Vegan taken into custody after defending death of butcher in French supermarket attack

France supermarket attack trebes

An investigation has been opened in France after a vegan activist posted on social media that she had “zero compassion” for a butcher who was killed in a recent terrorist attack in the southwestern part of the country.

“Well, what, it shocks you that an assassin is killed by a terrorist? Not me, I have zero compassion for him,” the person wrote in a message discovered by French authorities on Monday. The activist added that the butcher’s death was “justice,”before quickly deleting the post, according to a judicial source cited by 20 Minutes. She was later taken into custody, according to Le Parisien.

The comment was in reference to last week’s terrorist attack on a Super U market in Trèbes, France, which was claimed by Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS). The attack saw two civilians – including butcher Christian Medves – killed. Others were wounded and hostages were taken.

A policeman at the scene, who offered to take the place of the hostages, also died as a result of the attack after succumbing to his injuries.

That officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Arnaud Beltrame, has been hailed a hero by the French government. However, one French politician took to Twitter to celebrate his death.

“Whenever a policeman is shot… I think of my friend Remi Fraisse,”former French parliamentary candidate Stephane Poussier wrote, referring to a Green activist killed by a police stun grenade during a 2014 protest. “And this time it was a colonel, great! Additionally, it means one less Macron voter,” he continued. Poussier received a one-year suspended sentence on Tuesday, after being charged with justifying terrorism.

A national ceremony was held for Medves at the Hotel des Invalides in Paris on Wednesday. French President Emmanuel Macron awarded the deceased officer France’s highest accolade, the Legion d’Honneur, saying that the 44-year-old symbolized the “French spirit of resistance.”

Teacher In Custody After Firing Gun Inside Georgia High School, Police Say

A Georgia high school teacher is in custody after authorities say he barricaded himself inside of an empty classroom and fired a gun as students stood outside.

The shooting, which took place just before noon on Wednesday, led to a frantic lockdown at Dalton High School that resulted in only a minor ankle injury to a student as she was running down the halls, police said at a press conference.

Dalton police spokesman Bruce Frazier said the classroom was empty of students at the time of the shooting. The teacher, who has not been identified, had locked himself inside of the room, refusing to allow students inside.

When the school’s principal tried to get in the classroom, the teacher again forced the door shut. It was shortly after that that witnesses reported hearing at least one gunshot, he said.

“Obviously at that point, [the principal] locked down the school, he called all the police in, the school resources in,” Frazier added.

There was a school resource officer present at the time of the incident, Frazier said, though the officer’s exact location wasn’t immediately known.

The teacher was taken into custody about 45 minutes later without further incident and is expected to face charges, Frazier said.

Students at the school, which is located about 90 miles north of Atlanta, were taken off campus, where their parents could pick them up, police said on Twitter.

Frazier added that the news of gunfire at the school had “absolutely” left him rattled.

“It jacked up my blood pressure by several points,” he said of his response to hearing the news on a police scanner. “I’m really impressed by how our people responded.”

The frightening incident came the same day that classes resumed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, two weeks after a lone gunman killed 17 people.

It also followed heated debates on gun control across the country.

President Donald Trump, who met with survivors of the Parkland shooting last week, has suggested arming teachers and other faculty members to help prevent school shootings.

That suggestion led some on social media to ridicule the idea following news of the teacher’s arrest.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

Hamilton County reportedly took legal custody of teenage girl diagnosed with depression, anxiety.

Ohio government authorities forced parents to give up legal custody of their daughter after the mother and father said they opposed the girl’s decision to identify as a ‘boy’ and transition to being ‘male.’

The Hamilton County Job and Family Services took legal custody of the teenage girl, 17, who, according to court records, suffers from gender dysphoria. The teen is currently living with her maternal grandparents. The girl’s name and the names of her parents are under court seal.

The minor was diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and gender dysphoria after being hospitalized in 2016. Doctors decided that because she wants to identify as a male, she should be given testosterone and sex “change” drugs.

NSA Shooting: 3 in Custody, Officer Injured After SUV Stopped at Fort Meade Security Gate

NSA Shooting: 3 in Custody, Officer Injured After SUV Stopped at Fort Meade Security Gate

February 14th, 2018

Via: Baltimore Sun:

FBI officials said they are continuing to investigate an incident at Fort Meade early Wednesday that left three people injured when the driver of an SUV attempted to make an unauthorized entry into the National Security Agency’s compound.

Dave Fitz, a spokesman at the FBI’s Baltimore field office, said late Wednesday investigators are looking into the possibility that the driver made a wrong turn at the complex, but said it is not the only theory officials are examining.

Those injured included an NSA police officer, a civilian onlooker and the driver of the black SUV, said Gordon B. Johnson, special agent in charge for the FBI’s Baltimore office. He said the SUV had a total of three occupants.

At a news briefing at Fort Meade, Johnson described the encounter as “an isolated incident.”

“I cannot emphasize enough that we believe there is no indication that this has a nexus to terrorism, Johnson said.

The FBI took the lead in the investigation, and at the news conference Johnson said only limited information was available to be shared.

QAnon: John Podesta in ill health; Tony Podesta in custody

John Podesta is a longtime Democratic Party operative who was White House chief of staff in Bill Clinton’s administration, White House counselor in the Obama administration and, most recently, chairman of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.

Tony Podesta, John’s brother, is a powerful DC-based Democrat lobbyist.

The mysterious Trump Administration insider, Q Anon, posted this about John and Tony Podesta on January 28, 2018:

“John Podesta is in ill health at the moment. Skippy was in a military medical facility till Monday, just left. Waiting to hear where he is right now. His brother is in the lower 48 in Military Custody.

GITMO journeys R 2 get the intel, they are not yet permanent residents. Again, for the record,we have never said they were there permanently. We said they had visits, some for much longer than others. There R so many moving parts that it changes not by day/week but by the minute….

No deals for the people at the very top.”

In early November 2017, it was rumored that Tony Podesta had been indicted and arrested. He had not tweeted (@realTonyPodesta) since June 16, 2017.

You already know about the Podesta brothers’ fondness for a cannibalism painting and their invitation to “artist” Marina Abramovic’s satanic spirit cooking dinner, as well as a hanging sculpture in Tony Podesta’s living room, “The Arch of Hysteria,” which is a homage to how cannibal serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer posed one of his victims.

Here are more “fun” facts about the Podesta brothers:

(1) John Podesta has an alter ego named “Skippy”: He told an interviewer that his hot temper “accounts for the occasional appearance of Skippy, his sarcastic and ill-humored alter ego.” (Politico)

(2) John Podesta likes to slaughter pigs: In that same fawning Politico article (July 10, 2009) by Marian Burros, John Podesta said that while attending law school at Georgetown, to earn money he spent two years working at Turkey Run Farm (now called Claude Moore Colonial Farm) in McLean, VA, where he learned how to butcher and roast a pig. Podesta said:

“It’s best to do the butchering at 4 a.m., because pigs should be slaughtered when it is cool, and it takes a long time to roast them. The pig is hauled on a front-end loader in order to split and gut it. It’s most important to slow the pig down by shooting it between the eyes so you can cut its throat. It makes the pig less ornery and a whole lot more cooperative than if you just stick a knife in its throat.”

Podesta used to have a picture of a pig on a spit as his computer screen saver, but his staffers made him get rid of it, because “They couldn’t stand looking into the pig’s eyes during meetings.”

(3) Tony Podesta once sent an email to John and wife Mary, with the subject “Last night was fun,” referencing a “torture chamber” (source: WikiLeaks):

WATCH: Man Mysteriously Dies In Seattle Police Custody

Seattle police are investigating after a 53-year-old man died after being restrained and taken into police custody in North Seattle last month.

Officers responded to “reports of a man in the street” at North 105th Street and Aurora Avenue North shortly after 11 p.m. on Nov. 18, reported The Seattle Times.

The Seattle Police Department released body camera video of the events leading to the man’s death.

The 27-minute video, which can be seen below, begins with officers parking and approaching the man on the sidewalk. After some discussion, the officers offer him a ride home, but he declines.

As officers start to leave, the man walked into an intersection with traffic. The video shows officers pushing the man to the sidewalk while he fights back and they restrain him on the ground. The man clearly does not want to be restrained as he continues to fight for several minutes to get free.

Police then called an ambulance, after the man requested it, to take the man to a hospital for medical treatment, police said in a blog post.

An officer is heard saying the man is having “low breathing,” after being restrained, The 53-year-old was on the gurney in the back of the ambulance when the video stops.

The ambulance crew began CPR, police say in the post. The life-saving efforts were unsuccessful, and the man died at the scene.

SPD released the body-cam video Wednesday “in keeping with the Seattle Police Department’s ongoing transparency efforts,” the blog post says.

Portions of the video are blurred or redacted, as part of the department’s obligation to Washington law that requires keeping sensitive information from police body-camera videos private.

Montreal Family Searching For Answers After Young Man Dies in Custody

One evening earlier this month, David Tshiteya Kalubi was stopped by police in Montreal’s Hochelaga neighbourhood, where he lived.

He was arrested on an outstanding warrant, according to authorities, and taken into custody. Less than 12 hours later, he was dead.

What exactly transpired in the hours leading up to his death early on Nov. 8 remains unclear, but civil rights activists are raising concerns about the case.

Kalubi, 23, had a girlfriend, was beginning a new job and was close to his family, with whom he lived, according to the family’s lawyer, Virginie Dufresne-Lemire.

He was also black — his family is of Congolese origin — a fact that has left some wondering if racial profiling played a role in the circumstances surrounding his death.

Dan Philip, the executive director of the Black Coalition of Quebec, spoke to CBC News about the case after speaking to Kalubi’s mother, who declined to talk to CBC directly.

‘A travesty’

Philip said it took police seven hours to notify her and her family of Kalubi’s death.

When they finally did, Philip says, police first interrogated the family about Kalubi, before telling them he was dead.

“They felt it was a travesty,” Philip said Kalubi’s mother told him.

“They felt there was no compassion. They felt that there was no concern about either the death of the young man or the family themselves who have to mourn the situation.”

The family is holding a private funeral on Saturday.

Quebec’s Bureau of Independent Investigations (BEI), which takes over cases when an individual dies in police custody, is handling the case. For now, it is offering few details.

Kalubi was arrested after police ran a background check and he was found to have an outstanding warrant, Martin Bonin-Charron, a BEI spokesperson, said in an emailed statement to CBC News.

California Family Sues Police Over In-Custody Death of Son

CALIFORNIA – A Lindsay man is suing the city, alleging wrongful death and use of excessive force after his grown son stopped breathing in the back of a police car while reportedly hog-tied and unable to breathe.

The city said he tried to attack officers and died from an overdose of methamphetamine.

Joshua Gonzales, 24, died April 10, 2015. He was single, never married and had no children.

The family has been grieving ever since and blaming the Police Department.

“We miss him very much,” said Joshua’s father, Ray Gonzales, an employee at a large retail store. “I’m very irritated because he’s gone and because of the circumstances involved.”

One year after he died, Joshua’s sister Kathy Gonzales, 28, held a candlelight vigil to remember him and draw attention to the case.

In January, Ray Gonzales and his ex-wife, Sheila DeoCampo of Patterson, sued Lindsay, population 12,670, in U.S. District Court in Fresno, seeking compensatory and punitive damages.

A magistrate on Thursday heard a request for a trial date next year and is expected to set the date soon.

Ray Gonzales gave this account of what happened:

He was at his job in Visalia and his son was at the family home with his grandfather – who has dementia and who his son was helping keep an eye on – when tools belonging to his grandfather were taken from a tool shed.

Joshua Gonzales suspected that a neighbor had taken the tools and confronted the neighbor. Blows were exchanged, then he went back inside.

Another neighbor witnessed the incident about 7:30 p.m. and called police.

Police arrived at the Gonzales home, which is surrounded by a 4-foot-high chain link fence and a locked gate.
