Syria Destroyed 2 Waves Of 13 Israeli Cruise Missiles Using Russian Pantsir-S AA guns

Pantsir-S1 Russia, Syria, Israel

Syrian force shot down 13 Israeli air-launched cruise missiles during Feb. Israeli Aggression with Russian Pantsir-S1s

[ Editor’s Note: We finally have some officially reported details of the recent Israeli Airforce attack on Syria. The main disclosure is the Syrian had used the Pantsir-S short range system, specifically designed to take down cruise missiles when closing on their targets.

These systems have a variety of missiles to use depending on the altitude and type of incoming threat, plus a 30mm cannon as a last defense for itself.

Behind the weapons is the high tech radar tracking, also design to defend against swarm missile attacks which is the name of the game in modern warfare. We will be following closely the responses we get on this from various capitals.

The Russians had to be involved, particularly in early warning to the Syrian defense crews. A lot of coordination is needed to make sure the attacking force can be properly analyzed so the appropriate gun positions are assigned specific targets.

Timing is critical as in this case, Syrian fire might have been withheld until the Israeli planes launched their missiles. The Pantsirs (I am assuming more then one system) would have engaged those and then other missiles fired on the retreating Israeli planes.

The speed with which all this has to be done is incredible, and one would have to ask were Russians actually manning the Pantsir systems, as they require very highly trained people.

Israel has countered this news by claiming it took our a large part of Syrian air defenses, but without the usual video camera proof, the only one so far showing a panel truck at the T-4 base being struck.

The other big part of the story is how Israel quickly launched a second attack, designed to have empty Syrian batteries as easy targets, but Syria claims to have shot down most of the second wave, showing that the “Russian advised” air defense system had war-gamed for consecutive attacks like this. We should be hearing more on thisJim W. Dean ]

Israel F-16 Syria

The Syrian military shot down 13 Israeli air-launched cruise missiles additionally to the F-16I multirole fighter, which later crashed in Israel, during the February 10 encounter in Syrian airspace, the Russian newspaper Izvestia reported on February 14 citing a source in the Syrian General Staff. MORE ABOUT THE ENCOUNTER

According to the report, the Syrian military used S-200, Buk and Pantsir-S systems against Israeli aircraft and missiles. During the first strike on Syria, Israeli aircraft reportedly launched 11 air-launched cruise missiles. 8 of them were intercepted. During the second strike, Israeli aircraft launched 7 air-launched cruise missiles. Syrian forces intercepted 5 of them.

The report added that the missiles were the key target of Syrian forces. The only aircraft, which violated Syrian airspace, was also shot down.

It was the aforementioned F-16I. Russian and Syrian sources reached by Izvestia did not deny or confirm reports that the F-16I was targeted with an old-fashioned S-200 missile.

The article also provided additional details about the February 7 incident when Israeli warplanes struck the Damascus countryside. According to the article, Israeli aircraft launched 8 missiles and Syrian forces intercepted 6 of them.

Fearing Spying, US Intelligence Warns Against Using Chinese Smartphones

US intelligence leaders have publicly warned US citizens not use smartphones made by Chinese companies Huawei and ZTE, as those companies are ”beholden to foreign governments,” and they fear those companies’ products could be used for espionage, information theft or foreign influence.

During much-touted testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee (SIC) on Tuesday, the leaders of the US intelligence agencies warned against the purchase of Huawei and ZTE phones. “We’re deeply concerned about the risks of allowing any company or entity that is beholden to foreign governments that don’t share our values to gain positions of power inside our telecommunications networks,” FBI Director Chris Wray told the SIC.

“That provides the capacity to exert pressure or control over our telecommunications infrastructure. It provides the capacity to maliciously modify or steal information. And it provides the capacity to conduct undetected espionage,” he continued.

Huawei raged against the US government and cell phone market for what it considers unfair practices that excludes Huawei from American markets and deprives consumers of choices. “Huawei is aware of a range of US government activities seemingly aimed at inhibiting Huawei’s business in the US market,” the company wrote in a statement after the testimony.

“Huawei is trusted by governments and customers in 170 countries worldwide and poses no greater cybersecurity risk than any ICT vendor, sharing as we do common global supply chains and production capabilities.”

ZTE’s statement on the charges took a more conciliatory tone. “As a publicly traded company, we are committed to adhering to all applicable laws and regulations of the United States, work with carriers to pass strict testing protocols and adhere to the highest business standards,” a ZTE spokesperson said.

Huawei and ZTE are two of China’s largest smartphone manufacturers, particularly the former, which is the third-largest in the world after Samsung and Apple.

Both companies have made strides to enter US markets recently. Huawei attempted to enter a partnership with AT&T to sell Huawei phones, but the deal fell through in January.

The allegations against ZTE and especially Huawei are nothing new. In 2010, several US congressmen opposed Huawei’s expansion in Western markets on the grounds that their tech might be used for Chinese cyber-espionage.

In 2012, the House Intelligence Committee named Huawei and ZTE threats to national security, much the same story as the recent testimony. Allowing the Chinese companies to freely sell their products in American markets, the HIC claimed, could allow Beijing to interfere with communications and launch cyberattacks against critical infrastructure like dams and the power grid.

Similar allegations have been brought against Huawei by Australia, Canada, India and the UK. ZTE, a smaller company, has flown more under the radar until now.

Nestle accused of using JUNK SCIENCE to market infant formula products to gullible women

Image: Nestle accused of using JUNK SCIENCE to market infant formula products to gullible women

(Natural News)
Swiss food giant Nestle is coming under fire for misleading consumers using nutritional claims regarding its infant formulas.

A report by the Dutch group Changing Markets Foundation and Globalization Monitor that investigated the way Nestle markets infant formula around the world found that their health claims regarding nutrition and ingredients were based on marketing strategies rather than scientific evidence. They reached their conclusion after studying more than 70 Nestle baby milk product across 40 countries.

The firm often boasts of its commitment to science, but the report accuses them of manipulating people’s emotional responses to sell their products.

It’s no secret that most mothers want the very best for their children, and the hormones associated with childbirth kick new mothers into protective overdrive. It’s an emotional time compounded in many cases by a lack of sleep and difficulty navigating a new status quo, so many women are vulnerable during this time to marketing tactics that play on their desire to be a “good mother.”

In particular, Nestle has been contradictory in its health claims across different markets. Labels on their products in Hong Kong and Brazil, for example, advise parents not to give infants sucrose, while their infant milks in South Africa contain this ingredient. The European Food Safety Authority is also against using sucrose, as they say it can cause vomiting and failure to thrive.

Similarly, they marketed some of their infant milks in Hong Kong as being healthier because they don’t contain added vanilla flavorings, but the same flavorings are present in other products they sell in South Africa and China.

Changing Markets Foundation’s Campaigns Director, Nusa Urbancic, told The Guardian: “If the science is clear that an ingredient is safe and beneficial for babies then such ingredients should be in all products. If an ingredient is not healthy, such as sucrose, then it should be in no products. Nestlé’s inconsistency on this point calls into serious question whether it is committed to science, as it professes to be.”

“Closest to breastmilk” claims banned by WHO

In addition, the report takes issue with Nestle using phrases like “closest to breastmilk” in its marketing. The EFSA advises against using these words, and the WHO marketing code strictly forbids comparing infant milk products to breastmilk in any way because many of the substances found in breastmilk cannot be engineered. The phrase was also used by the company arbitrarily across products with different formulations, making it clear that its use was purely as a marketing tool.

This is extremely misleading as breastmilk is a personalized form of nourishment that is constantly adapted according to the baby’s needs and contains live substances like immune compounds and antibodies that cannot be replicated in a laboratory.

The report is calling on Nestle to review its products. The company is the global market leader when it comes to infant milk products, enjoying nearly a quarter of the market share. The authors would also like to see tight global standards when it comes to infant milk.

Nestle has long been criticized for its marketing practices when it comes to baby milk products. In the 1970s, it was accused of discouraging mothers from breastfeeding, particularly in developing countries, despite it being not only healthier but also cheaper than formula. One group boycotted Nestle for seven years over their stance.

Being unable to provide a baby with breastmilk can be very disheartening for new mothers, and the last thing these women need is to have multinational corporations exploiting their vulnerability with deceptive marketing practices that could compromise their babies’ health.

Chinese Police Begin Using Facial Recognition Sunglasses to Find Suspects

Police in China have begun using sunglasses equipped with facial recognition technology in order to locate wanted suspects.

The new tool, given to officers in Central China’s Henan Province, has reportedly led to the arrest of more than 30 people at the Zhengzhou East Railway Station since Thursday.

According to China News Service, the country’s second largest state-owned news agency, seven kidnapping and hit-and-run suspects as well as 26 individuals accused of using fake IDs were arrested after being identified with the technology.

Zhang Xiaolei, an employee with Henan’s Department of Public Security, stated Tuesday that each suspect’s face is run through a central database during their encounters with police.

“The facial information captured by the glasses will be sent back to a database for comparison with the information of suspects on the wanted list,” Xiaolei told the Global Times, a local newspaper aligned with the Communist Party of China.

Zhang also revealed that the new technology works effectively with only one image as opposed to previous tools that required multiple pictures from numerous angles.

The Global Times alleged that travelers were undeterred by the increase in surveillance at the railway station.

“I took the high-speed train from Zhengzhou East Railway Station on Sunday, and it didn’t feel any difference from my previous trip. I didn’t notice any police using special devices,” commuter Wang Chuanxi said.

Facial recognition technology is also used alongside what China calls “the world’s biggest camera surveillance network.” The country currently has more than 170 million CCTV cameras with an estimated 400 million more to come in the next three years.

“We can match every face with an ID card and trace all your movements back one week in time,” Yin Jun, a representative with surveillance camera manufacturer Dahua Technology, told the BBC last year. “We can match your face with your car, match you with your relatives and the people you’re in touch with. With enough cameras, we can know who you frequently meet.”

Staunch Anti-Prostitute Congressman Busted Using Taxpayer Money to Buy Escort

prostitutionprostitution

When it comes to the government, in general, the notion of ‘do as I say, not as I do’ rings true through every level, from the parking transit officer to the president.

Hypocrisy is a function of the state.

The citizens of the US are often reminded of this hypocrisy when members of the government commit such heinously criminal and hypocritical acts that they are cast out from their curtain of government protection.

The most recent case of government hypocrisy comes from a Utah lawmaker, who has been devoting much of his career to making sure sex workers suffer if they are caught by police. The staunch advocate of tougher penalties for prostitution, however, was just busted using taxpayer money to pay for hotel rooms to have sex with prostitutes.

The DailyMail.com quoted call girl Brie Taylor saying former GOP Rep. Jon Stanard paid her $250 for sex at least twice at the Fairfield Inn in Salt Lake City.

In one particular exchange, Taylor asks Stanard if she should bring any ‘accessories’ or ‘toys’, perhaps a ‘corset’, reported the news site.

As the Mail notes:

The conservative politician was elected to the Utah House of Representatives in 2012 and has three children with his wife LeeAnne. Last year, 43-year-old Stanard, of St. George, Utah, voted in favor of stricter laws on prostitution, including increasing the penalty for soliciting sex to $2,500.

Hypocrite, indeed.

In spite of claiming on his website that he is a “strong advocate for conservative family values. I am pro life, as well as for traditional marriage,” it appears that like many politicians, Stanard says one thing and does another.

As the text messages show—which was confirmed to by the actual phone number listed on his public profile on the Utah House of Representatives website—this hypocrite met with Taylor twice while pushing for laws that would’ve punished his companion even harder if they would’ve been caught in the act.

House chief of staff Greg Hartley told the Associated Press that the married Stanard — who resigned Tuesday night — was reimbursed for two hotel stays while he was attending legislative meetings at the state capital.

“It looks like they were legislative days,” GOP House Speaker Greg Hughes said.

In typical government fashion, Hughes said that he is not sure if they will require Stanard to pay back the money he spent getting a prostitute.

“If there has been an abuse of public funds or if public funds were used in a way that’s inappropriate, we would,” he said. “I don’t have solid answers for those things. I would need to have a way that I would know conclusively that that is the case.”

Stanard’s attorney Walter Bugden told the DailyMail.com: “Given the current climate in this country with misconduct allegations and the way things are happening in the media right now, there isn’t any explanation that my client could give that would overcome the shadow of these allegations.

“He has resigned his office.”

Naturally, Stanard is claiming he stepped down for family reasons and not because he was busted hypocritically hiring a prostitute while simultaneously trying to bury them in debt and prison.

As TFTP has previously reported, in the Land of the Free, it is against the law to get paid to have sex, unless that sex is filmed, distributed on DVD, and taxed. One of the least talked about systems of oppression in the US is that of persecuting prostitutes.

When referencing prostitution, we are talking about the mutually beneficial exchange of sexual favors for money by two or more consenting partners; not forced human trafficking.

Just like the war on drugs creates crime by pushing the unending demand for illicit substances into the black market, the war on the sex trade creates crime in the same manner.

Because the demand for sex is pushed into dark alleys and late night street corners, a woman working in the sex trade becomes far more vulnerable than if they were legally allowed to operate out of brick and mortar setups. This danger of working on the street drives the need for protection from pimps who are often more abusive than any customer would be.

Despite the tens of thousands of arrests each year, the market has found a way to provide the service of sex using safer solutions. In spite of the laws, sellers of sex have found ways to safely conduct business by setting up “massage” parlors, using phone books, and, of course, the internet.

Besides being an immoral gang of thieves, the state is also relentless. They have deep pockets of extorted tax dollars of which to dig in to enforce their distorted will on the people.

Despite prostitution arrests dropping from 2001 to 2010, the cost of arresting people for sex remains staggeringly high. Individual cities continue to spend up to $23 million a year stopping people from having voluntary sex.

Meanwhile, involuntary sex goes uninvestigated at an alarming rate. Hundreds of thousands of rape kits are sitting in police departments across the country — collecting dust, as cops petition the government to allow them to have sex with prostitutes so they can then bust them.

Fake Doctor In India Infects Dozens of Patients With HIV Using One Syringe

Authorities in India are searching for a phony rural doctor who negligently infected more than 30 people with HIV by using a single syringe on multiple patients whom he promised a miraculous and super cheap treatment.

Hundreds of patients residing around Unnao City in India might be infected with the deadly human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) after falling victim to a man who cycled around three villages for over a year, offering a “magic treatment” for 10 Indian rupees ($0.16).

The doctor has been identified as Rajendra Kumar, also known as Rajendra Yadav to the locals. Unlicensed physicians, known as ‘jhola chaap’ or ‘allopathic’ doctors, are a common find in poor and rural communities in India. None of the locals who used the man’s cheap treatment suspected any foul play.

“He was like an angel for us. Government doctors would prescribe medicine from outside, which cost us between Rs 100 and Rs 300, but his injection worked for just Rs 10. If we got good government health care, why would so many flock to Yadav,” a local resident told the Indian Express.

But the inexpensive treatment became a nightmare to dozens after they discovered they had been infected with one of the world’s most deadly viruses. Authorities already identified 33 people with HIV who allegedly contracted the virus due to Yadav’s treatment in Premgunj, Kareemuddin Nagar and Chakmeera localities.

“As of now, he is the one responsible for so many people catching HIV infection. There can be other reasons, but initial investigation puts the onus on him,” said SP Chowdhary, the chief medical officer for the city of Unnao, according to the Hindustan Times.

The 33 confirmed cases come from a screening of 566 people tested at government-organized HIV camps on January 24, 25 and 27, Choudhary noted. The camps were set up late last year after multiple suspected HIV cases showed up during routine tests at the district hospitals in Bangarmau.

“When we asked these patients whether they had used common syringes, some of them told us about a doctor they went to who uses the same syringe on all his patients,” Choudhary said.

“Patients have told us this man is about 35 years old and would go around on a bicycle, giving out pills and injections to treat colds, coughs and other ailments. He is a quack.”

According to reports, the purported doctor “vaccinated” at least 50 people a day using the same syringe. Yadav’s youngest victim is believed to be a six-year-old while most patients who have been infected are in their 1970’s.

“We are also conducting a mapping exercise and ensuring their treatment along with awareness. As far as the case of anyone giving injections without a license is concerned, strict action will be taken against them,” Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Sidharth Nath Singh said on Tuesday.

HIV can survive in syringes for up to four weeks. In higher temperatures (27-37°C) common in India the deadly virus becomes inactive within a week.

In India, 57.3 percent of ‘allopathic’ physicians do not have a medical qualification yet practice medicine in rural communities in the country, the World Health Organization (WHO) report on the Health Workforce in India published in 2016 revealed. Furthermore, the report found that 31.4 percent of such doctors only had a high school education.

Yadav has yet to be apprehended. When arrested the quack doctor could be charged with carrying out a negligent act likely to spread infection of diseases, voluntarily causing grievous harm by using dangerous weapons or means, and practicing medicine without having registration as a medical practitioner with the state government, Arun Pratap Singh, a Bangarmau police official, told Reuters.

Stop using term ‘Islamist terrorism’ – government watchdog

Hill, the Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation, said that the word ‘terrorism’ should not be attached “to any of the world religions.”

His comments mean that Prime Minister Theresa May and Home Secretary Amber Rudd, who have both spoken about the threat posed by “Islamist terrorists,” would need to rethink their language. Head of MI5 Andrew Parker has also used the term, previously warning of an “intense UK threat from Islamist extremists.”

Labour MP Karen Buck said that Hill’s recent report on the operation of terrorism legislation had acknowledged that “Daesh and Daesh-inspired terrorism is the greatest threat,” also using the Arabic pejorative term for Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS).

In Parliament’s Joint Committee on Human Rights, Buck asked the Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation whether, in light of dangers from far-right terrorism, “there is any downside that the current debate does tend to focus largely on Islamic terrorism.”

Hill told the MP that the legal definition of terrorism “mentions religion but mentions no particular religion nor sect within a religion.”

“You are accurate in using the phrase ‘Daesh-inspired terrorism’ where many other commentators use the words ‘Islamist terrorism’,” he said.

“It is fundamentally wrong to attach the word terrorism to any of the world religions. Put that another way round: those who adhere to any of the great religions or none can be terrorists within the definition.”

Hill has previously prosecuted in cases involving members of the IRA, Al-Qaeda, IS, and the July 2005 bomb plot.

The recommendation has already attracted criticism online, with Hill being labelled a too politically correct.

Hill’s comments will reinforce his reputation for making controversial interventions. Last year, he recommended that jihadists returning from Syria and Iraq should not be prosecuted as they were simply “naïve.”

Urban beekeeper using bee sounds and honey to make experimental music (Video)

Wrapping our heads around the scale and huge impact of colony collapse disorder on global bee populations is a difficult task. After all, cold, dry facts and statistics don’t always get us to truly realize how terrible it would be in a world without bees.

That’s where artists like UK-based Bioni Samp come in. Samp, who is a life-long bee enthusiast, is also an urban beekeeper who creates experimental electronic music using a blend of digital tools, as well as sounds recorded from his bee colonies. Watch him in action in this short BBC film, The Resistance of Honey:

Samp’s abstract music sounds much like how you might imagine coming from the depths of a beehive: deep, droning and instinctual. But beyond the novelty of such sounds, Samp (not his real name) explains on Motherboard that he has a greater mission — simultaneously raising awareness about colony collapse disorder, using a more roundabout (rather than direct action) method:

If I went around with a Greenpeace badge on and started shouting about deforestation, people quickly tire of that, it doesn’t really connect with people. So I worked around the idea of presenting something that’s got an underlying ecological message, but it’s put over in a way which interest geeks and people interested in electronic music and computing.

BBCBBC/Video screen capture

In addition to using digital tools, Samp builds his own custom-made oscillator equipment to help create his music, such as the quirkily named Electronic Beesmoker, BeeVerb, BFX, and the Binaural Beeframe.

Using these tools, Samp records and analyzes the various frequencies that bees make, from the sounds of bee drones at work, to the soothing “songs” that bee queen will emit when they want to “heal” and calm things down in the hive. One of Samp’s biggest discoveries was that honey could act as a resistor:

I [listen] to honey and I like to hear how it sounds. Honey has a 17 percent water content, which makes it a great conductor or resistor. So in my synthesizers here I’ve put in some electrodes into this honey [from my bee colonies], and this enables me to listen to the sound of the honey. Just as each colony of bees sounds different, each type of honey sounds different. So this honey has its own sound.

Samp harvests these diverse sonic elements, including the “organic elements” from the sounds of different kinds of honey, which are then incorporated into his compositions. So far, Samp has performed all over Europe in various artsy, experimental and ecological festivals (usually in a beekeeping suit, no less), and he has a future album and a book on alternative beekeeping in the works.

While the music itself might not please everyone’s ears, that in itself is not the point. Samp’s ongoing efforts to cultivate bees and a widespread appreciation for them is the epitome of great art: taking something so practical and satisfying, such as urban beekeeping, and intertwining it with something that is boldly artistic and yet also conveys an important environmental message too. CNN Panel Chastises GOP for Using ‘Innuendo’ to ‘Tar and Feather’ FBI

CNN
The Lead
January 25, 2018
4:23:09 PM Eastern

(…)

JAKE TAPPER: Congressman, let me start with you. The secret society story exploded after Senator Ron Johnson the Republican Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee was on Fox News talking about the secret society text. Sources now say that was in reference to a gag gift, that the text was a joke. What do you think? And do you think Congressional Republicans perhaps should have waited to learn more before pushing the narrative of a secret society?

MIKE ROGERS: Absolutely. I think the most dangerous place on Capitol Hill now is between any hearing of this and a microphone. I don’t care Democrat or Republican. And this shows me how dangerous, hopefully, shows them how dangerous it is. If there’s 50,000 texts of which they’re going through the forensic capability of retrieving now, you should wait until you say anything, about a secret society or anything, until you know. One text out of, clearly, more than 50,000 does not a conspiracy make. And this is what worries me about this is they are running out there with whatever they see that they like in order to try to impugn in a very big public way, the FBI’s investigation.

(…)

TAPPER: Laura, what do you think of this? Especially what do you make of the selective leaks? For instance, we found out about the existence of the words “secret society” before we even found out the context of it.

LAURA COATES: Well, you are seeing here is a tarring and feathering in the public square because they’re congressmen out there who believe that innuendo has become exceptionally persuasive in the court of public opinion. When you have Robert Mueller and his team who are refusing to leak on their own or give information about either the state of the investigation or the result of the investigation or the process of information, people are looking for bread crumbs and trying to put it out there themselves.

So when you have these selective leaks, what they are trying to do is put in their back pocket some type of information that could attack the credibility of the investigation, even before the results of that investigation are given. And if innuendo is going to be enough to persuade the public, we’re in for a scary ride.
