FALCON HEAVY TEST FLIGHT
On Tuesday, Feb. 6th at 3:45 PM ET, Falcon Heavy successfully lifted off from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Falcon Heavy is the most powerful operational rocket in the world by a factor of two, with the ability to lift into orbit nearly 64 metric tons (141,000 lb)–a mass greater than a 737 jetliner loaded with passengers, crew, luggage and fuel.
Falcon Heavy’s first stage is composed of three Falcon 9 nine-engine cores whose 27 Merlin engines together generate more than 5 million pounds of thrust at liftoff, equal to approximately eighteen 747 aircraft. Only the Saturn V moon rocket, last flown in 1973, delivered more payload to orbit.
You can watch a replay of the test flight live below, as well as a live view of Starman in orbit. Find out more about today’s test launch in our press kit.
MAKING LIFE PLANETARY
“You want to wake up in the morning and think the future is going to be great – and that’s what being a spacefaring civilization is all about. It’s about believing in the future and thinking that the future will be better than the past. And I can’t think of anything more exciting than going out there and being among the stars.”
— ELON MUSK, CEO AND LEAD DESIGNER, SPACEX
On September 29th, 2017, SpaceX CEO and Lead Designer Elon Musk presented an updated vehicle design for what’s currently being referred to as BFR. A key challenge with the original vehicle design was figuring out how to pay for it. The updated design solves this problem by leveraging a slightly smaller vehicle that can service all greater Earth orbit needs as well as the Moon and Mars. This single system—one booster and one ship—will eventually replace Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy and Dragon. By creating a single system that can service a variety of markets, SpaceX can redirect resources from Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy and Dragon to the BFR system—which is fundamental in making BFR affordable.
MISSIONS TO MARS
Our aspirational goal is to send our first cargo mission to Mars in 2022. The objectives for the first mission will be to confirm water resources and identify hazards along with putting in place initial power, mining, and life support infrastructure. A second mission, with both cargo and crew, is targeted for 2024, with primary objectives of building a propellant depot and preparing for future crew flights. The ships from these initial missions will also serve as the beginnings of our first Mars base, from which we can build a thriving city and eventually a self-sustaining civilization on Mars.
BFR will enter the Mars atmosphere at 7.5 kilometers per second and decelerate aerodynamically. The vehicle’s heat shield is designed to withstand multiple entries, but given that the vehicle is coming into the Mars atmosphere so hot, we still expect to see some ablation of the heat shield (similar to wear and tear on a brake pad). The engineering videos below simulate the physics of Mars entry for BFR.

SpaceX now has a live feed of its Mars-bound simulated astronaut, a dummy wearing the private space company’s new crew uniform. There are cameras mounted on the Tesla Roadster the dummy is “driving,” which was the primary payload for SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy launch, which went off almost perfectly as planned by SpaceX earlier today.
The live stream switches between cameras, including one mounted on the hood, one behind the astronaut’s shoulder and one facing back down to Earth. It’s quite the view, and it’s amazing.

Judy A. Mikovits, PhD has spent her life training to be a research scientist to honor her grandfather who died of cancer when she was a teenager. Dr. Mikovits earned her BA from University of Virginia and PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from George Washington University. In her 35-year quest to understand and treat chronic diseases, she has studied immunology, natural products chemistry, epigenetics, virology and drug development. In just over twenty years she rose from an entry-level lab technician to become director of the lab of Antiviral Drug Mechanisms at the National Cancer Institute before leaving to direct the Cancer Biology program at EpiGenX Pharmaceuticals in Santa Barbara, California where she had met and married David Nolde in 2000. There in 2006, she became attracted to the plight of patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Autism. In only five years she developed the first neuroimmune institute from a concept to a reality and is primarily responsible for demonstrating the relationship between immune based inflammation and these diseases. She has published over 50 scientific papers.

MAR Consulting Inc., led by Drs. Frank Ruscetti and Judy A. Mikovits, seeks to understand complex and innovative biological issues to yield unbiased integrated, cutting-edge information for patients and physicians impacted by some of the most challenging chronic diseases. Utilizing their combined 75 years experience in tumor biology, immunobiology of retroviral-associated inflammatory diseases, cancer, stem cell biology, hematopoiesis, and drug development, MAR focuses on research projects, consulting (to patients doctors, academia, and industry) and lecturing without the restrictive authority of vested interest groups, following Thomas Jefferson’s dictum: “Here we are not afraid to follow the truth wherever it may lead, nor to tolerate error so long as freedom is left free to combat it.”
On July 22, 2009, a special meeting was held with twenty-four leading scientists at the National Institutes of Health to discuss early findings that a newly discovered retrovirus was linked to chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), prostate cancer, lymphoma, and eventually neurodevelopmental disorders in children.
When Dr. Judy Mikovits finished her presentation the room was silent for a moment, then one of the scientists said, “Oh my God!” The resulting investigation would be like no other in science.
For Dr. Mikovits, a twenty-year veteran of the National Cancer Institute, this was the midpoint of a five-year journey that would start with the founding of the Whittemore-Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease at the University of Nevada, Reno, and end with her as a witness for ?the federal government against her former employer, Harvey Whittemore, for Illegal campaign contributions to U. S. Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid.
On this journey Dr. Mikovits would face the scientific prejudices against CFS, wander into the minefield that is autism, and through it all struggle to maintain her faith in God and the profession to which she had dedicated her life. This is a story for anybody interested in the peril and promise of science at the very highest levels in our country.

Daniel Shaver’s 8-year-old daughter reportedly tried to choke herself and told a friend she “wanted to die” after a jury acquitted the Arizona policeman who shot her father dead as he begged for his life on Thursday.
In her first interview since the graphic video of former police officer Philip Brailsford fatally shooting Shaver in the hallway of a motel was released to the public, the 26-year-old’s widow, Laney Sweet, told CBS that she received an unsettling phone call from her daughter’s school on Monday.
“She tried choking herself while she was at school, and told her friend that she wanted to die so I spent all last evening with her in the hospital getting her psychiatric help,” Sweet told CBS News in the interview on Tuesday.
When asked what her daughter, Natalie, said to her, Sweet replied, “She told me that she wanted to be with her dad.”
Sweet said telling her two young daughters that their father wasn’t coming home was the hardest day of her life, CBS reported.
A disturbing 18-minute video filmed by Brailsford’s body camera showed Shaver crawling on his knees as he sobbed and pleaded for his life while the officer’s partner, Sergeant Charles Langley, gave him instructions and threatened to shoot him if he made a wrong move.
Police were called to the La Quinta Inn after receiving a report of a gun. Shaver did not have a gun on him, and police instead found two pellet rifles he used in his pest-control job inside his room.
As Shaver crawled down the hallway following commands, he reached back into his pocket—potentially to pull up his shorts—and Brailsford shot him five times with his AR-15 rifle that he had etched the words “You’re fucked” onto.
“It was an execution,” Sweet told CBS. “You had a man begging for his life, and he was shot five times for what? For his elbow coming up too high? For being confused? For being compliant? Why did he deserve to die? He didn’t.”
Shaver’s killer faced second-degree murder charges and a lesser charge of reckless manslaughter, but a jury found him not guilty after two days of deliberations.
Sweet has now filed a wrongful death lawsuit and is calling on the Deparment of Justice to investigate in hopes that someone will make him pay for his actions.
“I just don’t understand how anybody could watch that video and then say, ‘not guilty,’ that this is justified, that Daniel deserved this, and that Philip Brailsford doesn’t deserve to be held accountable for his actions,” Sweet said.

Phoenix, AZ — In March of 2016, Mesa Police Officer Philip Brailsford was charged with second-degree murder for gunning down Daniel Shaver, an innocent husband, and father of two. The shooting was captured on body cam footage, part of which was released the following May. On Thursday, a jury, apparently blinded by the badge delivered a verdict of not guilty and the rest of the body camera footage was released—showing a cold-blooded murder.
Immediately after Brailsford was acquitted, police apologists took to Facebook to praise this killer cop and gloat in the death of an innocent father and husband.
How, exactly, people can claim Brailsford was justified in killing Daniel Shaver is a mystery to anyone who watched the video and is not entirely blinded by the thin blue line. The only possible explanation is a complete lack of empathy and ability to view Daniel Shaver as a human being.
When the victim is dehumanized—as in the case of Shaver—people can logically view their life as disposable. To see proof of this logic, one need only look at the utter lack of concern and care for the millions of children currently being starved to death in Yemen or the hundreds of thousands of murdered civilians in Iraq and Afganistan. These people have been constantly dehumanized by the mainstream media and their lives are seen as worthless to Americans. They are being systematically eliminated by the military-industrial complex and Joe Sixpack couldn’t care less.
This same tactic is used domestically to sell the idea that police are all “heroes” and they can do no wrong. This ideology is beaten into the consciousness of Americans ad nauseam: If a cop kills someone, then that person must have deserved it.
How else could police kill over a thousand people every year while most of society never even bat an eye?
To see proof of this mindset, one need only look at the Facebook page “blue lives matter” and the comments on posts praising killer cops.
BREAKING NEWS: Not Guilty! The prosecutor’s ridiculous argument didn’t fly with the jury.
“Omg with All the Police shootings, ambushes, etc etc . Some of You have the Audacity to Criticize this Officer….They thought this guy had a gun tucked in his shorts, as he reached behind his waist you morons!!! If you haven’t walked in an Officer’s Shoes, Shut The Hell Up,” wrote Mary in response to Brailsford’s verdict.
To illustrate just how dehumanized some of the public’s view of Daniel Shaver was, one person called him a ‘perp’ to justify his murder.
“Officer was right to fire on subject. Perp reached behind his back as though reaching for a weapon. Officer was in the right,” wrote William.
Shaver had committed no crime. He had perpetrated nothing.
This is Daniel Shaver. For almost two years I’ve been trying to raise awareness for his death. I’m glad everyone is…
Not only did the fans of Blue Lives Matter fail to see Shaver, an innocent father—who had done absolutely nothing illegal that night—as the victim but they actually thought Brailsford was the victim because he was fired.
“Now give his damn job back with back pay!!! Another victim to Obama bs blaming the police for everything,” Clay wrote.
“Action always beats reaction. Why is it only cops understand this? If he wasn’t obeying the lawful orders and was stupid enough to reach to his waste then he got what he deserved. Also sounds like the PD threw this officer under a bus to save face. Sucks when your agency doesn’t stand behind a good shoot. Seems to happen way to much these days,” another person wrote.
To the person above, sending a SWAT team to an innocent man’s hotel room and murdering him in cold blood as he begged for his life is “good.”
Notice how Daniel Shaver’s name is not mentioned in any of the comments, only the fact that he was a “perp” or a “suspect.” This is no accident. If Daniel Shaver is seen as an innocent father who had committed no crime and was killed for no reason, the facade crumbles.
To illustrate just how strong this blind support of police actually is, we can look at another post on the page Blue Lives Matter in which fans expressed their remorse for Michael Slager being sentenced to 20 years in prison.
“Completely innocent,” wrote Steven. “The video doesn’t show the fight where the suspect shot the officer with taser gun leads that stick in his leg as suspect runs. If suspect held the taser gun he could have still tased officer at any point while running. Absolute travesty of justice.”
Not only is Steven fabricating fiction to justify Walter Scott’s murder but, to highlight the sheer lack of thought in the above statement, we need only point out the first two words, “Completely innocent.” How is Michael Slager completely innocent if he actually pleaded guilty?
Now, for the good news. Despite the Blue Lives Matter page celebrating the death of innocent fathers at the hands of killers with badges, a large portion of American society refuses to buy into the propaganda.
As the following post on Reddit shows, which subsequently went uber-viral with 72,000 upvotes, not everyone thinks Brailsford is a hero.
There are undoubtedly brave men and women who put on that uniform every day and do good. However, blindly worshiping the police state and believing that all of these men and women are heroes and can do no wrong can have detrimental effects on society. The not guilty verdict for Mesa Police Officer Philip Brailsford and the subsequent celebration of Daniel Shaver’s death are two glaring examples of those effects.
