Homeless Man Travels Across The Country and Picks Up Every Stray Dog He Sees

A man and his 11 dogs began a journey across America with nothing other than a bike, a cart and a sense of family. Now, more than 2,000 miles later, the family is still going strong and they finally have a home to call their own.

In 2001, Steve first joined the many other humans and animals around the world who are without a home. Since then, he has picked up any stray dog he has come across and welcomed them into his roaming family.

Even without many financial resources, Steve still has plenty of love as well as an incredible ability to care for these dogs who would otherwise be abandoned.

Over the past 14 years, Steve has cared for over 50 homeless dogs.

One day, shortly after rescuing an abandoned dog who was pregnant, he discovered that she had six puppies. He was already caring for five other dogs, now he had 11 on his hands, he knew he needed to find a home for the dogs and himself.

Steve contacted a friend, living in Indianapolis, Indiana, who agreed to help out Steve and his furry family, if Steve could make his way there. The problem was that Steve was broke and living in California over 2,000 miles away!

After cycling along the highway for two weeks Steve and his dogs had made it nearly to West Memphis, Arkansas – over six states and 1,800 miles away! Where, by chance, he met Alicia Edrington after she noticed him traveling alongside the road. Alicia recounts their meeting below:

Luckily Alicia’s mom Mickey is an animal advocate in the West Memphis area, she was determined to help Steve and his pack.

First Mickey put up Steve and the dogs in a nearby hotel.

And everyone got a good night’s sleep before continuing their journey

Kerry from the West Memphis Animal Shelter reached out and purchased 100 pounds of dog food. People brought the family other dog essentials too such as leashes and harnesses.

Even more people pitched in to get a second night in the hotel room for Steve and his pups.

The Edringtons’ call for help caused a ripples of generosity. Eventually, this ripple reached a Kelley Seaton, a kind woman from Tennessee, who offered to drive the family to their Indiana destination.

The road trip offered plenty of time for a photo shoot.

11760120_1643621272518248_2989986935750925936_n

It was a cozy ride.

11813408_1643621292518246_7474548303524998855_n

They made a pit stop in Kentucky.

11709664_1643621739184868_6970823093337063446_n

At last, Steve and all 11 dogs arrived in Indiana. Thanks to the GoFundMe account and the generosity of 197 people, the Edringtons were able to raise over 35,000.

Additionally, Steve and his dogs will no longer be without a home, because one generous person donated a trailer to the family.

On a small scale, Steve’s story can be seen as one of rags to riches, but more importantly, it is the story of a man who had so little, yet still found so much to give: love, care and a sense of family. His generosity reminds us that although there are some things we can’t control, we can always look inward to find a bountiful supply of kindness and compassion.

Now, the Edringtons are hoping that enough funds will be raised to provide a small piece of land for Steve’s new trailer. You can support Steve and his dogs by donating to the GoFundMe account here.

Woman architect travels Europe in her self-built van conversion (Video)

We see and hear a lot about van conversions out here in North America, but over the ocean in Europe, there are apparently a good number of adventurous souls striking out in tricked-out vehicles too.

One of them is Viki, a recovering architect from Germany, who is travelling around Europe with her dog Cleo and her self-built van conversion that she’s named Illa (the pun of “van-illa” is intended). Viki says that she had previously been living a normal life, working long hours in her architecture job, sharing an apartment with friends, and had initially intended to buy a car in order to drive to Norway to find another job. But seeing that a van was about the same price, Viki ended up building out a van home instead, and has since been journeying around for the last six months, visiting fresh new destinations around Europe. We get a look inside via The Indie Projects:

The Indie ProjectsThe Indie Projects/Video screen capture

Van-Illa is a Volkswagen T5 with a long wheel base. Viki has remade the interior to resemble a comfy, feminine bedroom that has all her possessions within reach (including quirky favourites like her collection of Disney movies). One of the interesting design elements here is how she has created a kind of L-shaped counter with shelving up front. The little bright red refrigerator sits here, keeping things cool when needed, though Viki says that over the last few months she has almost been eating only plant-based foods, so she hasn’t been using it much.

The interior is insulated with 4-centimetre-thick cork board. Viki has used salvaged materials wherever possible: cabinet doors her neighbour almost threw out, and linoleum for her counter. Yet another awesome feature is her adjustable bed. With a lift up on folding supports, it becomes a reclining lounge seat-and-bed that looks out through the the rear van doors.

At the back of the van when the doors are open, Viki can slide out this giant pull-out drawer that functions as her kitchen prep counter and storage. In addition to the small water tank inside, there is another small water tank here.

Viki’s van conversion is simple design that features some very intriguing ideas for storage and layout. For now, Viki plans to carry on with her travels, while she can:

I really like my job still and I want to go back to working as an architect, but I felt I was missing out on travel. I’ve never travelled for longer than a month… so I wanted to change something. I will never be that young again, or that independent. I just couldn’t answer the question: ‘why not now’? So I left.

Indeed, for many of us, that’s a question that needs asking at some point in our lives: if not now, then when? To keep updated on Viki’s journey, visit her website.

Researchers Show Where The Aluminum Travels To In The Body & Stays After Vaccination

Next Story

When it comes to the most widely used adjuvant ingredient found within vaccines, aluminum, many questions have yet to be answered, particularly when it comes to where the aluminum goes after injection, an issue known as biopersistence.

One reason this question arises is because a causative role has been established in what’s known as macrophagic myofasciitis (MMF) lesion in patients who have myalgic encephalomyelitis, or brain inflammation. Myalgia, arthralgia, chronic fatigue, cognitive dysfunction, dysautonomia, and autoimmunity have been temporally linked to aluminium adjuvant-containing vaccine administration (Gherardi and Authier, 2003; Authier et al., 2003; Exley et al., 2009; Rosenblum et al., 2011; Santiago et al., 2014; Brinth et al., 2015; Palmieri et al., 2016).

“Evidence that aluminum-coated particles phagocytozed in the injected muscle and its draining lymph nodes can disseminate within phagocytes throughout the body and slowly accumulate in the brain further suggested that alum safety should be evaluated in the long term.” (source)

This study has prompted further research evaluating the potential hazards of injected aluminum, which begs the question, why hasn’t proper evidence and evaluation been published showing that it’s safe to inject aluminum into babies via several vaccines in a short period of time? Aluminum adjuvants may be effective for stimulating an immune response, but to simply presume there are no consequences for doing this, or to not emphasize or even state the adverse effects that have been discovered, is, I would argue, criminally negligent.

Such negligence is not uncommon when dealing with pharmaceutical companies, however. For example, a study published in the British Medical Journal and conducted by researchers at the Nordic Cochrane Center in Copenhagen showed that pharmaceutical companies were not disclosing all information regarding the results of their drug trials.

Even the FDA has been caught manipulating media and science press.

Examples of such fraud and corruption are endless, and the result of what many have dubbed the “corporatization” of science. Many from within the field have published a lot of work with the intention of creating more awareness about this grim reality.

Dr. Marcia Angell, a physician and longtime Editor-in-Chief of the New England Medical Journal (NEMJ), one of the most prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals in the world, has said that “it is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of The New England Journal of Medicine.”  (source)

She is one of many. You can read more about this here: Peer-Reviewed Science Losing Credibility as Large Amounts of Research Shown to Be False

It’s good to see that we are entering a time when these vaccine ingredients aren’t just assumed to be safe, especially aluminum, which had no place on planet Earth until humans made it, and it definitely has no place in the human body. Because vaccines have, historically, been viewed as non-toxic substances, the FDA and vaccine manufactures simply didn’t conduct appropriate toxicity studies to prove the safety of vaccine ingredients, like aluminum. (source)

A study published in BMC Medicine showed that alum-containing vaccines were associated with the appearance of aluminum deposits in distant organs, such as the spleen and brain, and were still detectable one year after injection. The same group from France published another study two years later, emphasizing that there are “several gaps in the knowledge on alum particles, including their exact mechanisms of action, their fate after injection, their systemic dissemination, and their safety on the long-term. Efforts have been done in the last years to develop novel adjuvants, but attempts to seriously examine safety concerns raised by the bio-persistent character and brain accumulation of alum particles have not been made.”

Fast forward to this year, and multiple in vivo studies have been published showing that injected aluminum, and aluminum used as an adjuvant within vaccines, does not come into the same method of excretion as aluminum that accumulates in our body from our food, for example. Our bodies do a good job at eliminating this type of aluminum, but the same cannot be said of injected aluminum. This is why multiple studies are implicating injected aluminum with multiple neurodegenerative disorders, like autism in the short term, or Alzheimer’s in the long term, because aluminum could be going to the brain and staying there for life.

Apart from observed behavioural abnormalities, the 2017 study showed that the “measurement of cerebral Al (aluminum) revealed a significantly higher Al level in brains from animals injected . . . than in brains from control group.” (source)

What’s also interesting is that there was “no significant increase” detected in the animals that were injected with a higher dose.

It’s concerning, especially because we already know that environmental aluminium has long been suspected to act as a co-factor in several chronic neurological diseases (Van Rensburg et al., 2001; De Sole et al., 2013; Exley 2013, 2014). Please refer to these studies to see the mechanism by which these authors are suggesting aluminum is transported to the brain.

“Experimental research . . . clearly shows that aluminum adjuvants have a potential to induce serious immunological disorders in humans.”

–  Dr. Lucija Tomlijenovic (source)

Here is a great quote from Dr. Jose G. Dores, a professor at the University of Brasilia’s Department of Nutritional Sciences who recently published a study in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. In the study, he offers the following observation: “Despite their long use as active agents of medicines and fungicides, the safety levels of these substances have never been determined, either for animals or for adult humans—much less for fetuses, newborns, infants, and children.”  (source)

Below is a video with Dr. Christopher Shaw, a professor from UBC, explaining why injected aluminum is a concern. We also recently conducted an interview with him, and will be releasing some of that out to you soon.

Here is a great video by Dr. Christopher Exley, a Professor in Bioinorganic Chemistry at Keele University and Honorary Professor at UHI Millennium Institute. He is known as one of the world’s leading experts on aluminum toxicity.

With So Many Studies Raising Concerns, Why Do So Few People Know About This?

The same thing has happened with mercury. Not long ago, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Chairman of the World Mercury Project (WMP), announced a $100,000 challenge and initiative aimed at putting an end to the inclusion of mercury, a neurotoxin 100 times more poisonous than lead, in vaccines administered in the U.S and globally. He held a press conference presenting a number of scientific publications raising several concerns with regards to injecting mercury into children. As with aluminum, there are no studies proving it’s actually safe to do this.

And a fairly recent Meta-Analysis published in the journal Bio Med Research International found:

The studies upon which the CDC relies and over which it exerted some level of control report that there is no increased risk of autism from exposure to organic Hg in vaccines, and some of these studies even reported that exposure to Thimerosal appeared to decrease the risk of autism. These six studies are in sharp contrast to research conducted by independent researchers over the past 75+ years that have consistently found Thimerosal to be harmful. As mentioned in the Introduction section, many studies conducted by independent investigators have found Thimerosal to be associated with neurodevelopmental disorders. Considering that there are many studies conducted by independent researchers which show a relationship between Thimerosal and neurodevelopmental disorders, the results of the six studies examined in this review, particularly those showing the protective effects of Thimerosal, should bring into question the validity of the methodology used in the studies. (source)

You can read more about that here.

So why does nobody know about this? Political insider Robert F. Kennedy Jr. explains:

Vaccines are big business. Pharma is a trillion-dollar industry with vaccines accounting for $25 billion in annual sales. CDC’s decision to add a vaccine to the schedule can guarantee its manufacturer millions of customers and billions in revenue with minimal advertising or marketing costs and complete immunity from lawsuits. High stakes and the seamless marriage between Big Pharma and government agencies have spawned an opaque and crooked regulatory system. . . .

Public health may not be the sole driver of CDC decisions to mandate new vaccines. Four scathing federal studies, including two by Congress, one by the US Senate, and one by the HHS Inspector General, paint CDC as a cesspool of corruption, mismanagement, and dysfunction with alarming conflicts of interest suborning its research, regulatory, and policymaking functions. (World Mercury Project)

Related World Mercury Project Article:  CDC: Corruption, Deceit and Cover-Up

There are real life examples of this too, like, William Thompson, a longtime senior CDC scientist who published some of the most commonly cited pro-vaccine studies, which showed that there was absolutely no link between the MMR vaccine and autism (Thompson, et al. 2007, Price, et al. 2010Destefano, et al. 2004). Dr. Thompson recently admitted that  it was “the lowest point” in his career when he “went along with that paper.” He went on to say that he and the other authors “didn’t report significant findings” and that he is “completely ashamed” of what he did. He was “complicit and went along with this,” and regrets that he has “been a part of the problem.” (source)(source)(source)

I could go on, but I’ll conclude by saying that we must continue to raise our voices and demand transparency. We must not let the corporate world continue to wreak havoc and sacrifice our health for their greed.

Sacrificing Animals For Science

Collective Evolution is a platform of animal activists, and it does conflict me to constantly look at studies where animals are bred and grown for such a sacrifice. That being said, perhaps for now, in some cases it can be looked upon the way the indigenous looked upon the animals they used to sustain themselves. You can read more about that here, in an article discussing what Native North American elders might say about a vegan diet and the modern day meat industry.  Some of the things animals are subjected to in the name of “science” are actually horrible. The cosmetics industry, to name one, is a heart-breaking example. Why are animals considered lesser beings? If these products are for us, they should be tested on humans. Perhaps one day we will be able to grow human bodies, devoid of any consciousness, to advance science, but then a number of other questions come into play.

As far as vaccines go, injecting aluminum into an animal is almost unnecessary at this point in my opinion, because as far as I’m concerned, we already know the result is not going to be good, so what’s the point of continuing to do so? Unfortunately, the language of science is far different, and perhaps these animals, on some deeper level, played that role so we can open our eyes and see the bigger picture. This type of perspective is discussed in the article linked in the previous paragraph, stories of Native North Americans and their relationship with animals might help with this perspective.

Not in all cases, but in many cases, alternatives to animal testing are sometimes more effective, quicker and cheaper. But this may not be true for all cases.

Texas man travels to White House to ‘kill all white police’, arrested by Secret Service

A man who was arrested Monday in Washington, D.C. allegedly traveled to the nation’s capital to kill “all white police” at the White House.

Michael Arega, of Dallas, Texas, was arrested Monday afternoon after the Secret Service Protective Intelligence Division received an alert just before 3 p.m. from the Montgomery County Maryland Police Department to be on the lookout for Arega.

He reportedly traveled from Texas to kill “all white police” at the White House, according to a statement from the U.S. Secret Service.

Secret Service at the White House searched for Arega until he was arrested without incident around an hour later. He was found on the north side of Pennsylvania Avenue near Lafayette Park.

A Facebook profile that appears to be Arega’s shows him “checked in” at the White House on Monday, and also includes posts with statements such as: “Now i am going to there to white House make sure kill All white POLICE !!,” “I remove the power of darkenes [sic] from USA in the powerful name of Jesus Christ !!,” and “Put Him on Jail Donald J Trump in Maighty Name of JESUS CHRRIST !!”

Arega, who was not armed with any weapons during his arrest, was brought to the Metropolitan Police Department and charged with making felony threats.

Satire: Comrade O’Connell Travels Back in Time

Christopher Jon Bjerknes

Imagine if you will, that Brendon O’Connell, with his superhuman skills and Aboriginal Australian mojo, travels back in time to post-revolution Russia with a plan of action and heaps of good advice for counter-revolutionaries. Brendon courageously demands that all counter-revolutionaries report to the Cheka and inform them that Trotsky is a jew, Lenin is a part jew and that jews were behind the revolution.

Not only that, but Brendon asserts that he has just discovered secret information unknown to anyone besides himself, that the jewish bankers supported the revolution. He screams to the masses that they must visit the offices of the Cheka and let them know this heretofore carefully guarded secret.

His work not yet done, he invites foreigners to travel to Russia and give the Soviet courts jurisdiction over their fate, so that they can sort out the jewish involvement in the revolution. Brendon urges them on, declaring, “They might even decide to restore the Monarchy!” Even more, Brendon demands that young and naive Russians protest the communists in the streets in violation of the law, and give rise to test cases they will surely win in the Soviet courts, or Brendon will label them cowards.

Isn’t Brendon a great leader! Shouldn’t we all rally around him and overlook his plagiarism and self declared insanity? Wow, gosh, oh golly gee, why can’t I see his brilliance as he lays traps and land mines all around him?

Carpenter lives, works & travels out of this well-crafted bus conversion (Video)

Living in a tiny house isn’t for everyone, but the ideas behind the tiny house movement are at least getting many people to question whether it’s worth it to work long hours to pay off a decades-long mortgage for all that space in a bigger house, much of it used to store stuff that we don’t necessarily need.

Interestingly, we’re also seeing a cross-pollination of sorts between the tiny house world and vehicle conversions, with tiny house principles of ‘living with less’ and using smart small-space design ideas helping to evolve these other forms of portable housing. Some of the modern bus conversions we’re seeing are a great example of this, and here is yet another: Idaho photographer, musician and carpenter Kyle Volkman renovated this 30-foot Blue Bird school bus into a full-time home on wheels that also runs on vegetable oil. Here’s a quick tour of Volkman’s home, nicknamed the “Yetibus,” via Bus Life Adventure:

As you can see, Volkman’s bus has most of the basic amenities to live comfortably in a small space: there’s a convertible sofa-bed with storage underneath and behind; and there’s a dinette with storage in the seats. Volkman, who also makes a living doing custom vehicle conversions and tiny houses, did most of the custom work on his bus, with the help of some friends who are mechanics and welders. You can see his beautiful craftsmanship all over the bus.

Kyle Volkman© Kyle Volkman
Kyle Volkman© Kyle Volkman

Beyond that is the kitchen area, which has a pretty large counter for prepping food. There’s a propane stove, and a under-the-counter 3-way refrigerator that can run on propane as well as electricity. The Isotemp water heater under the foot-pump-operated sink is actually one that is used for sailboats; it is a kind of heat exchanger where water is used to cool the engine while driving, but at the same time, makes hot water for later use. The bus itself is heated with an ultra-efficient woodstove.

Kyle Volkman© Kyle Volkman
Kyle Volkman© Kyle Volkman

The bathroom has a dry composting toilet, as Volkman didn’t want the fuss of having to dump black water. There is no shower indoors; Volkman says he’s planning to install an outdoor shower soon, and is already in the process of installing a system for solar power.

Kyle Volkman© Kyle Volkman

At the very back is the sleeping area, which also has closet space to hang up clothes and under-bed storage space to put away other gear. There’s a lovely mural here as well.

Kyle Volkman© Kyle Volkman

Volkman explains that he chose to convert a bus into a full-time residence because he became interested in diesel-vegetable oil conversions, and it was cheaper to convert a bus to run on veggie oil versus a van. In all, it took him three months of hard work, spending USD $15,000 on the renovation materials, raising the roof and vegetable oil conversion, in addition to $3,000 to purchase the bus and $15,000 to upgrade it mechanically (a very good idea on any old vehicle).

Living this way has given Volkman a precious opportunity to do the things he loves to do — such as snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking and carpentry — without having to be tied to one spot. With all his woodworking tools stored on the bus, Volkman is also able to make a living creating conversions for others, setting up shop wherever he’s hired by clients. He says:

Living life outside the lines of society’s box has it’s challenges but it’s worth it to me. Small space living requires minimalism as a lifestyle. I own nothing I don’t need and everything I do own has it’s place in my bus. Practicing minimalism means removing the excess, physically and emotionally, to have clarity in your space and your mind. It helps me reduce life down to the things that matter. It’s also more environmentally friendly. Less space = more efficiency and less consumption which creates a smaller ecological footprint. This philosophy of awareness and responsibility, although nothing new, has become more mainstream in the recently popularized tiny house movement. In light of earth’s man made climate crisis, which is at its base a cultural crisis, people are seeing the value in living small.

Kyle Volkman© Kyle Volkman

Yet, Volkman also points out that living the tiny lifestyle and having a ‘normal’ job don’t have to be mutually exclusive — you just have to know what your personal life balance needs to be. For Volkman, he says that: “Having a house and a 9-5 job can provide you with financial security, but that has never been the life for me. I need something more. I feel that life is too short to spend it preparing to live. For me, bus life is a way to be more connected with what’s important to me and what gives me inspiration.”

Seeing a thoughtfully designed tiny home-on-wheels like Volkman’s is an inspiring moment: even if such a lifestyle doesn’t necessarily resonate with everyone, it shows that an alternative is possible — and can also be very comfortable and well-crafted indeed.
