Turkey: 22 university students go on trial over ‘terror propaganda’

demonstration Turkey

Istanbul – Twenty-two students from a prestigious Istanbul university went on trial Wednesday on charges of spreading “terror propaganda” for staging an action on the campus opposing President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s military campaign in Syria.

Fourteen of the students have been held in jail since their initial detention in March when police stormed students’ dormitories at Bogazici University, in a case that has outraged activists.

Dozens gathered outside the main Istanbul courthouse as the trial got underway, unfurling banners such as “freedom for Bogazici” and “a right to education cannot be blocked”.

The accused face jail terms of up to five years if convicted on charges of propaganda for the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), Doguscan Aydin Aygun, lawyer for the students, told AFP.

Turkey earlier this year successfully carried out a major incursion into the Afrin region of northern Syria with allied Syrian rebels, ousting the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) militia which Turkey brands a terror group and branch of the PKK.

A day after Afrin was taken, a group of students opened a stand on the campus handing out sweets they dubbed “Afrin delight” in memory of the Turkish soldiers killed in the operation.

But another group however unfurled a banner reading “there’s nothing sweet about occupation and massacre,” in a show of protest.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan then slammed the anti-war students as “terrorists”.

Turkish prosecutors accuse the students of seeking to discredit the army and the state by portraying them as an “occupier” and as an “illegitimate force that uses violence.”

Giving testimony in court, the students rejected the charges and denied shouting slogans in favour of the PKK.

“I didn’t praise violence or make terror propaganda,” accused student Sukran Yaren Tuncer told the judge.

“I shouted slogans like ‘shoulder to shoulder against fascism’ and ‘no war, peace now’. They are universal slogans and chanted in every demo.”

Authorities detained hundreds of people during the Afrin operation on terror propaganda charges for criticising the operation, raising new concerns about freedom of speech in Turkey.

Founded in the 19th century as Robert College, Bogazici University is considered a bastion of secular and Western-orientated education in Turkey.

NO WHITES ALLOWED at Georgetown University "dialogue event" on racism… because the organizers are racists

Image: NO WHITES ALLOWED at Georgetown University “dialogue event” on racism… because the organizers are racists

(Natural News)
Students with fair skin were told that they couldn’t attend a recent “community dialogue” session about racism that was held on the campus of Georgetown University because the racist campus group that organized it wanted it to be a “safe space” accessible only by browns and blacks.

Known as “Georgetown United Against Police Aggression” (GUAPA), this anti-white cohort of radical racists basically converged a gathering of non-whites to fuss and moan about “police aggression,” which apparently only affects people who aren’t white. In an announcement on Facebook, GUAPA wrote in no uncertain terms:

“It’s time to talk. All of us have a story about GUPD (Georgetown University Police Department). All of us know someone who has been targeted. Let’s do something about it. Come this Tuesday for community and discussion. This space will center the voices and experiences of students of color, allies for the safety of students of color, allies are not welcome to attend this preliminary dialogue.”

In other words, white people have never been victims of police abuse, according to GUAPA, which means that only non-whites are allowed to talk about police abuse in a public forum. Even white people who GUAPA considers to be “allies” in support of its racist mission are relegated to third-class status, simply because of the color of their skin.

Here’s a small sampling of some of the MANY incidents in which white people have endured abuse by police officers

That GUAPA even exists at all at Georgetown says a lot about the dismal state of “higher education” in America today, which has been all but completely obliterated as a result of affirmative action. The racist members of GUAPA are clearly of such low intelligence that they fail to recognize that white people are victims of police abuse, too.

Sponsored solution from the Health Ranger Store: Lab-verified Nascent Iodine solution is a dietary supplement that provides your body with supplemental iodine to help protect your thyroid during radiation exposure. Nuclear accidents such as Fukushima (or nuclear war) can expose your body to radioactive iodine-131, a dangerous radioisotope. Pre-loading your system with stable iodine occupies the iodine receptor sites on your organs, causing your body to naturally expel radioactive iodine you may have been exposed to through air, food, water or milk products. This defensive strategy is recommended by nearly all health authorities, worldwide, including the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Discover more at this link.

Here are a few prominent examples from recent headlines that didn’t make the cut in national news, seeing as how they don’t quite fit the narrative that “people of color” are the only victims of police abuse:

• In 2016, a now-28-year-old police officer by the name of Philip Brailsford opened fire on an unarmed white man by the name of Daniel Shaver, murdering him in cold blood. Brailsford was later acquitted for murdering Shaver, even though the whole incident was captured on tape.

• Justine Damond, a white woman from Minnesota, was shot and killed by a black police officer named Mohamed Noor after calling 911 about “a possible assault in the alley behind her home.” Noor later turned himself in for murder and manslaughter of an innocent woman, but the story never gained national attention because Damond was white instead of black.

• A white man from Iowa was shot and killed by police during a routine traffic stop. Like the other aforementioned incidents, there was no nationwide call for change or any “White Lives Matter” protests in response.

Even the left-leaning Newsweek media outlet reported back in late 2017 that far more white people than black people are killed by police officers, which makes them prime candidates for discussions about police abuse like the one that recently took place at Georgetown.

According to actual statistics, only about one-quarter of all police shootings involve black people. The other 75 percent are white victims, almost none of whom are given a voice on the national stage to rally-cry for justice. Racist blacks and browns, as well as their brainwashed white allies, simply don’t allow for this type of equality.

Big Pharma now "owns" and controls nearly all university medical research funding

Image: Big Pharma now “owns” and controls nearly all university medical research funding

(Natural News)
The pharmaceutical industry has been heavily scrutinized in the past for trying to buy and influence the favor of medical professionals like doctors. But now that flat-out bribery has gotten harder to pull off, the industry has found more insidious means of keeping their fingers in the pot: Funding medical research at the university level. Why spend all that time and effort trying to persuade an established healthcare provider, when they can just win the favor of young professionals to-be? Big Pharma’s influence on university medical research simply cannot be ignored — especially when they’re the ones funding most of it.

As The Daily Sheeple recently revealed, Big Pharma’s funding of university research has been on the rise for the last 30-some-odd years. Ever since the 1980’s, pharma has provided more funding for research than the NIH has given grants. Back in 2011, Big Pharma outspent the NIH on medical research funding by eight billion dollars.

Big Pharma secures its future by influencing the young

Funding medical school research efforts gives the pharma industry multiple opportunities to not only influence the outcome of said research, but to influence the attitudes of students as well. A study from 2011 has shown that the more interaction students have with Big Pharma, the more favorable their views of the industry are. As the researchers from Harvard wrote in their conclusion:

Undergraduate medical education provides substantial contact with pharmaceutical marketing, and the extent of such contact is associated with positive attitudes about marketing and skepticism about negative implications of these interactions.

Sponsored solution from CWC Labs: This heavy metals test kit allows you to test almost anything for 20+ heavy metals and nutritive minerals, including lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium, aluminum and more. You can test your own hair, vitamins, well water, garden soil, superfoods, pet hair, beverages and other samples (no blood or urine). ISO accredited laboratory using ICP-MS (mass spec) analysis with parts per billion sensitivity. Learn more here.

In other words, the more contact medical students have with Big Pharma, the more likely they are to view the industry in a positive light. And perhaps more importantly, the less likely they are to believe that the industry is corrupting them. This notion is corroborated by survey data, which showed some disturbing results.

Students overwhelmingly admitted that they believed research and materials provided by Big Pharma are likely biased. However, this belief did not prevent them from also saying that information provided by pharma reps was a “valuable part of their education.”

Gifts, funding and more buy support from students

Ironically, many students also feel it is appropriate for them to accept gifts from industry reps — yet many also say they won’t be influenced by pharma’s presence, even though their peers might. The cognitive dissonance is strong here, folks.

Research has shown that doctors who get gifts — even just a meal — from pharma reps tend to have different prescribing practices than those who do not. Do you think the same would apply to students? The team found they do view the industry more favorably when they have more contact with pharma hacks.

The Harvard team also found that over the years, medical students’ contact with the pharmaceutical industry has been on the rise. Two recent studies found that 100 percent of medical students had contact with a pharma representative on at least one occasion.

In 2008, AMSA (American Medical Student Association), collaborated with The Pew Charitable Trusts to come up with a “conflict of interest scorecard.” Less than 15 percent of schools got an A or B — which means the remaining ~85 percent of schools had a detectable level of conflict, thanks to Big Pharma.

In addition to maintaining a high level of interactions with students, Big Pharma is one of the primary sources of funding for medical research — how is that not a major public health issue? Big Pharma creates drugs for their own gain, and little more. Independent science is truly integral to actually protecting the health of the people, yet this kind of discreet corruption is happening at universities around the country.

Idaho St. University “Lost” Nuclear Grade Plutonium-Poses Threat for Dirty Bombs

Idaho State University was recently for losing a small amount of radioactive, weapons-grade plutonium.

The amount is too small to make a mature nuclear bomb. However, the amount is large enough that could be used in the construction of a dirty bomb, according to the NRC.

Dr. Cornelis Van der Schyf, vice president for research at the university, made the excuse that the school forgot to dispose of the material. Is that even believable?the good professor stated that  “The radioactive source in question poses no direct health issue or risk to public safety.” Really? At least it doesn’t until it is made into a dirty bomb.

The University was only fined $8,500.  This is hardly enough to compensate for the danger posed by the school. Was the material stolen by terrorists, sold to terrorists, is it the next Deep State false flag? We have no idea, and the public safety be damned.

University of Texas to treat masculinity as a ‘mental health issue’

Home » Immorality, North America, Social » University of Texas to treat masculinity as a ‘mental health issue’

A new program at the University of Texas Counseling and Mental Health Center will promote “healthy masculinity” through “public events, educational workshops, and other forms of student involvement.”

The goal is “to impact campus culture to increase acceptance of gender diversity, promote healthy relationships with an emphasis on consent, and prevent interpersonal violence.”

PJ Media:

The program is predicated on a critique of so-called “restrictive masculinity.” Men, the program argues, suffer when they are told to “act like a man” or when they are encouraged to fulfill traditional gender roles, such as being “successful” or “the breadwinner.”

Though you might enjoy “taking care of people” or being “active,” MasculinUTwarns that many of these attributes are actually dangerous, claiming that “traditional ideas of masculinity place men into rigid (or restrictive) boxes [which]… prevent them from developing their emotional maturity.”

“If you are a male student at UT reading this right now, we hope that learning about this helps you not to feel guilty about having participated in these definitions of masculinity, and instead feel empowered to break the cycle!” the program offers.

The program is currently without leadership, but not for long. The school is in the process of hiring a “healthy masculinities coordinator” to run the program, and a school official tells PJ Media that some hopeful hirees are interviewing for the position later this week.

While many schools now have similar programs, this appears to be the first run directly out of a Counseling and Mental Health Center. Though the school seems to justify this by claiming that masculinity can cause men to lash out at other people and themselves, the school did not respond to a request for comment to clarify.

What is “healthy masculinity? This poster will give you an idea.

“Flowers in their beard or something”? This is “healthy”? Yikes.

Here’s the clincher:

There is no evidence that masculinity itself contributes to violence. Universities that run similar programs, such as UNC-Chapel Hill and Northwestern, have admitted that their programming isn’t supported by any evidence.

Yes, but men sure look pretty with flowers in their beards, don’t they?

This is just another effort by the left to deny or try to change human nature. It would be funny if it weren’t so futile. There are physical, biological, and chemical attributes men have that women don’t. No amount of “healthy masculinity” programs will alter that singular fact.

There are men who act like pigs and there are men who are a genuine threat to women. But it’s not because of their “masculinity” but rather the male role models they had growing up. There is nothing inherent in being a man that causes them to treat women and others disrespectfully or unkindly.

That an institution of higher learning should ignore that is beyond belief.

Uranus stinks like farts… and it took an Oxford University scientist to figure it out

Professor Patrick Irwin from the University of Oxford’s Department of Physics (yes, really) led the probe into Uranus, telling the world that “if an unfortunate human were ever to descend through Uranus’ clouds, they would be met with very unpleasant and odiferous conditions.”

Irwin’s team published a paper on Monday confirming that Uranus contains clouds of hydrogen sulfide, a gas that smells like rotten eggs. Luckily, there are worse things to deal with on Uranus than its foul odor. While there is no chance of contracting pink eye, there is a lack of oxygen and deathly cold temperatures.

“Suffocation and exposure in the negative 200 degrees Celsius atmosphere made of mostly hydrogen, helium, and methane would take its toll long before the smell,” Irwin added.

Irwin and his team closely examined the infrared light that is emitted from Uranus, visible from the eight-meter Gemini North telescope the Mauna Kea volcano in Hawaii.

The content of the swirling gasses around Uranus have long been the subject of heated scientific debate. For Irwin, we finally have the answer. “Now, thanks to improved hydrogen sulfide absorption-line data and the wonderful Gemini spectra, we have the fingerprint which caught the culprit,” the professor said.

The detection of hydrogen sulfide high in Uranus’s cloud deck is in stark contrast to the other the inner-gas-giant planets with relatively unfunny names, Jupiter and Saturn. On those two gaseous monsters, no hydrogen sulfide is seen above the clouds. Instead ammonia is observed – how exciting.

These differences in a planet’s atmospheric composition shed light on questions about how the planets formed and their history… stinky or otherwise.

Columbia University Professor Drops Some Knowledge About What’s Really Happening In Syria

Next Story

Critical thinking is the “The objective analysis and evaluation of an issue in order to form a judgement” (source) followed by the ability to find fact-based information to investigate the topic or argument and discover what the facts actually are.

The goal of critical thinking is to be able to make a conclusion based on facts and not on any preconceived assumptions. According to the University of Minnesota Professor Nan Gesche, this means having an open-minded “beginners mindset” without bias and prejudice (source).

This is the hardest part of critical thinking because of cognitive dissonance, which is the human’s tendency to argue black is white rather than hold a view that goes against their previous conditioning/assumptions.

Critical Thinking in Academia

In my previous article, I explained that the need for people to be able to critically think about current political events is increasing while studies suggest that the ability for the general public to critically think is seemingly declining (source).

Some academics are taking these findings very seriously. Ultimate Civics, for example, have developed a free American civics unit to inspire students at middle school and high school levels to think critically about U.S. democracy and emerge as change makers (source). Meanwhile, Stanford University has created free downloadable curricula, materials and assessments to help college students develop critical thinking and civic online reasoning skills (source).

But can we really rely on our education systems to provide us with critical thinking skills?

“I want a nation of workers, not thinkers.”
– John D. Rockefeller

One academic passionate about engaging people in critical thinking is Professor Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University who recently took the opportunity during a debate about the recent missile strike against the Syrian government to use his time on a mainstream news channel to state:

“I think we have to understand how this happened. This happened because of us. These 600,000 [dead] are not just incidental. We started a war to overthrow a regime. It was covert. It was Timber Sycamore. People can look it up. The CIA operation together with Saudi Arabia still shrouded in secrecy, which is part of the problem in our country. A major war effort shrouded in secrecy, never debated by Congress, never explained to the American people, signed by President Obama – never explained. And this created chaos, and so just throwing more missiles in right now is not a response.”

While the original mainstream narrative presented to the public is that the war in Syria is multifaceted and far too complicated to be fully understood, this is absolutely not the case.

We only need to critically think about one question:

Did the USA deliberately start a war in Syria to overthrow Assad and the Syrian government?

If we first look at the official mainstream narrative, then the answer is “no”. In 2011 when the Syrian conflict began, we were told that the people of Syria had taken to the streets, following the example of Egyptians and Tunisians, to peacefully demonstrate for political reform. Then the Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, ordered the Syrian Armed Forces to open fire on the demonstrators.

According to this narrative, people armed themselves and formed groups to defend themselves against Assad’s regime (source).

The Facts

The secret training and arming of rebel groups by the CIA to overthrow the government was first reported by The Washington Post and International Business Times (article now removed, but viewable here) back in 2013.

Award-winning journalist Ben Swann explained in a special 2015 Truth in Media report that ISIS entered Syria from Iraq in heavily armoured Humvees and tanks left by the U.S. military, and weapons and training from US and coalition special forces, organized by the CIA.

While reports from The Washington Post and The New York Times claim that the covert CIA program to fund rebels has now ended, Professor Jeffrey Sachs goes on to say the “war continues because we to this day back rebels that are trying to overthrow a government contrary to international law, contrary to the UN Charter, contrary to commonsense.”

A recent joint report published by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Program (OCCRP) and the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) found that the Pentagon is still supplying up to $2.2 billion worth of weapons and ammunition to Syrian rebels (source).

Michel Chossudovsky, award-winning author, Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Ottawa, and the founder and director of the Centre for Research on Globalization (CRG) explains:

“The global war on terrorism is a US undertaking, which is fake, it’s based on fake premises. It tells us that somehow America and the Western world are going after a fictitious enemy, the Islamic state, when in fact the Islamic state is fully supported and financed by the Western military alliance and America’s allies in the Persian Gulf” (source).

Professor Jeffrey Sachs points out that the solution to the Syrian conflict is no more complicated to understand that the cause: “stop trying to support rebels who are committed to overthrowing the government” and instead “go to the UN Security Council” to “agree with Russia on a strategy for ending the fight, but ending the fight means that we stop trying to overthrow a government.”

Conclusion

Looking at the facts, it is clear that the answer to the question “Did the USA deliberately start a war in Syria to overthrow Assad?” is “yes.” The next question one might ask is “why?”

As a lecturer of critical thinking and solutions education myself, I designed a talk on critical thinking about Syria that took students on a deep, difficult trip down the rabbit hole of answering that question “why.”

Like coming to terms with the fact that the Twin Towers were blown up, going through this wake up process can be extreme, but it is an essential one to go through because once we are presented with facts that challenge our world view, we can only deny them (cognitive dissonance) or accept them.

If we accept them, we start to see we are not the ego (our conditioning), reject the fear-based mainstream narrative of problems, and focus instead on the love-based narrative of solutions.

I invite you to watch my full 52 min lecture, or the 3-part version below, and please consider sharing it with anyone you feel can handle the cognitive dissonance, and has the potential to free their mind.

My next article will be about the positive, alternative narrative. Sign up to stay updated here.

University to Host Workshop on “Christian Privilege”, workshop warns Christians enjoy a privileged, easier life than their non-Christian counterparts

George Washington University is offering a workshop on April 5 that will focus on so-called white privilege and Christian privilege. According to the school’s Multicultural Student Services Center website, the workshop will “teach that Christians enjoy a privileged, easier life than their non-Christian counterparts, and that Christians possess ‘built-in advantages.’”

Entitled, “Christian Privilege: But Our Founding Fathers Were All Christian, Right?!” the workshop is hosted by the university’s Multicultural Student Services Center and is one of 15 “free training opportunities” offered by the center to “equip students and staff with the necessary skills to promote diversity and inclusion in the different environments.” Other workshops include “heterosexual privilege,” “cisgender privilege,” “able-bodied privilege,” “socio-economic privilege,” and “unconscious bias” — virtually all of the Left’s favorite talking points.

The Christian privilege workshop attributes Christian privilege to the misguided belief that most Christians are homogenous and mostly white. Its intent is to teach students how to recognize and address their privilege. The website explains that the seminar will discuss “what is meant by privilege overall and white privilege specifically,” the “role of denial when it comes to white privilege,” and the difference between “equality and equity.”

The description for the workshop relies on the Left’s tired misuse of the phrase “separation of Church and State,” which is not a constitutional construct (it’s not mentioned in the Constitution): “Even with the separation of Church and State, are there places where Christians have built-in advantages over non-Christians?” Their answer is yes. Of course, if leftists really think Christians have it so good, maybe they should just join a church. Too, if any of these people were truly Christian, they’d know the ludicrousness of their contentions. Any advantages white Christians have are not because they are part of some privileged club; it’s because they were raised with a strong work ethic and morals, which is also generally true of Asians (the wealthiest race in the United States — so much for white racism keeping minorities down). College itself proves the presenter wrong: Anyone who has searched recently for a college scholarship knows that there are loads of scholarships available to athletes, minorities, the poor, the physically and mentally disabled, to homosexuals and the transgendered, to the sexually and otherwise physically abused, and illegal immigrants, but not high-achieving, white students whose parents aren’t wretchedly poor, because they stayed together (as Christians should) and worked through their problems rather than take the easy route and get divorced (being a single mother is the single strongest determining factor in whether someone is in poverty or not). Of course, if one mentioned such a fact on a college campus, trouble would surely be forthcoming — the speaker wouldn’t be leading a diversity seminar on “minority privilege.”

The goal of the workshop is for attendees to be able to cite at least three examples of Christian privilege and three ways to ally with a non-Christian privilege by the end.

What the workshop seems to ignore completely is the overwhelming examples of Christian persecution that have taken place around the world and continue to take place today. Christians in North Korea and in predominantly Muslim countries in the Middle East and Africa, especially Afghanistan, are in danger.

And while the U.S. government does not sanction the type of persecution against Christians that can be seen in these countries, governmental policies have targeted Christians who dare to exercise their beliefs. How many Christian business owners have been punished for refusing to provide products or services to same-sex couples who sought marriage? Under ObamaCare, Christians have been forced to violate their beliefs by providing contraception coverage. Christians have been arrested in the United States for reading the Bible and participating in Bible studies on public property.

Christians on college campuses are particularly susceptible to persecution. According to the American Center for Law and Justice, several recent examples of discrimination against Christians highlight that anti-Christian sentiment is not exceptional but is in fact a trend. Two students were denied admission to the Radiation Therapy Program at the Community College of Baltimore County in 2015 because they made too many references to their Christian beliefs during the interview process. A student at Sonoma State University in California was asked to remove her cross during her 2013 orientation so that she would not offend other students. A student at Florida Atlantic University was reportedly ordered to write “Jesus” on a piece of paper and then stomp on it in 2013. Last year, a student at Northern Arizona University was ordered to leave a lecture hall after his professor objected to him reading the Bible before class began.

These are just a handful of examples of the kinds of discrimination against Christians that take place in the United States, and yet the workshop contends that Christians are somehow the lucky recipients of “unmerited perks from institutions and systems all across the country.”
