US State Passes Law Defining Any Criticism of Israel as ‘Anti-Semitic’ Just As They Kill 60 Civilians

israelisrael

The news that Israel killed more than 60 Palestinians on Monday alone, has sparked criticism from Americans who are frustrated with the United States’ failure to hold one of its closest allies accountable for the human rights violations it is committing—and individuals in one state will soon be labeled as “anti-Semitic” for openly voicing their opinion.

South Carolina will become the first state to legally define criticism of Israel as “anti-Semitism” when a new measure goes into effect on July 1, targeting public schools and universities. While politicians have tried to pass the measure as a standalone law for two years, they finally succeeded temporarily by passing it as a “proviso” that was slipped into the 2018-2019 budget.

According to the text of the measure, the definition of “anti-Semitism” will now include:

  • a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of anti-Semitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities;
  • calling for, aiding, or justifying the killing or harming of Jews; making mendacious, dehumanizing, demonizing, or stereotypical allegations about Jews as such or the power of Jews as a collective; accusing Jews as a people of being responsible for real or imagined wrongdoing committed by a single Jewish person or group, the state of Israel, or even for acts committed by non-Jews;
  • accusing the Jews as a people, or Israel as a state, of inventing or exaggerating the Holocaust;
  • accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interest of their own nations;
  • using the symbols and images associated with classic anti-Semitism to characterize Israel or Israelis;
  • drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis;
  • blaming Israel for all inter-religious or political tensions;
  • applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation;
  • multilateral organizations focusing on Israel only for peace or human rights investigations;
  • denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, and denying Israel the right to exist, provided, however, that criticism of Israel similar to that leveled against any other country cannot be regarded as anti-Semitic.

As can be determined by the long list of ways in which South Carolina will now define “anti-Semitism,” individuals will be forced to tiptoe around a legitimate subject, and expressing an opinion that is no longer considered politically correct can now be legally used against them.

Calling out this bill is not antisemitic, it is pro free speech. Criticizing the Israeli government as well as any other government is the right and duty of all free humanity. Just as TFTP advocates for the freedom of Americans, we advocate for the freedom of Israelis and the Palestinians. Only through discussion and peaceful criticism will peace ever be achieved.

What’s more, even the chief of the IDF would be considered in violation of this law because in 2016, he gave a speech comparing the “contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.”

For as long as this bill has been proposed, it has been criticized by many who argue that it infringes on Americans’ First Amendment rights. With the measure currently focusing on public universities, it has left protesters concerned that it will hurt one group while allegedly helping another. Caroline Nagel, a professor at the University of South Carolina, told The State that she is concerned the law will discourage discussions on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and will hinder pro-Palestine student groups.

This bill, I fear, will silence professors and student groups who are trying to explain and to give voice to a diversity of opinions about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I am frankly baffled as to why any legislator would consider an ideal to curtail our freedom of speech,” Nagel said.

The United States is a country that prides itself on the “freedom and democracy” it has shared with other foreign nations over the years, and there is no doubt that if the governments in Syria, Iran or Russia were openly shooting and killing civilian protesters, the U.S. would be calling for war and championing a full-scale invasion.

But when Israel shoots and kills 60 civilians and injures around 1,700 in just one day, the U.S. responds to the bloodshed by blocking the United Nations Security Council’s attempt to push for an independent investigation into Israel’s actions.

Unfortunately, the idea that Israel should be exempt from criticism, and that all of its actions are automatically justified—when a very different standard applies to its neighbors—is nothing new in the United States.

As The Free Thought Project reported, 41 other members of Congress came together to champion proposed legislation in July 2017 that would “make literal criminals of any Americans boycotting Israel—a brazen, if not explicit, attack on the BDS Movement, incidentally exploding in popularity worldwide as the belligerent nation continues its occupation of Palestinian lands.”

Then when a hurricane caused massive destruction in Texas in October 2017, residents in Dickinson received a notice from the city that they would only receive funds to repair their homes if they agreed “not to boycott Israel.”

The new measure in South Carolina may focus on public universities right now, but it is setting a blueprint for other states to follow, and in addition to chipping away at the First Amendment, it is serving as a clear reminder that the United States only seems to care about oppressive governments who commit human rights violations when those governments are not considered “close allies.”

If Any Other Country Was Shooting Civilians Like Israel, The US Would’ve Invaded By Now

israelisrael

The death toll in Gaza increased dramatically on Monday as Israeli Defense Forces opened fire on thousands of Palestinian civilians, killing 41 and injuring at least 1,700, and the United States’ response served as a reminder that if the governments in Iran, Syria, North Korea or Russia had done the same thing, the U.S. would be calling for a full-scale invasion right now.

It is hypocrisy at its finest, especially considering the fact that the U.S. has a history of cheering on and aiding protests against foreign governments. In fact, when the mainstream media began sharing reports of protests in Iran in December 2017, President Trump took to Twitter to cheer on the dissidents.

“The people are finally getting wise as to how their money and wealth is being stolen and squandered on terrorism,” Trump wrote, claiming that the United States was watching very closely for human rights violations!

Does that same logic not apply when thousands of Palestinians are standing up for their rights on the Gaza Strip, and the Israeli government is committing human rights violations? Trump’s silence is deafening, and it also serves as a reminder he has fallen into line with the same U.S. foreign policy standards that have been adopted and expressed by his predecessors.

When the U.S. launched its campaign to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad in Syria, it went beyond just cheering on protesters, and it began launching multi-million-dollar programs to arm and train the protesters, even with the knowledge that many of them were extremists who would go on to strengthen radical groups such as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

The U.S. has also looked the other way in Saudi Arabia where the government is accused of a host human rights violations—including fueling genocide in the poorest country in the Middle East—and it regularly executes civilians who have been accused of protesting, after denying them a fair trial.

The United States only seems to care about oppressive governments who commit human rights violations when those governments are not considered “close allies.” The double-standard is painfully evident in Gaza as the bloodiest day in months comes to a close.

Reports from the Health Ministry in Gaza claimed that several of the 41 Palestinians killed on Monday were teenagers, and as many as 1,700 civilians are now left suffering from injuries after Israeli Defense Forces opened fire on protests near Israel’s border fence.

This comes in addition to the dozens of Palestinians who have been killed and the thousands who have been wounded by Israeli sniper fire in recent weeks. While Israel has falsely claimed that every man or teenage boy who participated in the protests was a “militant” for Hamas, and deserved to die, there was one civilian death that was particularly notable.

Yaser Murtaja, a Palestinian photojournalist, was wearing a jacket that clearly said “PRESS” when he was shot in the chest and killed by an Israeli sniper on Friday. As The Intercept noted“Either the Israeli sniper could not clearly see who was in the rifle scope—in which case the claim that the use of live fire is precise is shown to be untrue—or the soldier intentionally fired at a journalist, which is a war crime.”

While Israel has justified the killings by claiming that their soldiers opened fire because the suspects “attempted to infiltrate” the Israel-Gaza border, a disturbing video was leaked last month that showed multiple Israeli men celebrating after a sniper targeted and shot a non-threatening man who was standing in a field on the other side of their border fence.

A man is seen standing motionless on the other side of the barrier as another man and a small child walk past him. Another man remarked, “I can’t see because of the wire” and then said, “there’s a little boy there,” noting the presence of the child.

The sniper then pulled the trigger and fired one shot, striking the Palestinian man who was standing still and was making no attempt to do anything that could have threatened the soldiers who had been observing him from a distance.

Cheers erupted from the Israelis after the Palestinian man was shot and then collapsed on the ground. The man filming the shooting can be heard saying, “Wow, what a video! Yes! Son of a bitch. What a video, here, run and get him out of there. Of course, I filmed it.”

As The Us Starts A New War In Syria With No Evidence, Israel Is Murdering Civilians

To put this into perspective, the United States, Britain, and France launched a coordinated act of war on a sovereign country, based on crimes for which they had almost no evidence, which could potentially be the catalyst for World War 3—and all of it was carried out under the ostensible auspices of humanitarianism.

While there is a tiny chance that Assad did actually release chemical weapons on his own people in order to drive out the remaining insurgents from Douma, it goes against all logic as it would provoke the actions which are now taking place—ensuring the rest of the country is invaded and turned to rubble by US-made missiles.

“The way the people that perpetuate these false flags [sic] say that Assad is gassing his own people, at the same time, he’s winning the war and the people are flocking back in to go to the territories that he has returned to the government of Syria,” explained former Congressman Ron Paul last week. “But, nevertheless, he’s out there gassing his own people, which makes no sense whatsoever and fewer and fewer people are believing this.”

To illustrate just how grotesque of a sham the attacks on Syria actually are, one need only look at the current atrocities being carried out by Israel and the utter lack of concern, media coverage, and political attention it is receiving.

As TFTP has reported, dozens of Palestinians have been killed and nearly 1,300 have been wounded by live fire and rubber bullets from the Israeli Military—just in the last few weeks—as protests have increased near the border, according to the Health Ministry in Gaza.

Palestinians claim that the protests are a symbol of their desire to speak out again Israel’s occupation of their land and control over their resources. Samer, 27, told the Jerusalem Post that he risked his life to join in the protests because he wanted to take a stand.

“Israel took everything from us, the homeland, freedom, our future,” Samer said. “I have two kids, a boy, and a girl, and if I die, God will take care of them.”

While Israel has falsely claimed that every man or teenage boy who participated in the protests was a “militant” for Hamas, and desrved to die, there was one civilian death that was particularly notable.

Yaser Murtaja, a Palestinian photojournalist, was wearing a jacket that clearly said “PRESS” when he was shot in the chest and killed by an Israeli sniper on Friday. As The Intercept noted, “Either the Israeli sniper could not clearly see who was in the rifle scope—in which case the claim that the use of live fire is precise is shown to be untrue—or the soldier intentionally fired at a journalist, which is a war crime.”

Israel has also been caught on video murdering innocent unarmed people and laughing about it.

Shocking footage also emerged online last month highlighting this brutal treatment of the Palestinian people by the Israeli government. In the video, police are seen throwing a stun grenade at a couple who is running away from them—holding a baby.

The video was taken by an activist for the Israeli human rights group, Yesh Den. In the short clip, the couple is seen fleeing to their home in the village of Burin as four Israeli officers approach them from behind. In spite of the couple posing no threat and holding a baby, one of the officers throws a stun grenade right at them.

But innocent journalists, babies, and random strangers aren’t the only ones being attacked by the state of Israel. The country is also reportedly actively spraying chemical weapons, in the form of toxic herbicides over the crops of innocent farmers.

While Israel claimed that it was just using its planes to get rid of weeds and extra grass along the border with Palestinian territory, Palestinian officials have criticized the interference.

“These chemicals cause damage to agricultural crops and harm farmlands. Israel has no right to spray herbicides on Palestinian farmlands,” Nizar al-Wahedi of the Palestinian Agriculture Ministry told the Anadolu Agency.

Unlike in Syria, we have documented evidence of actual murder, war crimes, and chemical weapons use and the US is not only silent on these atrocities but outspoken over their support for the state of Israel.

To be clear, no one here is advocating for the same action taken on Syria to be carried out on the state of Israel. Instead, this comparison is meant to expose the rife hypocrisy and the ulterior motive behind the war in Syria.

The fact is that conflicts in these countries are none of the United States’ business and pledging US tax dollars and lives to intervene in them is not only unconstitutional, but it creates far more conflict than already exists.

As TFTP has reported, the war in Syria has been planned for years and it has nothing to do with humanitarian purposes. We would all do wise to remember the false claims of WMDs in Iraq and the horror story created by US intervention thereafter. Indeed, most conflicts throughout US history have been based entirely on lies, propaganda, and false flags.

ABC, NBC Push Smear: Trump Helped Cause Syrian Gas Attack of Civilians

Network News shows Monday evening were rife with anticipation hat President Trump that would announce a plan to retaliate against Syria for apparently using chemical weapons on civilian populations. While the President himself came out aggressively against the Assad regime by condemning them along with their Russian and Iranian backers, both ABC and NBC pushed a smear by Senator John McCain (R-Ari.) blaming Trump for the attack. Meanwhile, CBS failed to report the President’s condemnation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

During his report of President Trump’s promised action against Syria on World News Tonight, ABC White House correspondent Jon Karl used Trump’s desire to pull troops out of the war-torn country against him:

Just last week, the President said he wanted to pull American troops out of Syria soon. (…) But Senator John McCain said the President had, quote, “signaled to the world that the United States would prematurely withdraw from Syria,’ saying Assad was ‘emboldened by American inaction.”

Karl even threw in a clip of himself asking White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders a ridiculous question about it. “Sarah, didn’t the President, by saying that he wants to get out of Syria, essentially give a green light to Assad to do this?” he wondered during the press briefing.

On NBC Nightly News, White House correspondent Hallie Jackson also used McCain’s words to bludgeon the administration. “The White House dismissing critics who point to these remarks from the president last week,” she said. “Some like Republican Senator John McCain worry that emboldened Assad. Now, a president reluctant to keep the U.S. military involved perhaps perceives no choice.

Although they didn’t mention McCain’s smear, CBS Evening News did fail to mention President Trump’s by-name condemnation of President Putin. “Both he and the White House ambassador Nikki Haley at the United Nations condemned the Syrian attack,” announced anchor, Jeff Glor. He played a clip of U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley condemning Russia but only played a clip of Trump condemning the “atrocious attack.”

Glor’s silence about Trump’s role in causing Syria’s gas attack stands in sharp contrast to his predecessor, Scott Pelley. When Assad first gassed his people under a new Trump presidency one year ago, Pelley insinuated Trump was responsible. “The attack came five days after the Trump administration signaled that the Syrian dictator would not be held accountable for the slaughter of his people. The Trump administration said Bashar al-Assad could remain in power, a reversal of Obama-era policy that said Assad had to go,” Pelley chided at the time.

ABC and NBC did report Trump’s condemnation of Putin via tweet and in a statement before the press. “For the first time, the President directly criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin, Assad’s most powerful supporter. ‘President Putin, Russia and Iran are responsible for backing animal Assad. Big price to pay,’” Karl reported.

Karl then noted he asked Trump about blaming Putin while in the Cabinet Room:

KARL: Today, we asked the President about that. Does Putin bear responsibility for this?

DONALD TRUMP: He may, yeah, he may. And if he does, it’s going to be very tough. Very tough.

KARL: He will pay a price if he’s behind this?

TRUMP: Everybody is going to pay a price. He will, everybody will.

While ABC and NBC were pushing McCain’s attack against the President, they failed to give their viewers the full context of the events. Simply put, they omitted the Obama administration’s previous claim that they had weeded out all of Bashar al-Assad’s chemical weapon stockpiles. Former Secretary of State John Kerry even did a victory lap via the media.

Horrifying Video Shows Israeli Military Target Civilians with Chemical Weapon Drone

dronedrone

Palestine — (ZH) For the first time, Lebanon-based Al-Mayadeen TV released new dramatic footage showing Israeli forces using a weaponized unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) against a Hamas rally in the Gaza Strip, according to the Times of Israel.

The short video clip published by Al-Mayadeen shows a weaponized unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) targeting demonstrations in the southern Gaza Strip, controlled by the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

The UAV is seen flying through the skies above hundreds of protestors, while operators of the aircraft drop chemical weapons into the crowd. The Times of Israel states that the UAV released tear gas, formally known as a lachrymator agent, which causes severe eye and respiratory pain, skin inflammation, bleeding, and even blindness.

The intense footage could provide us with the early knowledge that governments are willing to use high-tech military technology against civilians in a non-combat environment…

Israeli Border Police Deputy Commissioner Yaakov Shabtai, the government official behind the deployment of the weaponized unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), told Hadashot TV news that the tear gas drone provides security forces with an extended range to hurl chemical weapons at protestors.

“Beyond the fact that this equipment neutralizes any danger to the troops, it enables reaching places that until now we could not get to,” Shabtai told Hadashot TV news.

The weaponized unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) “can carry up to six canisters at a time, and drop them individually, as clusters, or all at the same time,” said the Times of Israel.

The Israeli-based online newspaper did not provide the manufacture’s name of the UAV, but it is rumored that ISPRA Ltd in Herzelya, Israel, is the developer of the drone, dubbed Cyclone Riot Control Drone System.

ISPRA’s Anti Riot Drone provides law enforcement units with an extremely large range mode of work, enabling them to react against rioters and demonstrators at an early stage of the event, at a distance while avoiding direct confrontation with rioters. This unique and innovative solution, developed by Ispra, allows law enforcement units to react when a barrier or obstacle is separating between the parties. With several drones, a continuous presence over the rioters can be maintained, dispersing non-lethal ammunition and providing commanders with real-time video image of the situation on the ground.

Developers of ISPRA present a short informational video of how the chemical weapon drone works.

The Times of Israel adds that Israeli officials are preparing for months of border protests, which will lead to a large demonstration on May 15. According to an Israeli TV report, Hamas, a Palestinian Sunni-Islamic fundamentalist organization, has budgeted $10 million to fund the upcoming protests.

“We want to frighten the Israelis with the images of massive crowds of people who peaceably gather and sit close to the border,” Hamas spokesman Ahmed Abu Retaima recently told Bloomberg.

Retaima added, “We are working to bring out more than 100,000 people for the march.”

Meanwhile, Sputnik news agency states that Israel did not sign the Chemical Weapons Convention of 1993, which enables the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to legally deploy chemical weapons such as tear gas against civilians.

“The use of tear gas in quelling civil disturbances is legal; however, the use of tear gas in warfare was banned by the Chemical Weapons Convention of 1993, to which Israel was not a signatory, but has acceded.”

Israel’s decision blend high-tech drone technology coupled with chemical weapons against civilians paints a turbulent outlook for spring uprisings in the region. Nevertheless, please do not mention this technology to the countless militarized police forces across the United States; otherwise, this dystopian technology is coming to a town near you.

Militants kill 4 civilians trying to escape E. Ghouta – media

The four civilians were trying to pass through a recently opened humanitarian corridor from Jisrein to Mlekha during the twelfth humanitarian pause, SANA reported citing its journalist on the ground on Saturday.

The same area saw an increased number of confrontations between locals and militants after the opening of Jisrein-Mlekha checkpoint on Thursday, according to spokesman for the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria, Major General Vladimir Zolotukhin.

“After the opening of an additional checkpoint in the direction of Jisrein-Mlekha area, the Syrian side has registered increased number of clashes between the civilians and the militants who are blocking the exits from the area,” Zolotukhin told reporters.

On Friday, the Russian military said that the first group of militants surrendered their arms and left the rebel-controlled Damascus suburb through Muhayam al-Wafideen corridor. An increasing number of rebel fighters in Syria seek to disassociate themselves from Jabhat Al-Nusra terrorists, according to the head of the Reconciliation Center, Major General Yury Yevtushenko.

Militants in Eastern Ghouta have been blocking civilians trying to leave the suburb since the first humanitarian corridor was opened at the end of February. The Russian military has repeatedly said that terrorists use civilians as human shields and their homes as shelters.
