U.S. Citizens Say They Were Detained By Border Patrol Agent For ‘Speaking Spanish’

Two U.S. citizens said they were detained last week by a Border Patrol agent in Montana after he overheard them speaking Spanish to each other in a convenience store.

Ana Suda and Mimi Hernandez said they’d popped into the store in Havre, a small town near the border with Canada, early Wednesday morning when they were approached by a uniformed Border Patrol agent, KRTV reported.

The two women, who are Mexican American, had been chatting in Spanish while waiting in line to pay for eggs and milk when ― to their incredulity ― the agent asked them for their IDs.

“I looked at him like, ‘Are you serious?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, very serious.’” Suda, who was born in Texas, told The Washington Post of the encounter.

Outside, in the parking lot, Suda began filming the agent on her phone. She asked him why he’d been compelled to detain them. He told her that their use of Spanish had caught his attention.

“Ma’am, the reason I asked you for your ID is because I came in here, and I saw that you guys are speaking Spanish, which is very unheard of up here,” the agent can be heard saying in the cellphone footage.

He then denied that the women had been racially profiled.

“It has nothing to do with that,” the agent said in the clip. “It’s the fact that it has to do with you guys speaking Spanish in the store ― in a state where it’s predominantly English-speaking.”

Suda told MTN News that even after seeing their IDs, the agent did not let them leave the parking lot for about 35 minutes. She said her husband, a former probation officer with the Montana Department of Corrections, criticized the agent for overstepping the limits of his position.

“He thinks it is very bad what this guy was doing because he does not have the right to do it,” Suda told the outlet.

A spokesman for U.S. Customs and Border Protection told HuffPost on Monday that the agency was reviewing the incident to ensure “all appropriate policies were followed.”

“U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents and officers are committed to treating everyone with professionalism, dignity and respect while enforcing the laws of the United States,” the rep said in a statement. “Although most Border Patrol work is conducted in the immediate border area, agents have broad law enforcement authorities and are not limited to a specific geography within the United States. They have the authority to question individuals, make arrests, and take and consider evidence.”

According to the CBP website, the Havre Border Patrol Sector, headquartered in Havre, is “responsible for 456 miles of border area between Montana and Canada, Wyoming, Colorado and Utah, as well as, part of Idaho.”

Suda, who plans to take legal action over the incident, said she and Hernandez were deeply shaken by the encounter and remained in shock.

“My family was asking me, because my family is still in Texas, and they were asking me, how is Montana about this? I said I have never had a problem before,” she told MTN News. “I say Montana is perfect. I love the people here, the people are so nice. It is nicer than other states. I cannot believe this happened.”

She said she was especially alarmed by her 7-year-old daughter’s reaction to the incident.

“When she saw the video, she was like, ‘Mom, we can’t speak Spanish anymore?’” Suda told the Post. “I said ‘No. You be proud. You are smart. You speak two languages.’ This is more for her.”

People on social media have reacted with horror to Suda’s video and story.

“Since when is speaking a foreign language criminally suspect?” asked one Twitter user on Sunday.

This story has been updated with comments from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

As Texas Shooter Killed Unarmed Citizens, FBI Admits Armed Citizens Stopped 4 Recent Mass Shootings

texastexas

On Friday, a deranged teenager broke multiple gun laws—that were in place to prevent exactly what happened—and began shooting up Santa Fe High School in Texas. All the gun control measures in place did not stop a criminal juvenile from obtaining two guns and walking onto his school campus to kill people. What actually stopped him, however, was guns, lots of them.

The police officers responding to the shooting were all heavily armed and it was only because of their weapons that they brought in the shooter. Good guys with guns are what stop bad guys with guns.

However, police cannot be everywhere all the time. If citizens were disarmed and were forced to rely entirely on police to protect them, rest assured that the bad guys who don’t follow the law would rain terror down on the defenseless population.

In fact, according to a recent FBI report, good guys with guns—who are not police officers—have stopped multiple mass shootings, just like the one in Santa Fe, Texas.

According to the FBI report, citizens successfully intervened in eight active shooter incidents in 2016 and 2017. These heroic citizens prevented or helped to stop what could’ve been some of the worst shooting incidents in US history.

As the report notes, citizens “safely and successfully” ended the shooting by confronting the shooter—not police.

“Their selfless actions likely saved many lives,” the report stated.

Out of those eight incidents, four of the heroic citizens were carrying legal firearms and stopped the shooters in their tracks. In two of those incidents, the citizens actually exchanged fire with the shooters, illustrating how a properly trained—and armed—citizen can be an effective deterrent in mass shootings.

In the other two incidents, the armed citizens held the shooters at gunpoint until police arrived.

One of the most high profile cases of citizen intervention in a mass shooting happened in the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas last year.

According to The New York Post:

The man hailed as a hero for confronting the Texas mass shooter during his rampage is a sharpshooting plumber with no military background — who hit the gunman through a gap in his body armor, according to a report.

Stephen Willeford managed to shoot Devin Kelley before jumping in another man’s truck and chasing him down, the Daily Mail reported…

Texas Department of Public Safety chief Freeman Martin said Willeford “grabbed his rifle and engaged the suspect” after Kelley left the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, where he opened fire with an assault rifle and killed 26 people.

An area resident told the paper that Willeford, an avid biker who attends another church, learned about the shooting when his daughter called to say a man clad in body armor was shooting worshipers.

The local said that although Willeford has no military background, he didn’t hesitate when he came face to face with the suspect — and managed to squeeze off a round that struck the gunman, who had dropped his Ruger AR-15 variant.

On that fateful Sunday morning, the two men were strangers but came together to try and stop an act of heinous evil that likely saved countless lives.

In another incident, just nine days after the shooting in Texas, Travis Green began shooting up a Dollar General store in Cheektowaga, New York. A citizen ran down Green with his car, causing him to drop his gun and flee. Countless lives were saved that day.

According to the report, there were actually 50 active shooter incidents. In the other incidents, police officers—with guns—moved in to prevent further carnage and 11 of the shooters were killed by police.

The FBI defined these incidents as “one or more individuals actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a populated area.” Nearly 10 percent of them were stopped by good guys with guns. Nearly twenty percent were stopped by citizens and not the police.

As the gun grabbers begin to use this incident to pass more laws that criminals will not follow and that will disarm law abiding citizens, remember that even the government admits that the thing most likely to stop a bad guy with a gun…is a good guy with a gun.

Irish Citizens Coerced to House Muslim Immigrants

Do you remember your American History when the British demanded that the colonists housed British soldiers? After the war, we passed the 3rd Amendment which prohibited quartering. Unfortunately, for the citizens of Ireland, they do not have a 3rd Amendment and they are being coerced to take in Muslim immigrants into their Irish Catholic homes. One has to wonder when the globalists will ignore the law and do the same thing here?

Palantir Using War on Terror Tools to Track American Citizens

Palantir Using War on Terror Tools to Track American Citizens

April 19th, 2018

Via: Bloomberg:

The LAPD uses Palantir’s Gotham product for Operation Laser, a program to identify and deter people likely to commit crimes. Information from rap sheets, parole reports, police interviews, and other sources is fed into the system to generate a list of people the department defines as chronic offenders, says Craig Uchida, whose consulting firm, Justice & Security Strategies Inc., designed the Laser system. The list is distributed to patrolmen, with orders to monitor and stop the pre-crime suspects as often as possible, using excuses such as jaywalking or fix-it tickets. At each contact, officers fill out a field interview card with names, addresses, vehicles, physical descriptions, any neighborhood intelligence the person offers, and the officer’s own observations on the subject.

The cards are digitized in the Palantir system, adding to a constantly expanding surveillance database that’s fully accessible without a warrant. Tomorrow’s data points are automatically linked to today’s, with the goal of generating investigative leads. Say a chronic offender is tagged as a passenger in a car that’s pulled over for a broken taillight. Two years later, that same car is spotted by an automatic license plate reader near a crime scene 200 miles across the state. As soon as the plate hits the system, Palantir alerts the officer who made the original stop that a car once linked to the chronic offender was spotted near a crime scene.

The platform is supplemented with what sociologist Sarah Brayne calls the secondary surveillance network: the web of who is related to, friends with, or sleeping with whom. One woman in the system, for example, who wasn’t suspected of committing any crime, was identified as having multiple boyfriends within the same network of associates, says Brayne, who spent two and a half years embedded with the LAPD while researching her dissertation on big-data policing at Princeton University and who’s now an associate professor at the University of Texas at Austin. “Anybody who logs into the system can see all these intimate ties, she says. To widen the scope of possible connections, she adds, the LAPD has also explored purchasing private data, including social media, foreclosure, and toll road information, camera feeds from hospitals, parking lots, and universities, and delivery information from Papa John’s International Inc. and Pizza Hut LLC.

China readying Social Credit System where citizens receive scores based on their online obedience to the state

Image: China readying Social Credit System where citizens receive scores based on their online obedience to the state

(Natural News)
China is planning to implement a system wherein its citizens will be ranked and given ratings based on a certain set of specified criteria, like social media activity and online obedience to the state. The system, called the Social Credit System, is said to be in place for a country-wide launch some time in 2020. Some Chinese citizens don’t seem to be bothered by it at all, but many have expressed staunch opposition.

[Editor’s note: The U.S. deep state uses China as a “proving grounds” for police state surveillance and tracking systems that will be deployed in the United States. Read this story carefully, because it describes exactly what’s coming soon to America… and in fact is already under way via the censorship / obedience tactics of Google, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.]

Right now, Chinese citizens are already subjected to country-wide surveillance systems and censorship schemes run by the government itself, and many people across the world have called these acts inhumane and highly unethical. Yet China keeps outperforming basically everyone in matters of technological innovation, and it remains a hub of high-tech inventions.

The Social Credit System, according to online reports, will be a government-imposed “citizen score” that can be used to measure your worth to employers, private institutions, and even other individuals. It is said that it could be used by hiring managers to decide whether or not to offer you a job, or by banks to decide whether or not you should be given a loan.

The vast amount of data needed to make this kind of system a success is already available – in large quantities – thanks to China’s thriving digital economy. According to James Gautrey, a technologist who works at the investment manager Schroders, the existence of services like WeChat can only help to turn this vision of the future into a reality. “WeChat has a billion users,” he said. “So by capturing its data, the government can see what all those people are thinking and doing. It’s a dream for them.”(Related: Real life sci-fi: Minority Report-style security system in China called “Dragonfly Eye” uses AI to identify criminals using a massive facial recognition database.)

Indeed, the existing surveillance and censorship systems in the country might play a huge role in the completion of the forthcoming Social Credit System. And as for the Chinese citizens themselves, they evidently don’t seem to mind.

A recent survey conducted on Chinese consumers, conducted by Dentsu Aegis, reportedly showed that there is enough trust in the government to implement such a system successfully and without worry. Based on the official survey results, 70 percent of the participants – of which there were 20,000 – believe that it will have a positive impact on society.

Francis Lam, the head of technology and innovation at marketing agency Iscobar China, believes that the reason for this is quite clear. “Digital services gives us more freedom and make lots of things more convenient,” he said. “They help us enjoy life even more.” And so, he thinks it is far more likely for the Chinese to embrace the Social Credit System instead of fighting against it.

It also ties in to the country’s current culture of innovation “Chinese technology companies are no longer just copycats,” explained Lam. “People feel proud of the advances made and of how they affect our status in a global sense. So they are willing to try anything new.”

With all of that said, the implementation of such a system can still be quite dangerous. It is exclusionary by design, and may end up harming the lives of millions of individuals if they don’t conform to what the prescribed “online behavior” should be according to the government. Such a system is unprecedented, so it would be difficult to predict exactly how it will affect the economy and society at large. But it is sure to crush any remaining last hope of freedom for the citizens of China, who already live under the cruel thumb of communism.

Hypocrisy Defined: The Same Gov’t That Spies on Its Citizens is Lecturing Facebook CEO for Same Thing

privacyprivacy

Members of the same government that is responsible for violating privacy laws and illegally collecting data from its citizens, openly lectured the CEO of a company for violating privacy laws and illegally collecting data from its users—a case of irony that could only play out in a country that brags about the unprecedented freedom enjoyed by its citizens.

The special congressional hearing on Facebook’s use of user data lasted for five hours on Tuesday, and the word “privacy” was mentioned nearly 100 times. While there were a number of questions as to whether Senators Diane Feinstein and Chuck Grassley—who are both 84 years old—fully grasped the concept of Facebook and its business model, the concerns about how the social media giant is treating its users was overwhelming.

“Consumers ought to have clearer information, not opaque policies and complex click-through consent pages. The tech industry has an obligation to respond to widespread and growing concerns over data privacy and security and to restore the public’s trust,” Grassley said. “The status quo no longer works. Moreover, Congress must determine if and how we need to strengthen privacy standards to ensure transparency and understanding for the billions of consumers who utilize these products.”

Sen. Bill Nelson, 75, insisted that if Facebook does not ensure privacy for its users, then Americans’ personal privacy will be jeopardized, requiring the government to interfere.

If you and other social media companies do not get your act in order, none of us are going to have any privacy anymore. That’s what we’re facing,” Nelson said. “We’re talking about personally identifiable information that, if not kept by the social media–media companies from theft, a value that we have in America, being our personal privacy—we won’t have it anymore.”

However, there was one significant fallacy that is either not understood or is simply being ignored by the members of Congress who addressed Zuckerberg. When individuals create Facebook accounts they know that the photos they share are not their own anymore, they know that every time they react to a status or share their thoughts on a product or service, it will be used to create targeted advertisements that will appear in their newsfeeds.

Americans have the ability to decide whether they give Facebook access to their data, or whether they have a Facebook account at all. But they do not have the ability to decide whether their data is stolen and used by the U.S. government.

While Facebook makes it clear that it is using your reactions to content to create targeted ads for your newsfeed and that it is using the photos you post of yourself to create a facial recognition profile that automatically tags your face in other photos, the government has attempted to be discreet about its data collection.

The National Security Agency initially claimed that it was only collecting data from foreign targets that it believed were suspected “terrorists.” That excuse lasted up until former NSA contractor Edward Snowden released a trove of classified documents in 2013 that showed the government was collecting data from and spying on innocent Americans.

Even after a court ruled that the NSA’s data collection and domestic spying practices were illegal in 2015, no one has been held accountable for violating the privacy of countless Americans, and the practices have only continued.

When Congress announced its first attempt to reauthorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) in late 2017, it received massive scrutiny from privacy advocates who warned that the bill would provide additional loopholes for the government to continue conducting warrantless surveillance of innocent Americans, and it would ultimately be worse for civil liberties than the previous legislation.

Then when President Trump signed the FISA Reauthorization Act into law in January, he claimed that it was “NOT the same FISA law that was so wrongly abused during the election,” and that he would “always do the right thing for our country and put the safety of the American people first.”

However, reports noted that the government is actually following a pattern of legalizing practices that they have already been carrying out, which has been ongoing for years.

With the first new law in place, the FBI no longer has to apply for a warrant “when national security is involved, or when it determines that there is a ‘threat to life or serious bodily harm,” according to a report from the Intercept. The agency will also continue to have unlimited access to data collected by the NSA, even when it does not pertain to a criminal investigation.

While users are aware of the fact that Facebook has access to their data, it is also true that the social media platform has followed in the footsteps of the U.S. government by giving itself unlimited power, and then abusing that power for financial gain.

As Snowden noted, Facebook has turned into a “surveillance company” that has successfully branded itself as “social media,” even though it makes money by “exploiting and selling intimate details about the private lives of millions, far beyond the scant details you voluntarily post.”

At the end of the day, neither Facebook officials nor U.S. government officials have any business criticizing each other when it comes to willingly abusing the privacy of Americans’ data.

Russia Prepares For Nuclear War With U.S., Instructing Citizens To Buy Water And Gas Masks

Russian state-owned television is urging the country’s residents to stock their bunkers with water and basic foodstuffs because Moscow could go to war with Washington.

Warning that the potential conflict between the two superpowers would be “catastrophic,” an anchor for Russia’s Vesti 24 showed off shelves of food, recommending that people buy salt, oatmeal and other products that can last a long time on the shelves. Powdered milk lasts five years while sugar and rice can last up to eight years, the newscaster explained before showing videos of pasta cooking in a bomb shelter.

The channel’s newscasters also displayed charts explaining how much water people need to store for drinking, washing their face and hands, and preparing food every day—and how that amount changes depending on the temperature of a person’s bomb shelter. The program also recommended that people stock up on gas masks and read guides on how to survive nuclear war.

The UK Disarmed Its Citizens, Murders Now Skyrocketing as Police Fail to Protect Defenseless Populace

ukuk

In the early 20th century, British citizens were trusted by their government to own firearms. In fact, then-Prime Minister Robert Gascoyne-Cecil, the Marquess of Salisbury once said he would “laud the day when there was a rifle in every cottage in England.” However, beginning with a law requiring a permit for handguns, Britain would embark down the slippery slope of a total citizen disarmament, and by 1996, all guns, including handguns, were banned in the UK.

In fact, so scared of its citizens having guns is the United Kingdom that in 2006, the government even banned toy guns under the guise of “reducing violence” with the Violent Crime Reduction Act. Fast forward to 2018 and — as gun rights activists have consistently warned — only criminals and the government have guns.

The result of the incremental stripping of rights has left the citizens of the United Kingdom sitting ducks merely waiting for violent criminals and a corrupt government to take hold. According to multiple new reports, this now seems to be the case.

Scotland Yard has since called an emergency meeting as London is now gripped by unprecedented violent crime. This violent crime spike comes as an ex-senior officer says “police have lost control of the streets.”

Following a massive spike in murders — one that has now passed that of New York City — police chiefs are scrambling to try and tackle knife and gun violence in the city.

“London is currently experiencing an exceptionally high level of gun and knife crime,” the invite to the emergency meeting read, according to the Guardian. “It is important that our response is fully informed by community concerns and any community tensions are rapidly identified, heard and responded to.”

According to the Guardian, among those attending the meeting were the Labour MP for Tottenham, David Lammy, and Nicola Calica-Myall, an activist against knife crime whose own son was stabbed 37 times when he was just 17 and survived.

“It’s important to know that our fears as a community are being recognized and things are in place,” Calica-Myall said, according to the Guardian. “It’s everybody’s problem and more Londoners need to recognize this situation may not go away any time soon.”

Indeed, the problem has gotten so out of hand that six teenagers were stabbed this week, in the space of only 90 minutes.

Although many of the solutions proposed with undoubtedly involve more police, the former head of head of diversity and policing, Victor Olisa, warned that police are losing control of public spaces and hit out at senior officials for their “deafening silence.”

“Communities are saying we don’t see the police around anymore,” he said. “It appears to people I have spoken to as though the police have lost control of public spaces and the streets,” the Guardian reports. “The silence from senior officers in the Met is deafening. They should say we need more information from the public, this is what we are doing, this is what the results are.”

The need for police would be drastically diminished if the citizens of London could simply defend themselves. However, that is not an option unless they use sticks or knives (under three inches): a futile choice considering the fact that criminals have illegal guns and knives at their disposal.

Even many police chiefs in the United States understand that police cannot be everywhere to stop every crime. As TFTP has reported, police chiefs across the country have urged that citizens arm themselves because a well-armed citizen is the best defense against crime — not police.
