Close to one-third of drugs approved by the FDA are found to have safety problems, according to a research report from The Journal of the American Medical Association.
JAMA’s report stated that these safety issues, known as “postmarket safety events,” are “common after FDA approval, highlighting the importance of continuous monitoring of the safety of novel therapeutics throughout their life cycle.”
Every single day in the United States, 1,000 people are treated in emergency departments for a single FDA-approved drug—opioids. Opioid drug overdoses now kill more people annually than the number of Americans who died in the Vietnam war.
However, it’s not only opioids. Acetaminophen overdose is actually the leading cause for calls to Poison Control Centers across the US—more than 100,000 instances per year—and, each year, is responsible for: More than 56,000 emergency room visits. 2,600 hospitalizations. An estimated 458 deaths due to acute liver failure.
According to some estimates, Antidepressants, which are handed out like candy with the FDA’s blessing, cause over 40,000 deaths per year.
The death toll from the three aforementioned medications tops 100,000 annually, yet still there are countless others.
The study sought to identify the “frequency of postmarket safety events” of FDA-approved drugs. It revealed that 222 “novel therapeutics” were approved by the FDA between 2001 and 2010. Out of those 222 FDA-approved products, there were 123 safety issues later found in 71, or 32 percent, of the approved drugs. Actions taken for the 71 drugs included withdrawal of the substance, new safety announcements highlighting discovered risks, and issuing “black box” warnings.
These safety problems “were more frequent among biologics, therapeutics indicated for the treatment of psychiatric disease, those receiving accelerated approval, and those with near–regulatory deadline approval,” according to the report.
Products that completed speedy reviews were not necessarily as likely to see safety complications down the road. However, drugs that were approved by the FDA near the review deadline were more likely to reveal future problems.
“The authors interpreted this as suggesting that if drugs have strong pre-market safety data and can sail through their reviews, it may be a good indicator of their overall safety. Whereas, when drugs get hung up in their reviews, possibly because regulators are trying to parse weak or questionable pre-market safety data, it may be a red flag that there are post-market safety problems to come,” noted Ars Technica.
Another problem highlighted in the study was drugs approved by the FDA via “accelerated” reviews also ending up with safety issues.
The public would likely and see tremendous benefit, and a decline in detrimental complications, with more thorough and consistent follow-up reviews of approved drugs. Legislators have continuously pressed the FDA to speed up their drug approval process while paying far less attention to the long-term safety of these drugs once available to the public.
In investigative journalist Ben Swann’s 2016 Truth In Media episode examining the relationship between the FDA and the pharmaceutical industry, Swann spoke with Emory University Professor Doug Bremner about the issues with the FDA’s followup on approved drugs. Bremner told Swann that Congress limited the budget of the FDA in past years, “but they’ve also demanded that they increase the speed in which they approve drugs. So the number of people working on new drug approval has been increasing at the expense of those who are supposed to be watching the drugs coming onto the market.”
The 21st Century Cures Act, passed by former President Barack Obama in December 2016, aimed in part to further speed up the drug approval process. The Act allows the FDA to include “real world” evidence to approve drugs, “the kind provided by patients using the medication in a real-world setting as opposed to carefully designed and controlled trials,” according to a report published by the Dallas Morning News.
This could potentially lead drug companies to move away from opting for long-established clinical trials. Dr. Giuseppe Giaccone, the associate director for clinical research at Georgetown University, told the paper that this is “pretty bad for the FDA and very bad for patients, but it’s good for drug companies” and that it allows drug companies “more freedom to do whatever they like.”

“We must not fall prey to the ‘sins of communication’: disinformation – that is, giving just one side of the argument – slander, which is sensationalistic, or defamation, looking for outdated and old things, and bringing them to light today,” the pontiff said, addressing members of the Italian Periodical Press Union on Saturday.
So doing constitutes a “grave sin” which damages “the heart of the journalist” and harms people, the Pope said, adding that journalists have a very important mission which is to inform correctly and to offer everyone “a version of the facts conforming as closely as possible to reality.” And now media is often dominated “by the drive for sensationalism” and “overheating of emotion” rather than “thoughtful reflection.”
The world needs “reliable information, with verified data and news, which does not aim to amaze and excite, but rather to make readers develop a healthy critical sense, enabling them to ask themselves appropriate questions and reach justified conclusions.”
Well, in other words that means – question more, doesn’t it?
Pope Francis has become extremely popular for his open-minded speeches and unconventional deeds, which sometimes border on revolutionary. Earlier in December he called upon the Roman Catholic Church to adjust the translation of the phrase on temptation in the most famous Christian prayer, ‘Our Father’, also known as ‘The Lord’s Prayer’.
A mystery man who left flowers at a 12-year-old boy scout’s grave for nearly 70 years has been revealed to be a childhood friend who was with him just before he died.
Ronald Seymour-Westborough, 84, has been visiting the grave of Karl Sharp, who died in 1947 on a Scouting trip, since he was 18 years-old. He had been on the same trip and shared a tent with him on the night he died.
Karl’s sister Ann Kear has been trying to find out who the person who still remembered her brother is for several years after noticing flowers and poems left at his final resting place near Cheltenham.
She told the BBC it was “brilliant” to discover who was responsible it was Mr Seymour-Westborough from Gloucester.
Mr Seymour-Westborough said Karl had been his closest friend in the Scouts. They had shared a tent the night before he died, and he later found him face down in the sea.
He said he had no idea Ms Kear had been looking for him, and did not even know Karl had a sister.
But Ms Kear, 77, has still not found out who has been leaving the poems.
A BBC Stories investigation led to Mr Seymour-Westborough being tracked down to his Gloucester home.
Karl was on a scouting trip to Oxwich Bay near Swansea in August 1947, when he drowned, and was buried at St Mary’s Church in Prestbury near Cheltenham.
Ms Kear was just seven at the time, and two years ago she appealed for whoever had been leaving tributes to get in touch.
The BBC made a programme telling the story behind the discovery called “The Stranger at my Brother’s Grave”.
Don’t Be Fooled by Soros’ Great Deception-America and Trump Are In Grave Danger
George Soros is preparing to unleash holy hell on America. His so-called “Purple Revolution” is designed to produce a civil war and at the same time force Donald Trump from office.
The dreaded November 4th day of infamy has come and gone and we are still alive, we are still here. Today, on November 5th, we all are breathing a collective sigh of relief. The much dreaded Soros-led revolution against our country has come and gone and it has failed miserably. Antifa has become Antifail. The much anticipated nationwide protests, designed to remove Donald Trump from office has failed and failed miserably. The good guys have won and the bad guys have failed. The Independent Media has is rejoicing in America’s good fortune. For example, here are two reports from Breitbart and Infowars where they are proclaiming defeat for America’s 5th column forces.
“…the group behind this weekend’s multi-city Antifa rallies, claims to be “organizing millions of people to drive out the fascist Trump / Pence regime.” Actual turnout on the first day of their nationwide rallies was far lower.
The group, founded by Revolutionary Communist Party chairman Bob Avakian, took out a full-page ad in the New York Times to promote the rally, and has enjoyed free press in the national media in the past few days.
Despite the press attention, turnout was low at many of Refuse Fascism’s rallies, which were scheduled to take place in 20 U.S. cities. The exception appears to have been L.A, where local news reported that close to 2,000 protesters gathered.
There were no reports of violent incidents, although a woman accused of deliberately splashing her drink on a Trump supporter was reportedly arrested at the Refuse Fascism march in New York City.”
Infowars filed a report which indicated a similar dismal turnout with all the excitement of watching the paint dry on the wall.
The question posed in the previous subtitle is ridiculous on its face. The recent deadly riots at Charlottesville stands as a case in point. Then why and how did the George Soros organization, Antifa, fail so badly in bringing people together for the purpose of destabilizing the country in such a manner that Trump would be deposed? The simple answer is that it is all part of the planned deception.
Do not make the mistake of discounting George Soros and his criminal enterprises consisting of social justice warriorsfrom carrying out their deeds of destructio. Don’t make the mistake in assuming that these groups have somehow lost their effectiveness. Soros’s organizations are effective because they employ successful battle plans. Their arsenal of mishief and mayhem consists of a combination of Rules for Radicals and the ancient teachings of Sun Tzu and The Art of War.
November 4th was an abject failure from a strategic point of view based on self-generated violence, violent deaths, raw numbers of participants and the promotion of regime change inside the United States. Before making the mistake of thinking that yesterday’s designed protest were a failure, please consider the following admonitions from Sun Tzu as published in The Art of War. Please note that these teachings form the backbone for teaching military strategy at the military academies. And I have found these historical admonitions to be useful in tracking and predicting Soros strategies which are designed to take down America.
Consider the following quotes from Sun Tzu which have proven applicable to past Soros-led acts of violence.
“Appear at points which the enemy must hasten to defend; march swiftly to places where you are not expected”
“You can be sure of succeeding in your attacks if you only attack places which are undefended.”
“The spot where we intend to fight must not be made known; for then the enemy will have to prepare against a possible attack at several different points.”
“Numerical weakness comes from having to prepare against possible attacks; numerical strength, from compelling our adversary to make these preparations against us.”
From the abovementioned quotes, I see the strategies behind the Vegas massacre, the “hands up don’t shoot” violence in the St. Louis area and the ISIS attack upon innocent and defenseless persons in Manhattan. These quotes also tell us what is coming next.
Antifa is definitely a force to be reckoned with, just ask the concert goers in Las Vegas. However, I repeatedly warned that November 4th would likely be a dud and as I said, nobody in their right mind would telegraph a terrorist attack.
The artificially created threat of terrorism has forced America to defend the venues of sporting events and air travel. However, what security protections have been enacted at malls? One gets scanned and potentially frisked when they travel or go to a game. However, one should consider the fact that there are no equivalent security measures in effect at shopping malls or at a schools or at large churches? Now that these facts are out on the table, America, ask yourself, if you were Soros, where would you attack next? Where would your big false flag attacks occur? And if your goal is national destablization, what would you do given these facts?
Why aren’t DHS and the FBI moving to correct these glaring deficiencies? Instead, the defense of these soft targets has been made easier by the implementation of gun-free-zones. The terrorists know that there will be virtually no opposition at these vulnerable venues.
Sun Tzu would admonish America to not consider November 4th as a real victory. Soros forces were feigning weakness for the purpose of letting our guard down.
I have revealed in past articles that Antifa is partnered with MS-13, ISIS, the CIA, the FBI and the United Nations. These forces coalesce in the CALEXIT movement. They are probably responsible for the fires in Northern California, but the fact gathering still continues. The contents of these assertions form the background of my interview with Paul Preston which willl air on the November 5th edition of The Common Sense Show.
There is one thing that one can be sure of with regard to timing. We cannot fix an exact date of the coming Tet Offensive-terror like attacks. However, you can bet they are close. When the enemy uses distraction it always precedes, in close promixity, the timing of theit intended attacks. America is clearly in the danger zone.
As a footnote, the announced arrests of Podesta and Abedin are not real, at least at this point in time. I believe that this is yet another Soros distraction using disinformation to distract and mentally disarm America.

While excavating the ruins of a medieval monastic retreat on a tiny island off the coast of the Channel island of Guernsey, archaeologists came across what looked like the grave of one of the religious inhabitants. But when they unearthed the tomb, the researchers found not the body of a monk, but something far more perplexing: the remains of a porpoise.
The team who made the find are more than a little baffled by what they have discovered, in what to all intents and purposes looked like a 14th-century grave. “It’s very peculiar, I don’t know what to make of it,” States of Guernsey archaeologist Philip de Jersey told The Guardian. In the 35 years he’s worked as an archaeologist, de Jersey has never seen anything like it. “It’s a wonderful surprise.”
The island on which the grave was found, Chapelle Dom Hue, is a little lump of rock off the west coast of Guernsey. Connected to the mainland by a causeway only during low tides, it was once a religious retreat for monks seeking isolation and solace during the medieval period, and contains the remains of structures once used.
However, the discovery of the cetacean confuses the picture somewhat. It was not unusual for people to feast on porpoises during the 14th century, but then why would the monks bury the remains of their dinner on a tiny island in which space is a premium? If they really wanted to dispose of the carcass, the logical move would have been to chuck it into the sea, which was only 10 meters (33 feet) from the grave itself.
“If they had eaten it or killed it for the blubber, why take the trouble to bury it? Some effort was made to create a neat hole,” de Jersey continueds. He suggests that perhaps a monk was not supposed to have the animal, or maybe it was being preserved. “It may have been packed in salt and then for some reason they didn’t come back to it.”
But there is an alternative, if not slightly more bizarre theory. It could be that the porpoise may have had some as-yet hazy religious significance to the monks staying on the island. The dolphin is strongly associated with Christianity, as a representation of the fish, but this use of a porpoise is seemingly quite novel.
“It’s the slightly wacky kind of thing that you might get in the Iron Age but not in medieval times,” de Jersey told The Guardian.
The remains have been sent off for a marine biologist to peruse, but it seems that perhaps the porpoise behind the grave may never be known.
Shortly after the US-led coalition threatened to strike any Syrian Arab Army units if they crossed the Euphrates River, Syrian and Hezbollah troops were marching across imported Russian pontoon bridges to reach the river’s eastern bank. By Friday, Sept. 15 they were able to establish a bridgehead there.
Throughout the three-day operation, the Syrians and Hezballah worked under the cover of more newly-arrived Russian armaments, the MiG-29SMT (Nato-codenamed “Fulcrum), whose landing in Syria was announced on Wednesday. This twin-engine jet fighter aircraft is a match for the F-18 in service with the US Air Force as well as the Israeli Air force’s F-15, F-16 and F-16 fighters.
The day the MiG-29s arrived in Syria, British Maj. Gen. Rupert Jones, Deputy Commander in Chief of the US-led Coalition in Syria, threatened to strike any units of the SAA if they crossed the Euphrates River.
The crossing operation, as well as deepening Russia’s military involvement in Syrian and Hezbollah offensives, is a major boost for Iran’s objectives, with grave strategic implications for the US and Israel.
1. For the Trump administration, it trampled the principle Presidents Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin established exactly two years ago, i.e., for eastern Syrian across the Euphrates to be assigned to American military control and the west to the Russians.
2. US satellites and reconnaissance planes watched the Russian army trucking the pontoons east and saw them being thrown over the river for the crossing. Nonetheless, no orders came from the White House or the Pentagon to make good on the coalition’s threat of a strike and to interfere.
“…the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying: ‘To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates…’” —Genesis 15.18
The Covenant Was Fulfilled And Ceased To Be In 70 A.D. By Jesus.
3. Established on the east bank of the Euphrates, Syrian and Hezbollah troops are in position to go forward for the operation to capture the Syrian-Iraqi border town of Abu Kamal from ISIS. They have moreover opened the way to link up with the Iraqi Population Mobilization Units (PMU), a surrogate of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.
4. DEBKAfile’s military sources report that PMU units are already heading for this rendezvous on the Iraqi-Syrian border. This step is tantamount to opening up an Iranian-controlled military corridor between Iraq and Syria by cutting deep into the US-ruled [not even close] region of eastern Syria.
5. As recently as Thursday night, Sept. 14, President Donald Trump declared: “We are not going to stand for what they [Iran] are doing “
6. The US president was not alone in refraining from lifting a finger to stop “what they are doing.” Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu likewise chose words over deeds. “Israel would not tolerate an Iranian presence on its northern border with Syria,” he reiterated Friday, Sept. 14, on his arrival in New York to address the UN General Assembly and meet Donald Trump.
But already Iran and their allies were creating an accomplished fact, with massive logistical and military assistance from the Russian army.
It is worth noting in this regard that, in recent weeks, Israel’s generals and colonels have suddenly dropped references in their discourse to Iran and Hezbollah as existential threats.
This may be the time to remind them of an unfortunate precedent. In the months leading up to the Yom Kippur War of 1973, Israel’s leaders brushed aside the Egyptian and Syrian armies as threats to the state’s survival – only to find defeat at their hands staring the IDF in the face in the early days of that war.
No less dangerous would be a war fought by the Syrian army, Hezbollah [Lebanon’s Militia] and Iran, with powerful Russian military support. By establishing a foothold on both banks of the Euphrates River and both sides of the Syrian-Iraqi border, Iran has taken a step towards pursuing its avowed goal of Israel’s destruction. Up to 400 children who died at a Scottish orphanage are believed to have been dumped in a mass grave, research has revealed.
The Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul ran the Smyllum Park orphanage in Lanark from 1864 until it closed in 1981.
The nuns previously acknowledged that children had been buried in 158 compartments in the town’s St Mary’s Cemetery.
But a joint investigation by the BBC’s File on Four programme and the Sunday Post newspaper has shown 402 children died at the orphanage.
It is thought that most were buried in an unmarked section at St Mary’s.
Former First Minister Jack McConnell, who apologised on behalf of the Scottish Government to victims of care home abuse in 2004, said: ‘After so many years of silence, we must now know the truth of what happened.’
Analysis of 15,000 records has found that an average of one child died at the home every three months.
It is believed most, without families able to pay for funerals, were buried at St Mary’s.
As the youngsters were from places across Scotland, spot checks with other authorities found only two were laid to rest elsewhere.
A total of 11,601 residents passed through Smyllum Park during its decades in operation, according to evidence given at the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry.
Records show names and dates of birth and death. Descriptions of causes of death include accidents and diseases of the time such as TB, flu and scarlet fever. Some died of malnutrition.
It means the death rate among residents, aged one to 14, was at least 30 deaths per 1,000.
According to National Records of Scotland figures, the highest mortality rate among this age group was in 1901 when 10.4 deaths per 1,000 were recorded.
Janice Carberry, whose brother David passed away in 1952 at the age of four, said there were no records showing where he was buried.
But she claimed one of her brothers had been told the boy was put in St Mary’s cemetery ‘in a wee corner of grass’.
Eddie McColl, 73, a former resident at Smyllum along with four of his siblings, lost his brother Francis, 13, in August 1961.
Mr McColl, who had left the orphanage by that time, was only told by the nuns that his brother had died after an accident.
But the pensioner said: ‘I’ve heard from kids who were at Smyllum that someone was showing them how to use a golf club and asked them to step back. But Francis didn’t hear it and got struck on the head, that’s what killed him.
‘Smyllum was a hell. I have no idea where he is buried and have asked the Daughters of Charity repeatedly.’
In a statement, the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul said: ‘We are core participants in the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry and are co-operating fully with that inquiry.
‘We remain of the view that this inquiry is the most appropriate forum for such investigations.
‘Given the ongoing work of the inquiry, we do not wish to provide any interviews.
‘We wish to again make clear that our values are totally against any form of abuse and thus we offer our most sincere and heartfelt apology to anyone who suffered any form of abuse while in our care.’
The charity has previously appeared at the inquiry in Edinburgh where it claimed there was no evidence of abuse or mistreatment. But it has been called back to give further evidence in November.
The hearing will also consider four other residential care establishments run by the Daughters of Charity.
A Scottish Government spokesman said: ‘Clearly these are serious allegations and our thoughts are with the families of those affected.
‘We recognise the great hurt and damage caused to those who were abused in childhood by the very individuals and institutions who should have cared for them.
‘That is why we established an independent inquiry into the abuse of children in care.’

As technology advances, more workers are becoming electronically chained to their desks for several hours per day, and that sedentary work life is taking its toll, according to new research confirming earlier studies indicating lengthy sitting at work can lead to an early grave.
As reported by The Washington Times, a new study by researchers from Columbia University builds on previous research and adds to an ever-growing body of evidence that our modern workplace and lifestyle is killing us sooner, even if we take time during the week to exercise regularly.
The evidence seems to indicate that no matter our race, gender, sex, or other demographic factors, the results are the same — long periods of uninterrupted sitting is just not healthy.
Leader of the largest study of its kind thus far, which was conducted at Columbia’s Exercise Testing Laboratory, Dr. Keith Diaz said what surprised him most about his team’s findings wasn’t the accumulated hours of sitting throughout the day, but that people sitting uninterrupted for far shorter periods — even 60 to 90 minutes — lead to shorter lifespans on average.
“This finding I think will help shift our understanding about the risks of sitting by showing that to reduce the harmful consequences of sitting one needs to both decrease the overall time they spend sitting and take frequent movement breaks when they do sit,” he told the Times.
The paper reported further:
The study was published in the Annals of Internal Medicine and followed a national representative population of 8,000 individuals older than 45 for an average of four years.
The researchers employed the use of hip-mounted accelerometers to monitor how long people sat and their movement. Previous studies evaluating sedentary time and health had participants self-report their sitting and movement periods.
During the period examined, researchers said there were 340 recorded deaths. After the team adjusted for several variables like race, sex, and age, they found that the overall number of hours of sitting daily combined with long periods of uninterrupted sitting led to earlier death. (Related: More evidence suggests that desk jobs and excessive sitting are deadly.)
Adding exercise to daily routines did not seem to help much, if at all. Researchers said, “all-cause mortality” was still higher when people sat for more than an hour to an hour-and-a-half at one time.
“We think this gives a clear message that besides exercising, you also should be mindful of moving (and not being sedentary) throughout the day,” Diaz told the Times in an email.
Participants in the study recorded an average of 12.3 hours of sitting and sedentary time during a 16-hour waking day. In order to stave off the deadly effects of sitting for so long, the research team recommended movement breaks every 30 minutes throughout the day. They also recommended that businesses seeking to intervene and implement more breaks throughout the day should use the 30-minute limit as their guide.
“Both the total volume of sedentary time and its accrual in prolonged, uninterrupted bouts are associated with all-cause mortality, suggestive that physical activity guidelines should target reducing and interrupting sedentary time to reduce risk for death,” the research team concluded in their published study.
There are some ways for you to actually get a bit of exercise in while you’re at work and you’re taking one of those 30-minute breaks. Consider:
— If you work in an office building, walk up and down a few flights of steps;
— Do a few sets of 10 pushups each;
— Perform sets of 20 jumping jacks;
— If you work someplace that has a company gym, definitely use it on your longer breaks, maybe even over lunch. In fact, if you don’t have a company gym you should suggest the company invest in one.

The results of a horrifying investigation into a Catholic orphanage are being released this week. The report revealed the discovery of a mass grave containing the bodies of over 400 orphans—including babies, toddlers, and children.
The investigation, conducted by the Sunday Post and the BBC, looked into the dark secret of the Catholic run Smyllum Park orphanage. While the orphanage—which operated for a century and a half—put headstones on the graves of nuns and staff members, no stone or memorial has ever recorded the deaths of these 402 orphans found buried in a single mass grave.
According to the Sunday Post, the revelation that up to 400 youngsters – and some adults – are buried there today provoked calls for Scotland’s ongoing Child Abuse Inquiry to investigate.
As the BBC reports, the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul, which ran the home, refused to comment on the findings.
Former First Minister, Jack McConnell, who, on behalf of the Scottish Government, apologized to victims of care home abuse in 2004, said it was shameful they were still waiting for truth and justice, reports the Post. He said, “It is heartbreaking to discover so many children may have been buried in these unmarked graves. After so many years of silence, we must now know the truth of what happened here.”
According to the BBC, “Analysis of the records show that a third of those who died were aged 5 or younger. Twenty-four of those who died were older than 15, and most of the deaths occurred between 1870 and 1930.”
The Post noted that what this means is that “the death rate among 1- to 14-year-olds was at least 30 deaths per 1,000.”
“Analysis of figures from the National Records of Scotland, reveal the highest mortality rate among children aged between 1 and 14 was in 1901 when 10.4 deaths per 1,000 were recorded,” it added.
This means the mortality rate for children in the Catholic run orphanage was 300 percent higher than the highest mortality rate of Scottish children ever recorded.
“Some children were sent to the home from other places across central Scotland, so spot checks were also made with a number of other areas. Burial records were discovered in Glasgow for two of the dead. No other area we approached could find any burial record for the names we asked them to check,” according to the BBC.
“As the Daughters of Charity have previously indicated that children were buried in an unmarked plot at the cemetery, and that their records are incomplete, all the bodies are believed to be buried in the graveyard.”
The inquiry into the mass grave began in 2003 when two former residents of the orphanage Frank Docherty and Jim Kane set out in their efforts to expose the rampant physical abuse which they claimed happened regularly to many of the children.
Docherty and Kane were told by Daughter of Charity of St Vincent de Paul that their records suggested that only 158 children had been buried on the property. However, Docherty and Kane, who both died earlier this year, suspected those numbers to be much higher. The BBC/Post investigation proves they were right.
“Oh my God, I’ve got goose pimples. It’s shocking,” said Frank Docherty’s widow, Janet, when the Post told her the results of their investigation.
“He had been trying for years to find a figure and he didn’t get anywhere. That’s unbelievable.
“Frank always feared there were more kids buried there and this is proof of that,” she said. “He would have been content that it has come out now at last.”
According to the BBC’s report,
Analysis of the records show that a third of those who died were aged five or under. Very few of those who died, 24 in total, were aged over 15, and most of the deaths occurred between 1870 and 1930.
One of those believed to be buried there is Francis McColl. He died in 1961, aged 13; his death certificate indicates he died from a brain hemorrhage.
His brother Eddie spent decades wondering what had happened to Francis. At one point, he heard he’d been struck on the head by a golf club, which now chimes with the evidence of the death certificate.
However, according to the report, Eddie could find no records of where his brother was buried.
“It’s ridiculous,” he says. “I’m not happy about that. Whoever is behind this, I hope they can live with themselves.”
Many allegations of abuse at the care home were also uncovered by File on 4 and the Sunday Post, including beatings, punches, public humiliations and psychological abuse, according to the report.
The Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul have declined to speak publicly on any of these recent revelations.
However, they released a statement saying, “We are Core Participants in the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry and are co-operating fully with that inquiry.
“We remain of the view that this inquiry is the most appropriate forum for such investigations.
“Given the ongoing work of the inquiry we do not wish to provide any interviews.
“We wish to again make clear that, as Daughters of Charity, our values are totally against any form of abuse and thus, we offer our most sincere and heartfelt apology to anyone who suffered any form of abuse whilst in our care.”
Below is a clip from the BBC’s 38-minute show on the horrifying discovery.
