Trump continues Obama’s wars

Trump

US President Trump’s bold support for the apartheid dictatorship of Israel against that theocratic-racist nation’s non-Jews, fits into a larger picture of the supremacist nation that America itself has increasingly become. His immediate predecessor, Barack Obama, had repeatedly referred to the United States as being the only indispensable nation – that all others are “dispensable” – such as when President Obama addressed America’s future military leaders, at West Point, on 28 May 2014, by telling them:

The United States is and remains the one indispensable nation. That has been true for the century passed and it will be true for the century to come. … Russia’s aggression toward former Soviet states unnerves capitals in Europe, while China’s economic rise and military reach worries its neighbors. From Brazil to India, rising middle classes compete with us, and governments seek a greater say in global forums. … It will be your generation’s task to respond to this new world.

He was telling the military that America’s economic competition, against the BRICS nations, is a key matter for America’s military, and not only for America’s private corporations; that US taxpayers fund America’s military at least partially in order to impose the wills and extend the wealth of the stockholders in America’s corporations abroad; and that the countries against which America is in economic competition are “dispensable” but America “is and remains the one indispensable nation.” This, supposedly, also authorizes America’s weapons and troops to fight against countries whose “governments seek a greater say in global forums.” In other words: Stop the growing economies from growing faster than America’s. There is another name for the American Government’s supremacist ideology. This term is “fascism.”

The reality, not talked about in public (since America isn’t a democracy), is that the United States Government propagandizes against foreign governments and then perpetrates coups and/or military invasions against them, in order to impose the US empire’s dictatorial stooges, and then to crush whatever democracy had existed there. This US fascism didn’t happen only in Iran in 1953, Guatemala in 1954, and Chile in 1973, but it happens also today, long after the ‘anti-communist’ excuse for it had ended in 1991.

Examples will be cited here, and the silenced lessons will be drawn from them, about the actual nature of the post-1952 US Government – the global fascist victory that has increasingly emerged after the immediate ashes of fascism’s global defeat in 1945. This far-right, imperialist or “neoconservative,” international ideology has risen like a phoenix from those physical ashes of World War II, and has increasingly won – led by the US Government – against the shrinking democratic world, and now seriously threatens to bring World War III to finish it, against the now non-communist lone nation of Russia, after the US and its so-called ‘capitalist’ (but actually and increasingly fascist) NATO military alliance had won the ideological Cold War, and the communist Soviet Union broke up and ended its Warsaw Pact military alliance in 1991, while the US secretly continued its side of the Cold War and has already brought into its anti-Russian NATO alliance virtually all of the Warsaw Pact nations, and all nations except Russia from the former Soviet Union.

The grim global reality is that the US Government has become the world’s leading fascist nation. (And people around the world – outside the US – already know it.)

When US President Barack Obama came into office in 2009, one of the first international problems he had to deal with was a Honduran coup (probably – but not provably – pre-approved by the US White House) that occurred on 28 June 2009, overthrowing the democratically elected progressive President of Honduras and replacing him with a junta who were selected by that country’s dozen aristocrats (or “oligarchs”), who practically own the country. On 16 October 2013, I headlined “Hillary Clinton’s Two Foreign-Policy Catastrophes”, and the main “catastrophe” detailed there was her having assisted those oligarchs (Honduras’s aristocratic families) to keep their new dictatorship in power despite the US Ambassador’s cable to Clinton, from Honduras’s capital, informing her that there would be no legal way to do it. She ignored his comment, persisted at propping up the imposed regime; and Obama remained publicly silent and followed-through by his actions with his Secretary of State’s position, which position was to keep the oligarchs in power despite the opposition not only of the Honduran public but of almost every government in the world against the newly installed Honduran dictatorship – and the US regime kept the coup-regime in power and thus forced the end of Honduras’s brief democracy – and promptly, and for years afterward, Honduras’s murder-rate and drug-trafficking soared.

Then, in February 2014, Obama himself perpetrated a very bloody coup in Ukraine overthrowing the democratically elected Government there and replacing it with a racist-fascist anti-Russian regime that promptly began a years-long ethnic-cleansing program to eliminate the people in the regions of Ukraine that had voted the most heavily – ranging from 75% to over 90% – for the President and legislature whom Obama had overthrown. (Getting rid of these Ukrainian voters was necessary to Obama because if they still lived in Ukraine, then the Obama-installed Ukrainian regime would quickly be elected out of office, and his coup-regime on Russia’s doorstep would end.)

Donald Trump constantly criticizes both Obama and Clinton for many things, but as the US President he continues their most evil policies, and he sometimes imposes far-right policies that are even worse. One of the instances of this is Honduras, where Trump continues the aristocracy’s and Obama’s dictatorship, even in the face of its now especially clear recent repudiation by Hondurans at the election-polls: the Trump regime had actually trained the Honduran regime on how to rig the vote-count in preparation for the latest Honduran national election, which occurred on November 26th. However, since that election, the many public demonstrations against the official outcome, by courageous Honduran democrats and sometimes in the face of police bullets, are making unexpectedly embarrassing the US dictator’s support of the Honduran regime’s crackdowns against the Honduran public.

Regarding the Ukrainian dictatorship that Obama had imposed, candidate Trump was anti-Obama, and on 1 August 2016 in Harrisonburg PA he said, about Crimea, “You want to have World War III to get it back?” (He assumed that ‘we’ had ‘had’ Crimea, but his pro-imperialist audience went along with that aggressive nationalistic and obviously false assumption.) However, on 2 February 2017, President Trump’s official policy regarding this matter turned out to be the exactly the same policy as Obama’s, when CNN headlined “UN Ambassador Haley hits Russia hard on Ukraine” and reported:

The US ambassador to the United Nations offered a strong condemnation of Russia in her first appearance at the UN Security Council on Thursday, calling on Moscow to de-escalate violence in eastern Ukraine and saying that US sanctions against Moscow would remain in place until it withdraws from Crimea.

“The United States continues to condemn and call for an immediate end to the Russian occupation of Crimea,” said Nikki Haley, President Donald Trump’s envoy to the world body. “Crimea is a part of Ukraine. Our Crimea-related sanctions will remain in place until Russia returns control over the peninsula to Ukraine.”

In other words: Trump’s policy is that only if Russia repudiates and rejects the 90%+ desire of the residents of Crimea to be Russians and not to be expelled from Crimea or else killed by the rabidly anti-Russian Obama-imposed Ukrainian dictatorship, will Trump even so much as consider ending the US economic and other sanctions against Russia. This is Obama’s policy, and Trump’s policy. And NATO’s pouring US and other hostile troops and weapons near and even onto Russia’s borders is likewise ‘justified’ by this position.

Trump likewise continues Obama’s policy against Syria, which is a nation that has long been a crucial ally of Russia, though not on Russia’s border as Ukraine is. Obama came into office with a secret plan to conquer Syria, and it was fully operational by 2012, when some dissidents within the US intelligence community privately objected up the chain-of-command, against Obama’s then-increasing reliance upon Al Qaeda in Syria for providing the training and leadership of the US-and-Saudi-selected-and-funded ‘moderate rebels’ who were America’s “boots on the ground” to bring down Syria’s Government, which was and remains led by Bashar al-Assad. However, just as Victor Yanukovych had won the Presidency of Ukraine in 2010 on the promise of keeping Ukraine as a free and independent sovereign nation answerable only to Ukrainian citizens, Assad won Syria’s first-ever democratic election in 2014 by promising to keep Syria as a free sovereign nation answerable only to Syrian citizens – but as one that’s allied with both Russia and Iran, against the US and its pro-jihadist allies. In repeated Western-sponsored polling of Syrians, even during the US-Saudi-UAE-and-allied invasion of Syria by tens of thousands of imported foreign jihadists who demand Sharia law for Syrians, every poll shows that well over 50% of Syrian citizens want Assad to continue leading the country. But America’s dictators have different ideas.

As regards Ukraine, the US stooge-regime is trying to outlaw the teaching and speaking of the Russian language there, and to encourage the takeover, by force, of orthodox churches (considered “pro-Russian”), by Catholic and Protestant ones there.

As regards Syria, the Trump Administration has repeatedly indicated its intention never to end the US military occupation of Syria, though this would (if the US military occupation of Syria were to become permanent like in Afghanistan and Iraq) entail a war, in Syria, between Syria’s invited defender Russia, versus Syria’s uninvited enemy the United States occupiers there, which would quickly escalate into a nuclear war between the US and Russia – WW III. The US regime expects to ‘win’ such a war.

Nasrallah spells it out again: The US supported ISIS in every possible way and continues to do so (video)

Nasrallah

Speech by Hezbollah Secretary General Sayed Hassan Nasrallah on November 20, 2017, following the victory of Abu Kamal and one day after the meeting of the Arab League which again designated Hezbollah as a terrorist organization

Transcript:

[…] When we get to the point where Iraqi leaders will announce their final victory against ISIS and Syrian leaders will announce the final victory against ISIS, we will have to sit and talk, we will need to make calls, organize conferences and studies…

Of course, we will also need real festivities to celebrate the victory because it will be a great victory, a victory against the organization representing the greatest danger (for all) that soiled more than anyone the religion of Muhammad b. Abdillah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, since 1,400 years. This will be the victory of humanistic and moral values against horrific bestiality, cruelty and violence. A victory that will have a huge impact on the cultural, religious, humanitarian, military, security, political levels, as well as on the very image (of Islam and Muslims) and at all levels.

Activate English subtitles in video options

And at that moment, we will have to repeat that the Iraqi people, the Syrian people, the Lebanese people, all the elites and all the leaders and peoples of the region should reflect, weigh and return to the question of the identity of the creators, supporters, advocates and promoters of ISIS, that enabled them to commit these terrorist massacres [US, UK, France, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar…], and the identity of those who have stood against ISIS, fought them, offered martyrs in this fight [Iran, Syria, Irak, Hezbollah, Russia] and inflicted a defeat on ISIS and all those who stand behind them. This is a discussion to be held with depth and strength so that the (Muslim) believers do not become victims twice of the same ills.

Returning to the victory of Abu Kamal [last important ISIS bastion in Syria, retaken by Syrian, Iran, Hezbollah and Russian forces]. What did the Americans do? As this will also be useful in the discussions that will take place then. In the battle of Abu Kamal, Americans did everything they could to help ISIS, except for one thing: open fire directly on the allied forces who worked for the liberation of Abu Kamal. It’s the only thing they have not done, they did not open fire on us. The US Air Force did not hit the Syrian and allied forces liberating ISIS – sorry, liberating Abu Kamal from ISIS. Let’s see some examples of what they did.

First, they provided air cover to ISIS throughout the whole region east of the Euphrates River, between the river and the Iraqi border. In this region, ISIS moved freely and openly with its strengths, tanks, heavy weapons, missiles, front lines, everything was secured by the Americans. The US Air Force has never struck them, while they claim to be at the head of an international alliance to fight ISIS, and they prevented the Russian and Syrian aircraft from approaching the area. And they threatened that in case of Russian or Syrian strikes East of the Euphrates, they would strike West of the Euphrates and therefore hit the allied forces attacking Abu Kamal. That is the first point: US coverage and comprehensive aerial protection for ISIS East of the Euphrates, and thus their front lines during our attack and when they retreated.

Second, the Americans sent their drones over the Allied forces that liberated Abu Kamal and provided – these are not frivolous charges, but clear data and highly sensitive information – ISIS with accurate information which then allowed them to hit the targets identified by the US drones.

Third, they conducted an intense electronic warfare that worked to blur all electronic devices used by offensive forces.

(Fourth), when finally ISIS was defeated in Abu Kamal, they did everything they could to help ISIS to withdraw, to protect them and save their lives. It’s always the same story, it’s not worth repeating. All they could do to facilitate and protect the retreat of ISIS, its officers and capacities from Abu Kamal to the East of the river, the Americans did. And ISIS was also welcomed and advised in areas controlled by the Kurds, the so-called Syrian democratic forces.

Sidebar: we will have to – it is a legitimate hypothesis – expect in the more or less far future that ISIS residues are reformed and become battalions of the “Syrian democratic Forces” directed, supported and now led by US forces in Syria.

And finally, during the battle and after it, US helicopters landed in the ISIS regions and extracted leaders, people (among the ranks of ISIS to save them). We should wonder about their role, their actions, the orders they received from Americans with ISIS. And it happened in many places and many times, especially in Deir Ezzor and in Iraq. This is what the Americans did.

And their real concern was that ISIS resists at Abu Kamal until the end, and that this offensive from Syrian and allied forces against Abu Kamal fails. And this is further evidence of the extent of US interference, of their support and protection for ISIS as long as possible.

We should remember that the Americans said that eliminating ISIS will require 30 years according to some, 25 years according to others, and 10 years for the most optimistic, but the Resistance Axis in the region managed to inflict a (near-final) defeat to ISIS in just a few years. This is a humiliation for American leaders and US policy. And this highly harmful interference continues until now. These American lies and deception must be revealed publicly to our peoples.

A few days ago, a friend and ally of the United States – it is not an Iranian official -, the President of Turkey Erdogan, openly accused the United States to continue to financially support ISIS. I tell him that they do not only help them with money. But let us be content with this statement. He is the President of a large and powerful state, and stated publicly, in a speech before the people – these are not the statements recorded in secret – that the United States continue to this date to support ISIS financially because the United States is still committed to using ISIS.

And the danger is that ISIS is restored again by the Americans in the next stage, with a new name, new slogans and new forms to accomplish the same missions accomplished by ISIS. […]

Sing-song deception: Al Punto’s anti-gun smear campaign continues

Univision’s Sunday talker Al Punto, hosted by Jorge Ramos, is a known disseminator of gun control tropes and talking points, which are clearly aimed at eroding the rights of lawful gun owners. A recent segment suggests that the show might be taking a new approach: anti-gun activism under the guise of comedy and song.

Here’s how comedian César Muñoz (A.K.A.Tan Tan), whose segment occupies the last two or three minutes of any given Al Punto broadcast, misrepresented gun owners and smeared politicians who support the right to keep and bear arms:

CESAR MUNOZ: What would the problem be if a new law was made that finally regulated arms sales?

-The problem is obvious. It’s strange you don’t know. Without gun sales who pays for the campaigns?

-Well, do you think it’s ok for people to walk around armed?

-Of course, it’s a right, one of the most fundamental.

-Even when someone has mental problems?

-Without the option it would be discrimination.

Tan Tan has occupied the final segment of Al Punto for some time now. His work serves a double role. First, the news of the day is reduced to satirical song. Second, Tan Tan relieves Ramos of the burden of having to do a full show.

In a matter of seconds, Al Punto manages to levy multiple smears against lawful gun owners: Namely, that gun manufacturers directly finance campaigns, and that gun owners support the sale of firearms to those who have been adjudicated mentally deficient. Both of those are patently false, and are the latest iteration of what Jon Stewart used to call “clown nose on-clown nose off”- the use of comedy as a means of shielding certain policy discussions from honest debate and criticism.

It is worth noting that this segment is a reaction to the church shooting in Southerland Springs, Texas. Ramos introduced the segment by saying,

President Donald Trump said this week that the Texas massacre where 26 people died wasn’t a gun issue but a mental health issue. The White House sure doesn’t like to talk about gun control, but Cesar Muñoz sure likes to sing about it.

By the way, Al Punto doesn’t often book advocates for the right to keep and bear arms because they chew Ramos up in a matter of seconds- the latest instance being Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma, who answered a gun control question before talking about his immigration proposals…in a prior segment!

What this segment proves, more than anything else, is that no one on Al Punto seems to be able to handle serious and honest debate on guns. In the alternative, we get comedy.

Cowards.

Although stores are closed, TJ Maxx continues to pay employees in Puerto Rico

The owner of the Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and HomeGoods chains has been getting some rave reviews of late, but the praise has nothing to do with bargain-priced clothing or housewares.

Framingham-based TJX Cos. is being praised for continuing to pay its employees in hurricane-battered Puerto Rico, even as its stores there remain closed six weeks after the devastating storm left residents and businesses without electricity and fresh water.

The retailer confirmed that workers at all of its 29 Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and HomeGoods stores in Puerto Rico are still receiving paychecks. “We believe it is the right thing for us to do under these circumstances,” TJX spokeswoman Erika Tower said.

Tower would not disclose how many stores remain closed or how many people TJX employs in Puerto Rico but said the company has done the same thing “from time to time under extreme circumstances” in other areas affected by natural disasters.

A user on the Boston-based Facebook group page #PuertoRicoStrong recently shared a post from Facebook user Iván Meléndez praising Marshalls for continuing to pay his son, who works at a store in San Juan.

“Thank you to all Marshalls stores for such an honorable gesture,” Meléndez wrote in Spanish in a post shared more than 41,000 times. He added that TJX also has supplied employees with food and water during the long ordeal. The company has garnered similar praise on Twitter.

After making landfall Sept. 20, Hurricane Maria, a Category 4 storm, knocked out power to all 3.4 million residents of Puerto Rico. Only about 30 percent of the island has had power restored.

Las Vegas cover-up continues: Police block only journalists asking real questions from latest press conference

Sheriff Joe Lombardo held a press conference on Friday.

The embattled sheriff lashed out at the public for the “conspiracy theories” surrounding the worst mass shooting in modern US history.

The Las Vegas police department blocked conservative reporters Laura Loomer and Mike Tokes from entering the presser.

Loomer and Tokes are in Las Vegas and broke several news reports on this confusing and outrageous investigation into Stephen Paddock and his massacre of dozens of country music fans at an outdoor festival.

Laura Loomer and Mike Tokes reported on the police intimidation:
