Trump’s Rogue US Regime Murders Syrians Defending their Homeland

rogue-us-regime
Evil animal Donald “Dr. Strangelove” Trump, who broke rogue US regime record from inauguration to war crimes.

The rogue US regime of the evil animal and fake swamp drainer Donald J. Trump has struck again. At around 2400, 8 February, the war criminal Obama cum Trump coalition targeted 10 positions of Syrian Arab Army soldiers and affiliated militias between the villages of Khsham and al Tabyia in Deir Ezzor countryside.  These Syrian military forces were defending Syrians within their national borders, defending Syrians and the homeland within their legal, national borders.  Scores were murdered, dozens were injured, and material damage was immense.

The Central Command (CENTCOM) of the rogue US regime outrageously issued a public statement, using Newspeak to claim its deadly, atrocious attacks on Syrian forces were in “self-defense.”  Can a burglar illicitly, criminally, enter your house, murder your family, decree that you provoked him after which he arrogant asserts his “non-negotiable right to act in self-defense.”

US strikes in Syria may be lawful if Syria consents to the use of force in their territory.  If Syria does not consent, the strikes would violate international law, unless the US demonstrates that the strikes were taken in self-defense.  — Sarah Knuckey, international lawyer and Professor at Columbia Law School

rogue-us-regime
Rogue US regime CENTCOM lies in its public statement.

There is no Cessation of Hostilities agreement between Syria and the rogue US regime.  Syria has consistently condemned the criminal aggression of the US and its underling coalition of terror states.  There is no “agreed-upon Euphrates River de-confliction line;” the only agreement is the US one the US signed for US troops in Syria. The rogue US regime has no “SDF partners.”  The fraudulent Syrian Democratic Forces is a creation of the US:  An international foreign mercenary militia composed of international human garbage, and a small number of separatist Ziokurd incompetent, traitor-losers.  War criminal Obama had to put this gang of thugs together, because individual wetworkers could not be beheaded, indefinitely, without losing that sociopathic employment pool.  War criminal Trump has expanded, exponentially, these killers (anyone really believes that the Pentagon lost $800 million, through incompetency?  That money is payroll for hired assassins.).

rogue-us-regime
“Then we just bombarded the shit out of it [Raqqa].” “I’ve literally done nothing in my life but jack off before I came here.” — American terrorist & human garbage.

The rogue US regime bipartisanly created al Qaeda, created ISIS, created the terrorist SDF.  No US military base has a right to be in the SAR.  US presence there is a breach of International Law, per the post-WWII Geneva Treaties, to which the US is a hypocritical signatory.

Yesterday’s slaughter of Syrian troops, by American illegals was not the first time the US committed a massacre of Syrians defending their homeland from foreign invaders.  In September 2016, Barack Obama rescued al Qaeda/ ISIS by ‘accidentally’ massacring 83 SAA troops in al Tharda mountain, near the Deir Ezzor airport.  Trump began his war crimes against Syria just 13 days after taking the oath of the presidency, when he bombed two bridges in al Raqqa, ravaging infrastructure that supplied water to the city of 800,000 civilians.  Trump has exceeded Obama’s atrocities against Syria, helping to make al Qaeda great, again. It was Trump who intentionally bombed Syrian soldiers, 10 April 2017.  It was Trump who followed fake news! CNN’s criminal lies from Brit terrorist embedded with al Nusra in Khan Sheikhoun, to bomb Syrian Arab Army soldiers defending their homeland from foreign invaders.

rogue-us-regime
Terrorist UK national illegally in Syria was source of GB hoax in Khan Sheikhoun

This is Col. Ryan Dillon, the head of the rogue US regime Operation Inherent Resolve, a subsect of CENTCOM.  The Department of Defense has called him “infamous,” and pretends that he spends his time in Baghdad (the US satrap) or Kuwait (of incubator babies infamy).  It is likely that he is an illegal in Syria, as the various foreign assassins — such as the self-named  jack off and junkie Brace Belden — require some type of direction.

rogue-us-regime
Ryan Dilllon, colonel of the rogue US regime and head of OIRSpox.

Dillon has recently outted the plans of the US to ethnically cleanse al Raqqa of Syrian Arabs.  On the day that the rogue US regime again bombed Syrian soldiers, he tweeted a report from Reuters — gloating about the obliteration of al Raqqa by the US and its foreign mercenary militia — which complained about 60,000 Syrians reported to be returning home.

Reuters, the UN mafia, and the rogue US regime try to dissuade Syrian Arabs from returning to al-Raqqa.

Panos Moumtzis, UN Ass. Secretary-General — whose boss recently demanded that Syria be referred to the ICC, for defending itself against foreign pathogens — ejaculated hysterically and in fear mongering fashion, that “the number of unexploded ordnance in Raqqa is something that we have never seen before. Extreme. Every house, every room, every inch of the city.”  Somehow, the gang was completely ignorant to Russian sappers having cleansed almost 1,000 hectares of explosives left behind in liberated Aleppo December 2016 — left behind by those wonderfully moderate terrorists. Somehow, the humanitarian diplomat was also kept in the dark over the more than 150 million square meters de-mined by Russian and Syrian sappers in Deir Ezzor city, September 2017.

The rogue US regime continues to slaughter with impunity, and with the depravity of killers fueled by Captagon.

Israel Bombs Damascus as Syrians Close in on Last Terrorist Base

Israel bombed Damascus three times yesterday—while the Syrian government announced a major rebuilding program in liberated Aleppo—and started closing in on the last US-backed Islamist terrorist base in Idlib province.

The Israeli attack used US-supplied jets and ground-to-ground missiles, the Syrian army said in a statement, adding that its missile defense systems (supplied by Russia) had hit but not downed one Israeli jet.

In a statement carried by SANA news agency, the General Command of the Army and the Armed Forces said that the Israeli army overnight fired rockets at targets in Al-Qutayfah in Damascus countryside, causing damage near military sites in the area.

“The Israeli aggression affirms again the support of the occupying entity to terrorist organizations in Syria and its desperate attempts to raise their morale after the painful blows they received in Harasta in eastern Ghouta in Damascus countryside and the sweeping victories the Syrian Arab Army is achieving in Idlib,” the statement said.

The General Command meanwhile warned against risks posed by such aggressions and held the Israeli entity full responsible for their repercussions.

The Israeli warplanes fired at the targets in Syria from inside Lebanon’s airspace, while the missiles were launched from the occupied Golan Heights.

The latest attack brings to over 100 the number of Israeli military attacks upon Syrian military positions, all deliberate provocations designed to not only weaken the Syrian government in its war against the Islamist terrorists, but also to provoke the Syrian government into retaliating against the Jewish state.

Such a retaliation—as deserved as it might be—would however be used by the Jewish lobby controlled media and US government, along with the Israeli government, as “proof” that Syria is a “terrorist state” and would inevitable result in a full-scale military invasion and American bombardment.

As a result, the Syrian government has not reacted to the ongoing Israeli military aggression—preferring instead to bide its time until the last of the US-backed “rebels” are beaten. Only then will a suitable response to the Jewish attacks be formulated, observers in Syria say.

The Jewish ethnostate’s attacks come at the same time that the Syrian army captured 14 villages as they advanced on the largest rebel-held enclave in the country’s northern Idlib province.

Reports say that the Syrian government forces and their Hezbollah and Iranian allies—backed by the Russian air force—have been on the offensive since late October in Hama and Idlib provinces, capturing nearly 100 villages from the US-backed terrorists, which include the al-Qaida-linked Levant Liberation Committee.

The Syrian offensive has intensified after the last major ISIS stronghold was destroyed in December, and the government has been able to redeploy large military units from the previous conflict areas to help crush the last of the terrorists.

The Syrian national football team, Qasioun Eagles, remained on course to earn a place at 2018 World Cup finals in Russia with a 1-1 draw with Australia in the first leg of their Asian qualifying tie.

The professional young player Omar al-Soma scored a late penalty equalizer after Robbie Kruse had put Australia in front in the first half.

The match, in which Syria was officially the home team, was played in Malaysia because of the ‘War of Terror’ waged against Syria by the West and their stooges.

The Syrian national team played beautifully and in a great way, with many chances to score were lost, unfortunately, but with this 1-1 equalizer, the team is still on target.

What was evident is this Syrian team had the capacity to unite all Syrians not only in Syria but all over the world, in addition to the lovers of Syria worldwide.

Millions of people gathered to watch this match around the world. In Syria, large screens were installed in public squares and in the stadiums and cinemas across the main cities. Syrians of all faiths, ethnic backgrounds, and political alignments watched eagerly and full of support to their national team.

Syria’s homeland which has been facing a global war of terror imposed on it, topped with criminal unjust sanctions, a horrific number of its people slaughtered for ‘fake democracy’, displaced for imperialistic and colonial goals, is still alive thanks to its blessed martyrs and still able to draw the smile on its people and to make victory not only in the battlefields across the country against the world’s most criminal terrorists, but also in other fronts under the whole world eyes.

NATO Terrorists Bomb Damascus Fair; Syrians Keep Coming

damascus-fair
After a 5 yr hiatus, the 59th Damascus International Fair reopened to more than 300k visitors

Four days into the Damascus Fair, NATO and Gulfies armed savages could not tolerate this joyful occasion.  On 20 August, the savages bombed the entrance to the 59th International Fair. The Damascus Fair reopened after a 5 year hiatus caused by the foreign terrorist war against the Syrian Arab Republic.  Nine visitors reported as martyred, and dozens of others injured.  Such acts of satanic barbarism are almost to be anticipated.  Among the heinous, glaring examples came two days after Homs governate celebrated the rebuilding and dedication of Central Homs, destroyed by NATO and Gulfie savages that belong incarcerated in psych facilities for the criminally insane. On 12 May 2015, takfiri thugs, unable to endure neither joy, nor beauty, martyred four, and wounded 28, in twin bombings.

Let us please cleanse ourselves from Newspeak, the war-pimping language that bleaches the blood from the hands and souls of monsters.  No “militant” “shelled” the Damascus Fair.  Unknown terrorists in eastern al Ghouta bombed the visitors of this International Damascus Fair.

Mortars, missiles, hell cannons, and other improvised weapons are bombs, used for the purpose of slaughter, mayhem, and instilling fear in the population.

These are ‘improvised’ rocket- and mortar bombs found by the SAA in post liberated Aleppo.  Call them by their proper names.  Newspeak has always been for purposes of pimping perpetual war.  The word “shells” can bring to mind a delicious Italian meal, or pretty fossils of marine life.

Billions of dollars in weapons were left behind in reunified Aleppo:

In September 2017, FSA/Nusra terrorists bragged about having received massive weapons via NATO Bulgaria‘s VMZ.

If language is not correct, then what is said is not what is meant; if what is said is not what is meant, then what must be done remains undone; if this remains undone, morals and art will deteriorate; if justice goes astray, the people will stand about  in helpless confusion.  Hence there must  be no arbitrariness in what is said.  This matters above everything. Confucius

If al Ghouta sounds familiar to the western ear, that is the neighborhood in which terrorists created snuff porn propaganda in August 2013, when bodies of kidnapped and slaughtered Syrians from Latakia governate were shown as fraudulent evidence that the chemical weapons provided by Saudi Bandar Bush to the takfiri, were used by the Syrian Arab Air Force. This crimes against peace propaganda was recycled by al Nusra terrorists — and their stethoscope-less CIA death squad White Helmets — in Khan Sheikhoun, 4 April. The takfiri beasts on two legs had previously kidnapped more than 200 Syrian civilians from nearby towns of Majal and Khattab, for the ghastly snuff porn videos pimped by all NATO-run msm.

The indomitable Syrian soul, thousands of years old, refuses to submit.  Hours after the NATO & Gulfie freedom fighting bombs slaughtered and injured Syrians at their Damascus Fair, hundreds were returning to this stunning exhibition.

Did that NATO gang give the order for the fatal bombing yesterday, as a Rumpelstiltskin type tantrum for not being invited in? The scum in expensive clothing — politicians, think-tankers, and faustian ‘diplomats’ have spent the last five years salivating as they hold meetings in which they count the coins they fantasize they will received as reward for their economic hit men wetworks.  They dream of a balkanized post Syria Syria that will never exist, all the while ‘owning’ underling status.

Damascus, SANA – Prime Minister Imad Khamis on Sunday paid a visit to Damascus International Fair on its 4th day, met industrialists and manufacturers and reviewed the signed export contracts.

Touring a number of the Fair’s pavilions, Premier Khamis stressed that Syria has been able to rise up again and even stronger despite the billions of dollars spent to destroy the country.

He noted to the remarkable presence and participation of local industrial companies, adding that the high quality products affirm the recovery of the Syrian economy and send a message to the entire world that Syria is now far stronger and more powerful than ever before thanks to the Syrian people’s determination to continue their lives. — R. The Damascus International Fair continues throughout 26 August.

Theresa May Cries: Not Loved by Brits as Assad by Syrians

I got the remedy for you Ms. May. Now strap yourself in and listen to this.

Now all of this must be kept secret and must appear to have been organized by others. Ask the regimes of France, Saudi Arabia and the US to organize it all for you.

Organize some tiny protests against you and have the international media whip them up as a peoples uprising for freedom.

Organize some huge, huge rallies in support of you and have the international media……well, ignore them basically.

may
October 2011, hundreds of thousands of Syrians showed support of their president, their soldiers, their country.

Organize for guns and explosive devices to be shipped in via Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Hide the origin by routing them through some dodgy arms dealers in Bulgaria, Ukraine or Romania.

Store these arms in large quantities in St. Paul’s Cathedral ready for activation on the streets of London.

May
Weapons gifts from the US to terrorists in Syria, found by SAA in liberated Aleppo

Swamp the tiny protests with armed jihadists who will kill police and security services in large numbers.

From there activate the insurgency using terrorist proxies in other parts of the UK. In years to come you will have a mighty battle to liberate Manchester. The terrorists and the international media however will come up with things like #SaveManchester  and #ManchesterIsBurning.

Have your allies in NATO form a UK version of the White Helmets. Ask them to train them in Turkey, nice and snug next to the terrorists infesting the area.

Ship the White Helmets across to the UK and recruit some Wall Street PR firms to lionize them as brave first responders to your barbaric barrel bombing and deliberate targeting of civilians.

Make sure there is endless evidence available to show the UK White Helmets being affiliated with terrorists by running around with guns, going to executions, waving terrorists flags aground, calling your soldiers traitors etc. etc.

may
al Qaeda White Helmets organ traders too

Ms. May , organize the international media and world leaders to parrot sound bite accusations of “barrel bombing” “targeting civilians” “bombing schools and hospitals.”

may
‘Bombs, not books’ found in schools in liberated Aleppo.

Make sure the terrorists are reinvented as moderate rebels fighting for the freedom of Brits against your tyranny. Have your allies arm, train and finance these so called moderates. Make sure there is a constant flow of terrorists into the UK. The Channel Tunnel sounds perfect for the job.

Have your allies demand regime change and that you have no part in the future of the UK. Organize for the ambassadors of world leading powers to perform histrionics at the UN, decrying your barbarity, the suffering of children at your hands and that the international community must act urgently. Nikki Haley will be perfect at making shrill, but false accusations against you.

Make sure the terrorists feel no restraint in their barbaric acts. Mass ethnic cleansing, executions of minority groups such as Sikhs or Muslims, public beheadings, throwing gays off the top of buildings, cutting out the hearts of British soldiers.

Don’t worry, Ms. May , all of this will be obfuscated by the international media. Your ousting at any cost and the overall moderate nature of the terrorists will remain their focus no matter how overwhelming the evidence to the contrary.

may
Cannibal Sakkar was a hit with msm.

Lend even more credibility and legitimacy to calls for your removal by recruiting the NGO industrial complex to demonize you. Amnesty and Human Rights Watch have the requisite public profile, reputation and ties to the intelligence community to do this.

Have the aforementioned accuse you, Ms. May , of every act of evil ever performed on the planet.

may
A member of the FSA grills a head of a decapitated officer – Idleb

Ask them to write reports on your barrel bombing, your deliberate killing of civilians, and your deliberate bombing of schools, hospitals, houses and vital infrastructure. Have them accuse you of killing the heroic first responders from the White Helmets and make sure that includes bombing their offices and depots.

Don’t forget — Ms. May — to ask them to come up with a decidedly shaky and evidence free report on you opening a prison where you torture prisoners then cruelly hang them up after sham 2 minute trials. Anonymous sources are the flavour of the day, so make sure you use 50…no make that 100 as “evidence” of these atrocities. Remember the solid principle that an anonymous source can’t be proved but it can’t be disproved, either. It all reinforces the narrative of you as the modern day Hitler so it will work a treat.

I almost forget. The crème de la crème, the cherry on top: Chemical weapons.

Now we get real nasty. Recruit the Turks, Saudis and Americans to supply the terrorists with chemical weapons and train them in their use.

Make sure the terrorists use the chemical weapons with reckless abandon. Don’t worry, you as a government which has all those chemicals in abundance will be found guilty by trial by media. The international media are well versed in taking snap, ill informed, propagandistic statements of western leaders and turning them into fact. Therefore any chemical weapons attack carried out by the terrorists will result in you being charged, tried and found guilty in trial by media within days.

Subsequent digging up of the facts by alternative and independent journalists and scientific inquiry and analysis which disproves your guilt will be largely ignored and will not change fictionalized history. Should the journalists and activists create too many waves and raise public consciousness we shall launch smear campaigns to discredit them. You know, call them fake news, conspiracy theorists, get the tech giants to censor them and demonetize them. If they threaten the control of information too much we will start to close them down by pretending they threaten national security and embolden terrorists.

may
May day Rescue,$25mln NGO launched attack on investigative journalist Vanessa Beeley.

Even monsters have their friends, and sure enough we will easily find some for you. Russia and Iran will be horrified by the spread of terrorism in your country. They will hold grave fears it will spread across Europe, into Russia and back into the Middle East. In other words it will be a huge existential threat across Eurasia. They will also be horrified by the flouting of international law by the US and its allies, the downright lying of the western media and the acts of sheer terrorism by terrorists who have been labelled as moderate freedom fighters.

Russia and Iran will join you in your heroic fight on the front lines in fighting internationally sponsored terrorism. Russia is blamed for literally everything and Iran is claimed to be the biggest supporter of terrorism, a laughable proposition. They will be vilified as rogue states and the three of you will be labeled as an axis of evil. It will be the terrible trio against the so called “international community.”

All the ingredients are there. Now, hold an election and get 88% of the vote like Bashar al-Assad did in 2014.

It’s not terrorism when we do it: Syrians report US use of chemical weapons on Raqqa – Update: US-led coalition uses white phosphorus to screen and mark targets

The outrage and empathy on behalf of the civilians in Syria that was expressed by politicians and media personalities alike when they found an opportunity to blame a chemical attack on Assad’s government was a distant memory this week. Instead, reports that a US-backed coalition dropped a cluster of airstrikes containing illegal chemicals on a city housing 200,000 people was almost completely ignored by western media.

The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) broke into the Islamic State-held city of Raqqa for the first time on Tuesday. While popular outlets such as Reuters reported that “as artillery and coalition aircraft pounded targets in the city, SDF fighters moved in small groups into the district,” there were some key aspects they appeared to leave out.

International outlets and witnesses on Twitter noted that some of the airstrikes resembled cluster bombs or white phosphorus, both of which are internationally banned on residential areas.

Xinhua News, China’s state press agency, reported that “Tens of civilians were killed on Thursday when the U.S.-led airstrikes targeted Syria’s northern city of Raqqa with white phosphorus,” citing a report from Syria’s Sham FM radio.

Russia’s Riafan.ru reported that “Coalition forces led by the United States of America shell Raqqa and suburbs of white phosphorus munitions,” citing reports on Twitter, which said the U.S.-backed coalition conducted 20 air raids.

Although the total number of civilian deaths has not been confirmed, early reports suggest that nearly 50 people were killed. The U.S. has yet to acknowledge whether white phosphorus was used during the raids.

White phosphorus is described as an “incendiary and toxic chemical substance used as a filler in a number of different munitions that can be employed for a variety of military purposes.”

The chemical was banned internationally after the 1980 Protocol on Incendiary Weapons restricted the “use of incendiary weapons as a means or method of warfare during armed conflict.”

The use of chemical weapons is clearly prohibited in international armed conflicts. The International Committee of the Red Cross noted that “employing asphyxiating, poisonous or other gases, and all analogous liquids, materials or devices is listed in the Statute of the International Criminal Court as a war crime.”

If the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces are successful in regaining control of Raqqa from ISIS, then the question remains of who will control the city moving forward. The SDF announced plans in April to run the city using a civilian council—with the help of more than 3,000 U.S. ground troops—which would further a divided Syria, and would keep the U.S. is at odds with Assad’s government.

The same president who claimed to be heartbroken over the “innocent babies” who were reportedly killed in April in a chemical attack that was immediately blamed on Assad’s government—despite evidence that suggested otherwise—has said nothing about the reports that suggest his country could be guilty of the same crime he condemned.

While it is not likely that the United States will fully address the reports, it should be noted that by remaining silent, the mainstream media is also reminding the public of its hypocritical nature.

The same MSM that provides obsessive coverage of everything President Trump posts on Twitter, has seemingly ignored the flurry of Tweets from various users suggesting the use of chemical weapons by a U.S.-backed coalition.

Refugee Organizations Call For U.S. To Take In 100,000 Syrians

WASHINGTON — Refugee resettlement groups are calling on President Barack Obama to nearly triple the number of refugees admitted to the U.S. by accepting 100,000 Syrians and 100,000 people from other nations in fiscal year 2016 — up from 70,000 in the current fiscal year.

The proposed numbers would be a dramatic increase in response to a dramatic situation: Four million Syrians have fled their country, some of them dying en route to safety and a better life elsewhere.

While the U.S. has provided significant aid, it should also accept more people, according to refugee-focused organizations and religious groups including Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, the U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops, Church World Service and the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants. These groups and a number of others plan to send a letter to Obama demanding a higher cap on the number of refugees the U.S. can take in.

“The world is facing its greatest refugee crisis almost ever, and the U.S. response has not been generous and has not been leading the way as we always have as a nation,” said Linda Hartke, president of Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service. Her group started a petition last week asking Obama to do more to help Syrian refugees, which has received nearly 1,000 signatures so far.

“My own sense is that’s not out of a lack of willingness to receive refugees in local communities, it’s not for lack of compassion and care and a sense of urgency in local communities, in churches, in school, in workplaces — it’s really due to a lack of political will,” Hartke said. “That’s what needs to change.”

The president sets the number of refugee admissions for each fiscal year in consultation with Congress. The U.S. has accepted about 1,500 refugees from Syria since the beginning of the war there in 2011, and expects to take in about 300 more by the end of FY 2015 on Sept. 30. That’s out of the 33,000 total spots that were allocated for people from the Middle East and South Asia for the year.

But the current numbers simply aren’t enough, said Kevin Appleby, director of migration policy at the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

“That’s a drop in the bucket,” Appleby said. “With the refugees pouring into Europe, it’s only natural that we should reach out and support our European partners and offer to take more.”

The numbers that the groups are requesting are high, but not unprecedented. The U.S. admitted 215,000 refugees in the 1980 fiscal year, according to CQ Almanac. Many of the people admitted in the late 1970s were fleeing the turmoil that followed the Vietnam War.

If the U.S. wanted to admit that many people again, it could, said Erol Kekic, executive director of Church World Service’s immigration and refugee program. He said the U.S. has “been absent from this crisis from the very beginning — at least on the resettlement side — and that’s embarrassing, to put it mildly.”

Officials announced last month that between 5,000 and 8,000 Syrians will be accepted in the next fiscal year, but the total figure for refugee admission has not yet been announced. National Security Council spokesman Peter Boogaard said Monday that “the administration is actively considering a range of approaches to be more responsive to the global refugee crisis, including with regard to refugee resettlement.”

Refugees are usually resettled with the help of religious and community groups, which help find them housing and jobs. Those groups say they would have the capacity to assist more people, if the government approved them. Catholic parishes have contacted the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops to see if they can take in people from Syria, as Pope Francis recently urged Catholics in Europe to do. Other refugee resettlement groups say they are also receiving more interest from people in the U.S. who want to help.

“Already all of us are getting calls from folks who aren’t currently connected with us asking how they can help and what they can do,” said Stacie Blake, director of government and community relations at the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants.

Efforts to bring in more refugees would face political opposition, largely from Republicans who say the new arrivals from Syria — most of whom are Muslim — could be terrorists. Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas), chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, said Monday that although what’s happening abroad is “a tragic situation,” he “cannot support a program that could potentially bring jihadists into the United States.”

Fear of terrorism complicates the refugee admissions process, since individuals must go through lengthy background checks. Given the urgency of the situation, advocates say the process should be reformed. The people who are admitted are typically the most vulnerable — only about 1 percent of refugees are resettled each year — and waiting prolongs the time they spend at risk, said Daryl Grisgraber, who works on Middle East issues for Refugees International.

“If the process for vetting these refugees is really slow and painful, a lot of them who have been deemed to be unsafe where they are are just left waiting in those unsafe situations,” Grisgraber said. “Even though it’s such a small number of people [compared to the total number of refugees], it’s really important to do it in a timely manner, because we’re talking about people who are in danger.”
