CDC Director Resigns, But CDC Conflicts of Interest Are Par For The Course

Media outlets are announcing the abrupt resignation of Brenda Fitzgerald, the physician appointed in July, 2017 to head the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The resignation follows on the heels of reporting by Politico, which uncovered conflicts of interest pertaining to dubious investment decisions made by Fitzgerald after she became the nation’s top public health official—including the purchase of thousands of dollars of tobacco, pharmaceutical and health care stocks. Individuals interviewed by Politicodescribe the trading decisions as “sloppy” and “ridiculous” at best and “legally problematic” at worst.

Most headlines are focusing exclusively on the CDC director’s investments in tobacco companies, which strike observers as hypocritical in light of Fitzgerald’s prioritization of tobacco prevention initiatives while serving as public health commissioner for the state of Georgia prior to joining CDC. However, Fitzgerald’s sizeable investments in the pharmaceutical and chemical giants Merck and Bayer, among others, should raise just as many red flags.

Both Merck and Bayer have a pattern of wreaking havoc on human health while striving to bury the evidence. Merck, for example, manufactures the top-selling but devastating Gardasil vaccine and used statistical gimmicks and other deceptive tactics to conceal Gardasil’s risks. Whistleblowers also have accused Merck of falsifying its mumps vaccine data. Bayer, too, has a track record of “scandal and marketing fraud,” having once paid out millions to the U.S. government in a medical fraud settlement after admitting to overcharging for Bayer’s antibiotic Cipro. Bayer also settled tens of millions after having persisted in selling contaminated blood products to hemophiliacs. At present, Bayer is poised to close a “mega-deal” to merge with Monsanto, which manufactures the glyphosate-containing herbicide RoundUp—both glyphosate and RoundUp’s other ingredients have been shown to be highly toxic.

The CDC has its own lengthy history of corruption and deceit and has routinely turned a blind eye to conflicts of interest while it works to “protect the private good.” Although the agency owns 56 patents applicable to vaccines, it has no problem shredding vaccine safety data it doesn’t like, while continuing to serve as the nation’s powerful (and ostensibly “independent”) arbiter of vaccine policy. Julie Gerberding, the doctor who led the CDC from 2002 to 2009 (the time period when the Food and Drug Administration approved Gardasil without proper safety testing), left CDC to become president of Merck Vaccines and subsequently became Merck’s executive vice president for global strategic communications. Gerberding has benefited handsomely from her shares of Merck stock.

Thus, Brenda Fitzgerald’s personal financial stake in companies such as Merck and Bayer only illustrates, in microcosm, the CDC’s longstanding willingness to cozy up to Big Pharma and Big Health Care in defiance of ethics rules. What the United States urgently needs—and taxpayers firmly deserve—is ethical leadership across the board at CDC, provided by individuals who are free from financial conflicts both before and after taking office. The far-reaching health decisions made by CDC officials need to be driven by solid and truly independent science, not by officials’ pocketbooks.

Deep State unraveling as FBI deputy director McCabe resigns amid “insurance policy” scandal: #ReleaseTheMemo

Image: Deep State unraveling as FBI deputy director McCabe resigns amid “insurance policy” scandal: #ReleaseTheMemo

(Natural News)
Donald J. Trump ran on a commitment to “drain” the D.C. swamp, and by all accounts, he has been successful so far.

On Monday, FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who was implicated last year in a suspected plot to undermine Trump’s campaign and presidency, abruptly resigned — or was fired — just a day after FBI Director Christopher Wray went to the White House to read a four-page “FISA memo” authored by the House Intelligence Committee.

The memo, according to various reports, allegedly contains documentation of FBI and Justice Department abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court during the Obama administration. Specifically, the memo may well indicate that McCabe and others were involved in an “insurance policy” conspiracy aimed at using a bogus opposition research document — the infamous “Trump-Russia dossier” — to obtain a FISA court surveillance warrant used to spy on the Trump campaign.

In December, reports implicated McCabe as a potential co-conspirator along with anti-Trump FBI counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok and his mistress, FBI lawyer Lisa Page.

Fox News reporter Bret Baier tweeted the following on Dec. 13: “Text-from Peter Strzok to Lisa Page (Andy is Andrew McCabe): “I want to believe the path u threw out 4 consideration in Andy’s office-that there’s no way he gets elected-but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk. It’s like an insurance policy in unlikely event u die be4 you’re 40.”

As yet no one from the FBI has explained, at least publicly, what was meant by “insurance policy,” nor do we know what exactly Strzok, Page, and McCabe had in mind to either prevent Trump from becoming president (which happened anyway) or undermine him once he took office (which has also happened).

But the fact that these texts became public in December but McCabe is only now being forced out should tell you that the Deep State is far too powerful. Mind you, no one is suggesting that McCabe is punished without due process, but come on…plotting against a presidential nominee? And then undermining him after he wins the presidency? (Related: House Intel Committee votes to release Simpson testimony; ‘Info suggests docs catastrophically BAD for DEMS.’)

That used to be treasonous.

What is also noteworthy is the timing of McCabe’s departure. On Sunday, FBI Director Wray traveled to the White House to read the FISA memo, and on Monday the House Intelligence Committee will vote on whether to release it to the public.

Predictably, the far-Left was apoplectic and panicky over the prospect that the scandal of spying on the Trump campaign may about to be blown wide open. Earlier in the day former federal prosecutor Frank Figliuzzi went on MSNBC to say that the memo may contain “secret or top secret” information that would allegedly compromise intelligence “sources, methods and techniques that simply cannot be exposed.”

He also threatened legal action against House Intel chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., if the Republican-led panel votes to release the memo.

Not Strzok or Page or McCabe for conspiring against a sitting president. Oh no. That’s perfectly okay.

No, it’s Nunes who’s the criminal here, according to the insane Left — the very same people who have been doing all they could to protect master criminal and serial classified intelligence abuser Hillary Clinton (so they could protect her boss, Barack Obama). And all because Nunes believes the American people have every right to know how corrupted their instruments of justice have truly become.

As for the memo, if the Intelligence Committee approves its release — which it is permitted to do under the law and under the Constitution — it’s a done deal. The White House has already said the president supports releasing the memo, which he and others feel will not only vindicate his earlier claims of being “wiretapped” by the Obama administration, but that special counsel Robert Mueller’s entire “Russian collusion” investigation is based on a false premise.

Let the games begin. It’s time this swamp was finally drained. Read more at Trump.news.

Top FBI official and former Chief of Staff resigns

fbi emblem

James Rybicki, a top FBI official who was once chief of staff to James Comey and current Bureau Director Christopher Wray, has reportedly resigned.

Fox News reports:

Federal law enforcement sources told Fox News that Rybicki was not fired. His departure, they said, has “been in the works for awhile.”

“Jim Rybicki notified me last month that he will be leaving the FBI to accept an opportunity in the corporate sector,” Wray said in a statement. “While this is an exciting move for the whole Rybicki family, Jim will be dearly missed by the FBI family – and by me personally.”

Wray added: “His many years of dedication to the bureau and DOJ, his level-headed judgement and earnest professionalism, and his steady good cheer have been an asset to us all and have contributed greatly to the safety and security of our nation.”

The FBI director said he tapped attorney Zachary Harmon to replace Rybicki.

Sara Carter previously reported Rybicki was implicated in a text exchange between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page involving a potential leak to the Washington Post:

One of the text messages the congressional committees are interested in involves Strzok and Page discussing a story published in the Washington Post.

On Nov. 3, 2016, just days before the election, Page texted Strzok, and mentions a call she had with FBI Chief of Staff James Rybicki.

“Sorry Rybicki called,” Page states. “Time line article in the post is super specific and not good. Doesn’t make sense because I didn’t have specific information to give.”

Strzok, responds, “what post article?”

Page then states, “just went up. WaPo.” Page apparently was referencing an article in the Washington Post.

The departing official testified before House members in their ongoing probe into the FBI’s conduct while investigating the Hillary Clinton email scandal, reports CNN.

Rybicki was among the FBI and Justice Department officials asked by Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) to appear before investigators for a “transcribed interview.”

In addition, Rybicki played a role involved in crafting Comey’s “infamous statement that exonerated Hillary Clinton.”

Steve Bannon Resigns from Breitbart

Home » Corruption, North America, Politics » Steve Bannon Resigns from Breitbart

After loosing the Alabama race and going into a full war against president Trump and his family accusing them of being Russian agents, Bannon finally capitulates and admits defeat.

Steve Bannon has stepped down as executive chairman of Breitbart News. SiriusXM has now also cancelled his radio show, as “the agreement is with Breitbart.”

The big picture: Trump got his scalp. He forced everyone inside and close to the White House to make a binary choice: “it’s me or Steve.” For everyone, including some of Bannon’s close allies, it was an easy choice. Almost everyone abandoned Bannon.

Gainesville 'Hot Cop' Resigns Amid Investigation Over Alleged Anti-Semitic Comments

One of the so-called ‘Hot Cops’ whose photo brought them viral fame during Hurricane Irma has resigned.

Michael Hamill, formerly of the Gainesville Police Department in Florida, was the focus of an internal investigation that began when years-old, anti-Semitic comments were discovered on his Facebook page.

The Gainesville PD Internal Affairs investigators said in a statement they’d opened two separate investigations into Hamill. One concerned the anti-Semitic statements he allegedly made on his personal Facebook account and the other concerned sexual relations he allegedly had while on duty.

The department said in a statement that both allegations come with “a possible recommendation of… termination.”

Hamill tendered his resignation on Dec. 6, the day he was scheduled to appear for an Internal Affairs Interview for both matters.

“The Gainesville Police Department continues to demand a culture of understanding and respect for all persons that we serve,” the department’s statement continued.

All new Gainesville Police recruits will tour the Holocaust Museum in St. Petersburg before being sworn in, it added.

Hamill, along with Officer Dan Rengering, 27, and Officer John Nordman, 39, uploaded a selfie to the Gainesville Police Department Facebook page in September, and the trio quickly went viral for their good looks.

One of the screenshots from Hamill’s Facebook page, posted in 2011, read: “So I find it funny that people will talk about how our government needs to do something about our economy and in reality its YOU who needs to stop taking advantage of our system and get a life and do something with your life. Gotta love reality when it hits you in the face. Stupid people annoy me. put them in an oven and deal with them the hitler way. haha”

Another screenshot of a 2013 post reads: “Who knew that reading jewish jokes before I go to bed would not only make me feel better about myself but also help me sleep better as well. here is one for everybody ‘what’s the difference between boy scouts and jews?’ anybody know? well it is because ‘Boy scouts come back from their camps.’”

Hamill joined the force in 2016, three years after he made the alleged comments.

Chief Pathologist Resigns to Expose Sheriff for Falsifying Autopsy Reports to Protect Killer Cops

autopsyautopsy

San Joaquin, California – The resignation of a chief autopsy doctor has raised questions as he is now claiming that he chose to resign because he no longer wanted to stand by and watch the sheriff override his findings from death investigations, in order to protect law enforcement.

Former Chief Forensic Pathologist, Dr. Bennet Omalu, claimed that when he was conducting autopsies on individuals who were killed by police officers, Sheriff-Coroner Steve Moore attempted to influence his medical findings, according to a report from KQED News.

Based on a series of documents that include memos from Omalu, the report claims the doctor said some of the most alarming death investigations Moore tried to override were those of people who “died in the custody of law enforcement officers who used Tasers or other types of force.”

“The sheriff was using his political office as the coroner to protect police officers whenever someone died while in custody or during arrest. I had thought that this was initially an anomaly, but now, especially beginning in 2016, it has become routine practice.”

The resignations of both Dr. Omalu and his colleague, Dr. Susan Parson, come months after they began documenting Moore’s behavior in March. Their complaints against the sheriff include accusations that he routinely changed the labels on “homicides” to “accidents,” and he would delay the written reports pathologists needed from sheriff’s investigators in order to complete their cases for months.

The doctors also claim that on several occasions, when overseeing coroner operations, Moore would order technicians to cut the hands off bodies, without the knowledge, consent or supervision of the physicians.”

A report from the Sacramento Bee noted that according to the doctors, Moore’s staff “ordered the hands be cut off of at least five corpses this year to be sent to a forensics lab to identify the deceased.”  While the sheriff claimed that the purpose was for identification, the doctors allege that “in some instances, the victims’ identity was already known and in others, police failed to attempt to identify the dead by investigative means.”

Sheriff Steve Moore has always made calculated attempts to control me as a physician and influence my professional judgement,” Omalu wrote, noting that while he became the county’s chief forensic pathologist in 2007, the treatment has gotten worse over the last two years.

As the report from KQED noted, there were a number of deaths documents by Dr. Omalu that called Moore’s conduct into question. One of the cases occurred when Daniel Humphreys died in 2008. Initial reports claimed that the father of two young children was fleeing from police on his motorcycle when he hit a median in the freeway and died. Officers admitted that they shocked Humphreys with a Taser once or twice.

However, Omalu noted that when he went to check the automatic computer records of how many times the Taser was fired, he was told the record did not exist. It wasn’t until two years later that a deputy district attorney let him see the Taser report, which revealed that police shocked Humphreys with a Taser 31 times.

After viewing the Taser report, Omalu changed the cause of Humphreys’ death from “accident” from a head injury, to “homicide by electrocution.

Moore released a statement on the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, denying the allegations that he interfered with the results of the death investigations conducted by Dr. Omalu and Dr. Susan Parson.

“There have been questions recently about whether I have interfered with forensic investigations. That has never happened. I would never try to control, influence, or change the opinions of Dr. Omalu or any pathologist working on a case, but I still have the responsibility of making the final determination.”

However, Omalu is not backing down. In addition to resigning from his position, he is attempting to shed light on the ongoing problems within the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department, which has found a way to ensure that officers who murder innocent citizens will not face consequences.

“The Sheriff does whatever he feels like doing as the coroner, in total disregard of bioethics, standards of practice of medicine and the generally accepted principles of medicine,” Dr. Omalu wrote.

Veteran Florida Homicide Detective Resigns After Domestic Violence Arrest

Manatee County Sheriff’s Office detective Jeffrey Bliss

MANATEE, Florida – A veteran homicide detective with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has resigned after being arrested Wednesday night on a charge of domestic battery.

Jeffrey Bliss, 45, was an employee of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office for 16 years, according to department spokesman Dave Bristow. Bliss resigned his position Thursday morning, Bristow said.

Deputies responded at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday to a domestic situation at Bliss’ residence in Palmetto.

Deputies investigated the incident and subsequently arrested Bliss, Bristow said.

Bliss’ tenure with the department saw him involved in several high-profile cases over the years, including the January life-sentence convictions of six men involved in a series of violent crimes in Manatee County, including murder.

It took six years navigating the federal court system to get the conviction that ended the local crime ring, but Bliss was there from the beginning when he warned one of the suspects’ father that law enforcement “was on to them.”

“We told them we knew what they were up to, we were on to them, and we were going to get them,” Bliss recalled at the time. “They laughed and laughed. … They’re not laughing anymore.”

Most recently, Bliss testified on Nov. 14 in the double-murder trial of Dwayne Cummings for the deaths of Jordan Finlon, 23, and Karl Tuxford, 38. Tuxford was found in his jeep shot five times, while Finlon was found dead on the side of Bishop Harbor Road in Terra Ceia Preserve State Park stabbed up to 44 times. Cummings was found guilty.

If it was a high-profile case in Manatee County, Bliss was likely a part of the investigation, including the 2008 murder of Sabine Musil-Buehler by William Cumber, who avoided justice for seven years because Musil-Buehler’s body was missing for all that time.

Mugabe Resigns: An Era in Zimbabwe Ends

Mugabe Resigns: An Era in Zimbabwe Ends

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)

Rather than face removal from office by impeachment, Mugabe resigned after leading Zimbabwe since 1980 – first as prime minister, mostly as president.

After saying he’d preside over the ruling ZANU-PF’s congress in December on Sunday, he tendered his resignation as president by letter on Monday. Here’s the text in full:

“State House

Harare

Zimbabwe

21 November 2017

The Honourable Jacob Mudenda

Notice of resignation as President of the Republic of Zimbabwe

In terms of the provisions of section 96 (1) of the constitution of Zimbabwe, amendment number 20, 2013.

Following my verbal communication with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Advocate Jacob Mudenda at 13:53 hours, 21st November, 2017 intimating my intention to resign as President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, I Robert Gabriel Mugabe in terms of section 96 (1) of the constitution of Zimbabwe hereby formally tender my resignation as the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe with immediate effect.

My decision to resign is voluntary on my part and arises from my concern for the welfare of the people of Zimbabwe and my desire to ensure a smooth, peaceful and non-violent transfer of power that underpins national security, peace and stability.

Kindly give public notice of my resignation as soon as possible as required by section 96 (1) of the constitution of Zimbabwe.

Yours faithfully,

Robert Gabriel Mugabe President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.”

He led the fight for his country’s independence from British colonial rule in the 1970s. The so-called Lancaster House Agreement ended white minority rule. Southern Rhodesia became Zimbabwe after Mugabe won the 1980 general election.

As its leader for 37 years, he’s been divisive and controversial, praised as a revolutionary hero, criticized for autocratic rule, economic mismanagement, widespread corruption, racial discrimination against whites, human rights abuses, and suppression of political critics, among other accusations.

University of South Africa Professor Sabelo J. Ndlovu-Gatsheni characterized his rule as “Mugabeism,” an anti-imperial, anti-colonial “left-nationalis(t)” movement “marked by ideological simplicity, emptiness, vagueness, imprecision, and multi-class character” – portraying Black Africans as victims, the West as their “tormentor.”

Mugabe preached socialism, governed as a capitalist, in 1984 saying a “one-party state is more in keeping with African tradition. It makes for greater unity for the people. It puts all opinions under one umbrella, whether these opinions are radical or reactionary.”

Ndlovu-Gatsheni said he was influenced by Marxist-Leninist, Stalinist and Maoist ideologies, along with African nationalism.

He challenged white settler racism by removing what he called “amabhunu/Boers” from the land.

Mugabeism perhaps best describes the former guerrilla fighter turned politician and Zimbabwean leader for nearly four decades.

A Final Comment

According to the Zimbabwe Independent last May, citing an unnamed senior government official, his “worsening ill-health (left him) hardly able to function properly, given the strenuous demands of his position.”

“Because of old age and associated complications, there has been a noticeable decline in his cognitive abilities, including thinking, memory and speech skills.”

“(H)e is barely able to walk and needs support most of the time. This has led to his family and close security aides beefing up support around him.”

Aged-93, again a private citizen after resigning as president, his end time may be near, a sad time in the lives of everyone eventually.

Head Of Puerto Rico Power Utility Resigns As More Controversy Plagues Island

The head of Puerto Rico’s power utility resigned Friday while facing scrutiny for the slow progress being made on restoring the island’s power grid eight weeks after Hurricane Maria devastated the U.S. territory.

Ricardo Ramos, executive director of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA), submitted his resignation, effective immediately, to the utility’s board.

His sudden departure comes days after Ramos testified before the Senate over a controversial $300 million contract he signed with a small Montana firm to restore power to the island territory.

The contract, which Puerto Rico officials canceled after the hearing, was suspect because the bankrupt utility chose Whitefish Energy over larger firms with lower rates and more experience in dealing with disaster-stricken areas, according to The Washington Post.

After Ramos’ resignation was announced, Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosselló recommended that the PREPA board of directors appoint Justo González, who’s served the authority since 1989, as interim director.

Rosselló told news reporters in Puerto Rico that Ramos is a professional and has worked hard in repairing the island’s power grid, but described his tenure as “unsustainable” and a distraction for recovery efforts.

“This designation will begin the process of evaluating the best available candidates, from both inside and outside Puerto Rico, in order to go ahead and name a permanent executive director for PREPA,” Rosselló said after recommending González.

“I trust that this process will occur as fast as possible and will not affect the work of rehabilitating the electricity system across the island.”

San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz, an outspoken voice for more support during Puerto Rico’s recovery, said that Ramos “helped destroy the credibility of the PR government” and called him “a disgrace.”

In his hearing with the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee this week, Ramos defended his contract with Whitefish Energy, saying that he chose the firm after reviewing “a half-dozen proposals” and found that Whitefish and another firm were the only two that offered immediate services that Puerto Rico desperately needed.

“I chose to contract with Whitefish because my priority was securing the immediate assistance of first responders that we desperately needed,” he said in a prepared statement.

Ramos added that he believed PREPA was unable to meet the requirements for mutual assistance with other public utility companies, “such as providing accommodations for workers and other logistics.”

Ramos also said that PREPA didn’t have enough supplies for their own crews, let alone another firms.

“We had no fuel, no phone, no internet. No nothing,” Ramos said to the committee, according to The New York Times. “How could I bring more people into that situation?”

On Wednesday, a major blackout shuttered San Juan, the island’s capital and most populous city, and surrounding areas hours after officials announced that Puerto Rico had reached its goal of having 50 percent of its power generation restored, ABC News reported. The blackout dropped the island’s power generation down to 22 percent.

As of Friday, two months after Maria hit Puerto Rico as a Category 4 hurricane, PREPA has restored up to 43 percent of the island’s power
