Man opens sex-doll brothel in sleepy Scotland village

Faith’s owner Steven Crawford, 25, says it might be “sleazy,” but he is unashamed of his business – the first of its kind in Scotland. He says he has already had clients through the door after advertising Faith on Craigslist in January.

He has officially registered Date A Doll Services Ltd with Companies House, the Daily Record reports. Date A Doll has sprung a few leaks, however. Banks have refused to let him open a business account, and Facebook and Twitter have removed his ads.

“My doll is called Faith – as in ‘Faith I will succeed,” he told the newspaper. “If someone thinks, ‘He’s sleazy,’ they’re absolutely entitled to think that, but I really don’t have any qualms about it.

“The neighbors won’t be pleased but I hope that as long as the environment I’m creating is safe and legal, they’ll understand.”

“In the interests of security, I don’t reveal my full address in my advert. We arrange a meeting point and sort out the payment and deposit. I ask for one form of ID and a signature,” he added.

Faith’s services cost just slightly less than those of a human prostitute. A 2016 study found sex workers in Britain charge an average of £78 an hour.

Crawford bought his blonde sex doll for £1,800 ($2,500) from supplier Love Doll UK – the company whose try-before-you-buy scheme got it kicked out of its Gateshead business premises last week.

Crawford is advertising his service on the classifieds ad site Craigslist as “Britain’s first sex doll brothel.” The ad has since been removed.

“I’ve had in the region of 50 enquiries and my customers were in the 30-40 age bracket,” he said.

Crawford, who is single, added: “I don’t think a girlfriend would approve of this kind of business venture. But right now I’m just a young guy who wants money and flash cars.”

Asked if he had had sex with his doll, Crawford said: “Does a chef taste his own food? I thought I’ll need to make sure it’s all right. Absolutely.

“But I know what it’s like now and it’s just a needless risk to the product. I don’t want her suffering too much wear and tear and for me it’s all about the money.”

The UK’s first sex-doll brothel, Lovedoll UK, was forced to shut down last week after being evicted from a business park in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear. That closure came after the first one in Europe shut in Barcelona just a month after opening.

Clandestine sex doll brothel opens in Paris

France’s first so-called sex doll brothel is operating in secret within the 14th Arrondissement of Paris – where clients can engage in virtual reality romps with silicone mannequins.

The bohemian quarter of the city is home to cultural sights such as the Paris catacombs and the Vladimir Lenin Museum. But now a new agency, Xdolls, has opened an establishment in the area where people can get around French laws banning payment for sex services.

Xdolls say clients can book time with silicone casts such as Sofia, Kim and Lily – a 26kg doll said to have “a big chest” and be the “most manageable” in the secretive brothel.

“We offer private relaxation areas, equipped with a TV screen and an audio headset (for VR), to make your appointment with the doll of your choice comfortable. In addition, if you make your payment by credit card, only a discreet and undetectable mention will appear on your bank statement,” the Xdolls website states.

Due to the niche services provided, the brothel does not give away its location and instead informs clients of the address when they make a booking. According to Xdolls, an hour with one doll can cost between €89-120.

The sex doll market has hit the headlines in recent months over debate regarding its future – sex robots. According to author’s of the Journal of Sexual and Relationship Therapy, the technology is on the way and will result in “intense” relationships between humans and robots.

However, it’s also been suggested the products could lead to social isolation and even reinforce abusive behaviour.

Macaulay Culkin Opens Up About Michael Jackson And Childhood Fame In Rare Interview

By , The Mind Unleashed

What is the price of childhood fame? If you ask Macaulay Culkin, the star of the Home Alonefranchise and Richie Rich, he’ll likely tell you it’s drug abuse and being dragged into public scandals, such as allegations that Michael Jackson molested his children. Only recently did the former childhood star open up about his relationship with both Michael Jackson and his daughter, Paris, and how his career and fame made him who he is today.

Culkin’s career began in the 1990’s, and the overwhelming amount of attention, in addition to abuse at home, led him to drugs growing up. According to Culkin, Michael was his “best friend” for a period of time and he credits the deceased pop star with helping him overcome trauma inflicted by his father.

Culkin met Michael Jackson while performing in The Nutcracker. To this day, he speaks highly of the musician.

“He came backstage before the show. He loved dance, he was a dance man. He came backstage with Donald Trump, because they were friendly back then,” said Culkins. “I remember he looked at me like, ‘I know you from somewhere. Oh, Uncle Buck, yeah you’re funny.’ Then after Home Alone came out, he reached out to me and my family.”

“There’s no child actor self-help group. He said, ‘Do you want to hang out? Do you want to come to my house?’ He was like my best friend growing up for a stretch of my life. It was a legitimate friendship,” Culkin added.

When Culkin spoke at the trial in support of Jackson’s innocence, he insisted that nothing ever seemed strange.

“I never felt uncomfortable, that was the way that he was, down to his bone marrow. It never felt weird. It was just the way that it was. I looked at him for who he was,” said Culkins. “At that point, I was pretty famous and I met plenty of famous people, his fame did not make a thing. I was not enamoured by him.”

Because the duo were friends, Michael asked Culkin to be  Paris’ Godfather. It is clear that the former child star was not prepared to talk about their relationship during the podcast interview.

He told Maron:

“I am close with Paris. I’m going to warn you now; I am very protective of her so just look out. I am a very open book when it comes to things but like with her, she is beloved by me. I’m just letting you know if we want to start going down that road it’s going to be a dead-end, you know, but I mean that in the fact that I love her so much. She’s tall, and beautiful and smart. It’s great.”

This new interview sheds light on Michael’s innocence, as well as the numerous downfalls to being in the spotlight — as a child or adult.

Humongous sinkhole opens up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Massive sinkhole opens up on Taggert Street in Fishtown on January 19, 2018.

Sinkholes have a weird way of upsetting a viewer’s sense of order in the world.

You see a gigantic hole in the street and it makes you think you’ve survived some kind of earthquake. The reality is that infrastructure can fail for any number of reasons.

Around noon on Friday, neighbors on Fishtown’s tiny Taggert Street — a single block connecting E. Norris and E. Dauphin Streets — were stunned to see a giant sinkhole form outside one of the rowhomes.

“Tons of rats were flying out of the hole,” one witness told PhillyVoice.

Another neighbor and longtime Fishtown resident said the incident may have been related to a plumbing issue.

“My water went out on Monday, so I had plumber come out,” the neighbor said. “He put this long screwdriver-like thing into the access line hole and said, ‘whoa the line is gone, it’s not even there.’ Whatever caused my water to go out probably caused this to happen.”

Diane Taylor, a neighbor on parallel Ritter Street, has a garage on Taggert Street right in front of the sinkhole. She isn’t happy about how the city handles these and similar issues.

“They only patch things, they don’t fix it the right way,” Taylor said. “All the time I smell gas. I don’t know if that has anything to do with this, but a lot of the neighbors also smell gas all the time and it’s never fixed. They put band-aids on everything.”

Philadelphia Gas Works and the Philadelphia Police Department were both at the scene Friday afternoon as maintenance crews worked to resolve the situation.. Six homes were evacuated and officials said the sinkhole measured approximately 30 x 30 feet.

The incident comes as the Philadelphia Water Department struggles to keep up with the damaging effects of a wintry blast that lingered from late last year into the first half of January. The department still had 170 outstanding leak investigations as of earlier this week. Customers calling in complaints have faced an average wait time of two hours, leading PWD to invite service requests via their social media channels for the first time.

Attempts to reach the Philadelphia Streets Department were not immediately returned Friday afternoon.

Solar freakin’ roadway opens in China

We are positive and forward-looking on TreeHugger, we are all happy techno-optimists who always look on the bright side of life. But there is one thing that I have never understood, that I have always thought was the dumbest idea ever (until Elon Musk came along with his tunnels) and that was the solar roadway. I used to say that perhaps the only place dumber for solar panels than under a roadway was under my basement floor, but now would say inside Elon Musk’s car tunnels is worse.

building solar roadwayChina Daily/via

But after complaining about installations in the USA, the Netherlands, and France, perhaps it is time to reconsider, in the face of the biggest solar roadway yet, in Jinan, China. According to China Daily it is 2 kilometers long (1.24 miles) and built with three layers: an insulating layer at the bottom, the photovoltaics in the middle, and then protected on top with a slab of “transparent concrete.”

According to Echo Huang in Quartz, the solar collecting area totals 5,875 square meters (63,200 sq ft) and will generate one million kWh (3412 million BTUs or 750,000 horsepower hours for American readers) of electricity in a year. The cost was about 3,000 yuan per square meter, or about US$ 42.6 per square foot.

Over on Triple Pundit, Leon Kaye notes that solar roadways certainly get a lot of attention.

Similar projects worldwide have succeeded in scoring copious amounts of headlines, as well as questions about whether the benefit of these experiments are really worth their cost. And of course, China has a history of announcing eye-popping infrastructure projects that at first seem a great leap forward for sustainability until they are given a closer once-over. For example, a “straddling bus” last year scored plenty of buzz at first, followed by heaps of ridicule.

He also notes that “other solar roads built elsewhere have proven to be a mixed bag.” Indeed. The one in the Netherlands generates only 30 percent of what roof-mounted panels would, and cost millions of dollars. It just had to be strong enough to withstand the weight of bikes; the Jinan road has to deal with the pressure and vibration caused by trucks and buses. The sun has to get through dirt and oil that comes off of all those trucks, buses and cars.

But whenever I have raised these complaints in the past, readers have pointed out that “this is an innovative idea. It’s refreshing to see such original ideas out in the world. While people may criticize, there are always trial and test periods for any technology. ” And Scott Brusaw, inventor of the original American solar roadway, pointed out that highways are a logical place to put a linear power system like this.

“It’s a solar panel people, it doesn’t matter where you put it”. Actually, it does. The largest obstacle to solar power today is the logistical nightmare of getting the power into the power grid. The Solar Roadways solve that problem by BECOMING the power grid with the capacity to send power wherever it’s needed.

So, in the spirit of the New Year and our happy techno-optimism, I am going to swallow my skepticism and declare this a Great Leap Forward for solar power generation, and hope that they keep on trucking.

WATCH: SWAT Team Goes To Innocent Man’s Home, When He Opens the Door, Cops Kill Him

gamergamer

Wichita, Kansas — This week a 28-year-old man was shot dead in his doorway by police after a SWAT team was sent to his house on a false report by a disgruntled gamer. While the full details are still unclear and police have not made any official announcements, it has been widely reported that this is likely the result of a “Swatting” prank that started over a video game.

“Swatting” is when an extreme false report is made about someone, usually involving murder or hostages, which causes a SWAT team to raid the individuals home, putting them in serious danger. It is estimated that over 400 swatting incidences occur in the US each year, and many of them stem from online feuds and video games.

However, while the victim, Andrew Finch, was not involved in the game himself, his address was given out during an argument in an online Call of Duty match between two other people.

Deputy Wichita Police Chief Troy Livingston told reporters on Thursday night that his department received a report that a person at that address was holding an entire family hostage after killing the father.

“It was a shooting call involving hostages. The original call, we were told someone had an argument with their mother and dad was accidentally shot, and now that person was holding mother, brother and sister hostage. We learned through that call that a father was deceased, and had been shot in the head. That was the information we were working off of,” Livingston said.

According to Kansas.com, officers arrived at the 1000 block of McCormick, where the Finch family lived, and “got into position” for a hostage situation.

“A male came to the front door, as he came to the front door, one of our officers discharged his weapon,” Livingston said. “This call was little peculiar for us. (The call) went to a substation first, then it was relayed to dispatch, then dispatch gave it to us. We have a lot of information to go through.”

Shouldn’t 911 be able to tell when a call is coming from nowhere near the crime scene? It is highly unlikely that the prank caller just happened to be in the same neighborhood as the victim. Even with a cell phone, what are the odds it was a local area code? It is likely that the caller took measures to mask their identity, but if that was the case police should have been able to know that up front as well.

It is not clear as to whether Finch’s address was specifically chosen as a target for the prank, or if it just happened to be a random address that someone gave out to avoid being the victim of a raid themselves, or if the caller just got the address wrong. Soon after the incident, a number of gamers saw a Twitter user make a post that said, “Someone tried to swat me and got an innocent man killed.”

The person who allegedly made the call in the first place responded by saying, “I DIDN’T GET ANYONE KILLED BECAUSE I DIDN’T DISCHARGE A WEAPON AND BEING A SWAT MEMBER ISNT MY PROFESSION.”

Andrew’s mother, Lisa Finch, told reporters that police murdered her son, and that he was unarmed and posed no threats to the police. She added that no guns were found in the house and that her son was simply opening the door to see why there flashing lights outside.

“We want Andy’s side of the story to be told,” Lisa said.

“I heard my son scream, I got up and then I heard a shot. What gives the cops the right to open fire? Why didn’t they give him the same warning they gave us? That cop murdered my son over a false report,” she said.

“He was very kind and caring. He was in gifted classes. He was very artistic. He would draw any picture … He would do anything for his family,” she added.

Police have not released the name of the offending officer but they did say that he will be placed on administrative leave.

A 25-year-old man believed to be behind the swatting incident that led to Finch’s death was arrested in Los Angeles late Friday night. He has been identified as Tyler Raj Barriss, who is known online as “SWAuTistic.”

The family wants both the officer and the caller to be held accountable. Overnight, police released body camera footage of the incident and accused the young man of “reaching for his waistband” as he opened the door. However, when a person is standing up straight with their hands at their sides, which it appears the victim was doing, hands naturally rest around the level of the waistline.

“Officers gave him several verbal commands to put his hands up and walk towards them. The male complied for a very short time and then put his hands back down to his waist. The officers continued to give him verbal commands to put his hands up, and he lowered them again. The male then turned towards the officers on the east side of the residence, lowered his hands to the waistband again, then suddenly pulled them back up towards those officers at the east. The officers on the north side of the street feared the male pulled a weapon from his waistband, retrieved a gun and was in the process of pointing it at the officers to the east. Fearing for those officers’ safety, the officer on the north side fired one round,” Livingston said in a second press conference.
