Do Not Let the Children Lead

Where are all the grown-ups in times of crisis and grief? Don’t bother searching America’s prestigious law schools.

Two adult men, occupying lofty perches as law professors, argued this week that the voting age in the U.S. should be lowered to 16 because some high school survivors of the Parkland, Florida, shooting who want gun control “are proving how important it is to include young people’s voices in political debate.”

That was the assertion of University of Kentucky law professor Joshua Douglas on CNN.com. He praised some student leaders at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School who’ve been making the rounds on TV, shouting at President Trump, Republicans in Congress and the NRA “to demand change” — which Douglas defines obtusely as “meaningful gun control,” whatever that means.

Because these children are apparently doing a better job at broadcasting his own ineffectual political views, Douglas asserts, “we should include them more directly in our democratic process” by enfranchising them now.

Harvard law professor Laurence Tribe similarly tweeted, “Teens between 14 and 18 have far better BS detectors, on average, than ‘adults’ 18 and older.” On what basis does distinguished Professor Tribe make such a claim? On a foundation of pure, steaming BS.

Undaunted, gun control advocate Tribe urged: “Wouldn’t it be great if the voting age were lowered to 16? Just a pipe dream, I know, but . . . #Children’sCrusade?”

This is unadulterated silliness. It’s hashtag hokum from a pair of pandering left-wing profs exploiting a new round of Democratic youth props. I have called this rhetorical fallacy “argumentum ad filium:” If politicians appeal to the children, it’s unassailably good and true.

This is not compassion, but abdication. America is not a juvenilocracy. It is a constitutional republic. There is a reason we don’t elect high school sophomores and juniors to public office or allow them to cast ballots. There are many, many reasons, actually.

Pubescents are fueled by hormones and dopamine and pizza and Sonic shakes. They’re fickle and fragile and fierce and forgetful. They hate you. They love you. They need you. They ignore you. They know everything. They know nothing. All in the span of 10 seconds. I know. I have two of them.

If you’re lucky, they’ve only Googled “Should I eat Tide pods?” or “What happens if I snort Ramen powder?” and not actually attempted the latest social media stunt challenges.

But that’s what kids do. Because they’re kids.

Many may be exceptionally smart, passionate and articulate beyond their years, but they do not possess any semblance of wisdom because they have not lived those years. Their knowledge of history, law and public policy is severely limited (Common Core certainly hasn’t helped). And their moral agency and cognitive abilities are far from fully developed.

Most are in no position to change the world when they can’t even remember to change their own bedsheets.

Yet, Tribe relishes the opportunity to hide behind the young Parkland activists headed to CNN’s propaganda town halls and Washington, D.C.: “NRA will meet more than its match in these amazing kids,” he gleefully cheered. “(I)t’ll meet its master and will be brought to heel. At long last.”

President Obama employed this very same kiddie human shield strategy to ram his federal health care takeover through Capitol Hill and down our throats. Immigration and education lobbyists use it, too. Their cynicism is unbounded. Human prop-a-palooza infantilizes public discourse and renders measured, mature dissent impossible. Those who question the logic, efficacy and wisdom of the latest left-wing “children’s crusade” face accusations of “hating” the children. Refusing to acquiesce to their tears and protests is tantamount to letting them die.

Showing resilience and resolve in the face of horrific adversity deserves the highest praise and attention. Juvenile victim status, however, does not warrant absolute moral authority or the unfettered powers in the political arena that ideologically stunted law professors are so eager to bestow upon them.

It’s fine to listen, but do not let the children lead.

Only Armed Personnel In Every School Can Protect Our Children

Gun free zones is where students go to die.


I did my student teaching at Columbine High School in Littleton, CO. Do you think I am sensitive to the topic of school shootings? Once upon a time, I was very proficient in martial arts and various forms of self-defense and I have taught classes to individuals and groups. Individuals like myself and Bob Griswold and myself have a degree of situational awareness that most in our society do not have. Anyone with any degree of training in self-defense will tell you, that our present level of self-defense practiced in our schools is criminally negligent.

Do not blame the teachers, the administrators or even the school boards. They are overwhelmed by mindlessfederal and state government liberal bureaucrats that believe that the designation “gun-free-zones” somehow makes our students safer. What a joke! Such a declaration is a message of “open season” on defenseless students and teachers.

The liberal morons who run much of our society don’t even give a second thought to protecting the targets of a would-be-mass-murderer. Their only response is to seize the guns  which is an exercise in futility. There are over 300 million guns in America. No amount of registration and even gun confiscation can even make a dent. Why? Because they FBI tells us that 90% of the gun used in a crime are stolen, that’s why! Ron Paul put out a statement where decries the illogic of such a move.

We have George Soros inspired and funded young people who just magically organized themselves into organized protest rallies promoting gun confiscation, like a teenager would know the first thing about organizing such a movement. This is the definition of an orchestrated event.

There is an objective, from the liberal left, on why they want all the guns and they are willing to exploit school shootings to achieve their objective, but that is another topic for another day. For the purposes of this article, I want to call attention to the fact that we virtually doing nothing to protect the lives of the 50 million people who enter our public schools everyday. We have armed guards and searches of people entering sporting events, concerts and to board a plane, but somehow, we don’t care enough about our children to protect them.

Across America, it is pretty much the same when it comes to student defense during an active shooter event. There is virutally no defense against a live shooter. The only official strategy is for the teacher to lock one’s classroom, turn out the lights and get on the floor. The strategy seems to presume that the classroom door and the surrounding walls are bullet-proof. They most certainly are not.

When a classroom contains students and their teacher, and the gunman shoots his way into a locked room, the massacre begins and it is like shooting fish in a barrel. These people are virtually defenseless. Wait! There are some high-risk strategies that could be taught to unarmed civilians caught in a confined space with an anticpated gunman entering their space. These stratgies are usually going to fail, however, at least it gives the would-be-victims somewhat of a fighting chance. Many school shootings are carried by assailants with an assault rifle and there is a moment when one enters a classroom with the assault rifle that they are vulnerable to being disarmed. If one were to position themselves adjacent to a door as the shooter enters the room, there is a time when a trained person could get inside the pivot range of the shooter and his weapon as they enter a doorway. The goal is get between the rifle and the shooters body and force the assailant to drop the weapon, where presumably a second, third and fourth person would be able to assist in getting the gun away from the would-be-mass-murderer. If the assailants gun is secure, the perpetrator must be instantly killed. Why? Because they could have a holstered weapon elsewhere on their body. How do I know this? In my martial arts training, conducted by an ex-special forces operative, we trained varous civic and private groups on self-defense methods. This is not a good fall-back strategy, however, it is better than the “lie-down and die” concealment strategy that we have in place, now. in our public schools.

The other strategy that should be employed in an active shooting event, is to run like hell away from the direction of the shots. If intended victims in venues, like the 2015 Paris theater and any public school could be taught this strategy, statistically speaking, lives would be saved because it is harder to shoot a moving target in the open, moving in a zig-zag pattern, than it is to murder a classroom full of students in a confined space with no escape. Our school safety policies are so flawed, we don’t even teach basic survival skills. In effect, schools rely on the statistical rarity that there school will not be victimized. I can accurately say that school defense has been reduced to a strategy of random chance and statistical unlikelihood.


In summary, our schools do not teach basic self-defense and rehearse the strategy. Our schools do not teach escape strategies and rehearse them. The students are taught to lie down and wait for the inevitable.


As previously stated, the present strategy is based upon concealment and is practiced, across the nation, by virtually every public school. In many states, the practice of this strategy is mandated by statute and the use of a n0-response strategy is required by law.

We have signs in many schools that state “This is a gun-free zone”. The sign may as well say “Come kill our students because they have no way to defend themselves”.

In reality, there is no solution for school shootings. Approximately 25% of the schools in the country have a school resource officer who is armed and trained. This is an important obstacle to a would-be killer. However, what about the other schools, don’t their students deserve some measure of protection? I had someone tell me that the school monitors are a resource against danger. What an absolute joke. In an active shooter event, a school monitor does not even constitute a speed bump to a live shooter.

The only thing that can give our children a fighting chance is to have multiple armed guards in every school. If the school budget is an issue, then volunteer school personnel and be trained in CCW. The liberals, who would sacrifice your children in the name of gun confiscation, have stopped reading at this point. But in the preesnt moment, we don’t even bring the proverbial butter knife to a gun fight. I will not be silent until I begin reading headlines like the following:

If liberals want to sacrifice their children in the name of their political agenda, that is their right. However, I will not rest until we move to protect our most vulnerable population with decisive action. This needs to become a mid-term election issue. And of course America, an institution that practices depraved indifference towards its client base will soon go out of business. Schools should be no different. If our leaders will not move to protect our children, then the rest of us should home school our children. Have you ever heard of a homeschool shooting?

One final thought, why don’t other countries have school shootings? Why is this just an American phenomenon? Banks get robbed, drug deals go bad and people get held up in other countries, but why aren’t their students murdered as they are attending school? Can someone please answer that question?

New blood test can detect autism in children

Scientists have developed a blood and urine test that can detect autism in children.

Researchers at the University of Warwick said the test, believed to be the first of its kind, could lead to earlier diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in children who could then be given appropriate treatment much earlier in their lives.

ASDs mainly affect a person’s social interaction and communication, with symptoms that can include speech disturbances, repetitive and/or compulsive behaviour, hyperactivity, anxiety, and difficulty adapting to new environments.

As there is a wide range of ASD symptoms, diagnosis can be difficult and uncertain, particularly at the early stages of development.

It is estimated that around one in every 100 people in the UK has ASD, with more boys diagnosed with the condition than girls.

Scientists said their research found a link between ASD and damage to proteins in blood plasma.

They found the most reliable of the tests they developed was examining protein in blood plasma, which found children with ASD had higher levels of the oxidation marker dityrosine (DT) and certain sugar-modified compounds called advanced glycation end products (AGEs).

Genetic causes are thought to be responsible for around a third of cases of ASD, while the rest are believed to be caused by a combination of environmental factors, mutations, and rare genetic variants.

But researchers believe their new tests could reveal yet to be identified causes of ASD.

They also confirmed the previously held belief that mutations of amino acid transporters are a genetic variant associated with ASD.

The Warwick team worked with collaborators at the University of Bologna in Italy, who recruited 38 children who were diagnosed with ASD along with a control group of 31 other children between the ages of five and 12. Blood and urine samples were taken from the children for analysis.

The team discovered there were chemical differences between the two groups. Working with a further collaborator at the University of Birmingham, the changes in multiple compounds were combined together using artificial intelligence algorithm techniques to develop a mathematical equation to distinguish between ASD and healthy controls. The outcome was a diagnostic test better than any method currently available.

They said the next steps are to repeat the study with further groups of children to confirm the good diagnostic performance and to assess if the test can identify ASD at very early stages, indicate how the ASD is likely to develop further to more severe disease and assess if treatments are working.

The research was led by Dr Naila Rabbani, reader of experimental systems biology at the University of Warwick, who said: “Our discovery could lead to earlier diagnosis and intervention.

“We hope the tests will also reveal new causative factors.

“With further testing we may reveal specific plasma and urinary profiles or ‘fingerprints’ of compounds with damaging modifications. This may help us improve the diagnosis of ASD and point the way to new causes of ASD.”

The research has been published in the journal Molecular Autism

UK Government & Catholic Church Claim Children Can “Consent” To Sexual Abuse

Catholic churches all around the world have been accused of sex scandals, including the Vatican, which has allegedly paid an astonishing $4 billion since 1950 to settle sexual abuse claims. Far too often these stories involve priests taking advantage of their positions of authority in order to sexually abuse people, often children.

More recently, the UK government and the Catholic church have come under public scrutiny for claiming that victims of child sexual abuse “consented” to their rapes in order to avoid compensating the victims. The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) establishes which victims get compensated, and they do so by determining whether or not the victim gave consent, even if the victim is a child well under the legal age limit.

The Telegraph reported last month that, according to CICA, “A victim can consent in fact even though in law they may be deemed not to have consented.” That’s right, this government loophole can be used to claim that even though a child may be under the legal age limit, they can still provide consent.

Legal Loophole Preventing Child Sex Victims From Being Compensated

To give you a better picture of how this works, one case that was explained by the charity Victim Support involved a 12-year-old girl who was led into the woods and sexually assaulted by a 21-year-old man while she was intoxicated.

Interestingly enough, despite the fact that the man pled guilty to having sex with a minor, she still wasn’t compensated because she allegedly “gave consent” by “voluntarily” going into the woods with him.

“No child ever gives their ‘consent’ to being abused, and the increased use of this line of defence, although still quite rare, is worrying,” said Anne Longfield, the Children’s Commissioner for England. “I have contacted the Ministry of Justice previously and again recently about this issue and the Government should look urgently at what can be done to tackle it.”

They also argued that she was able to give consent because she had recently had sex with someone her own age. That’s like saying, “If you consent to someone your own age, you consent to everyone. If you’ve consented in the past, you consent to everyone.” That is not an ethical argument, and we should not be teaching children that this irrational logic is okay.

A Freedom of Information Act request introduced by Victim Support indicated that since this loophole came into fruition in 2012, a total of 693 cases in which child sexual abuse victims came forward were denied compensation by the CICA. Though many of these cases involved children who were 16, some of the victims were much younger.

So, Where Does the Catholic Church Fit Into This?

As it turns out, this loophole most often benefits private schools, religious groups, and the local authorities. For example, lawyers for the Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark explained to one of the sexual abuse victims that his rape “actually occurred in the context of a consensual relationship (albeit one the Claimant in retrospect now appears to regret).”

Although this particular case was actually settled to the tune of £80,000, the victim stated that the defence was both insulting and highlighted the fact that he was below the legal age of consent. There’s a legal age limit for a reason, and it’s strange that this law is being bent through the use of another law.

Dino Nocivelli, a specialist child abuse solicitor at Bolt Burdon, explained on Kent Live: “It is time for the church to practise what they preach and to admit their failings, to take account of the damage this has caused to the lives of far too many children and lastly to apologise for the abuse.”

An important question we need to start asking ourselves and the government is: Why are people in authority positions let off the hook for violent crimes? Sexual abuse and rape are not crimes that should go ignored, yet time and time again, higher-ups and government officials are excused from the law.

To name a few examples, we have the Jeffrey Epstein case, in which he was accused of recruiting and forcing dozens of children into an underground network of sex slaves, who served many of the elite members of society, including former American President Bill Clinton.

Epstein owned a private jet, referred to as the “Lolita Express” by mainstream media (MSM), which was used to transport Epstein and his elitist friends to Little St. James, Epstein’s private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands — dubbed “Orgy Island” by the tabloids. Despite all of these allegations and proven facts, he only served approximately one year in jail time.

Former U.S. representative Cynthia McKinney also knew about the government’s relationship to human trafficking, and she actually addressed it in 2005. She grilled Donald Rumsfeld on military contractor DynCorp’s child trafficking business of selling women and children.

Ted Gunderson, former FBI special agent and head of their L.A. office, worked to uncover years’ worth of information on high-level pedophilia, sexual abuse, and satanic rituals performed by the government and the elite (or the cabal). Although these examples are outside of the UK, they still speak to how the government provides special treatment when it comes to crimes committed by those in higher social classes.

Final Thoughts

Time and time again, the government allows perpetrators of sexual violence to go unpunished. If we’re not willing to face these issues, regardless of who the perpetrator is, then how will we fix this clear issue within society? Sexual violence is never okay, and we should not be blaming the victims for crimes they were not responsible for.

We need to start treating everyone as equal and extend more compassion to others; only then will we be able to not only improve our judiciary system, but hopefully prevent these crimes from occurring in the first place.

The Special Ed Epidemic: What Is Happening To Our Children? Part 1 of 4

WMP Note: In this 4-part series, World Mercury Project partner, Focus For Health,  examines the special needs epidemic and its effects on schools, the US economy, life after age 21 and the many theories that point to potential causes of the explosion of chronic disease and disability in our children.

Pick up a paper anywhere in the world and you are more than likely to see a story about the special needs epidemic affecting public schools.

Recent headlines read “Wolf Creek Public Schools hires additional staff to work with severely disabled students” and “York school system nearly $1M over budget in special education spending,” and “7 EV teen suicides in 6 weeks alarm schools,” and, “How Vermont schools manage food allergies.”

If you take the time to read some of these disturbing articles, you will see quotes from school directors making comments like “What’s different from past years is the students we’ve received really do have severe, very particular learning needs that are well beyond what we would typically see. It caught us by surprise, for sure,” admits Jayson Lovell, Superintendent for Wolf Creek Public Schools. This school district is one example of districts needing to hire additional staff in order to accommodate a sharp rise in the number of students requiring services through IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Act) due to their severely complex special education needs.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports disabilities affect 1 in 7 children. From the increased number of children requiring special education and related services to the increased number of health care professionals needed to care for children with chronic physical and mental health issues in the schools, school budgets are depleting rapidly. Fast-forward, when these children are adults, the workforce is affected, as is the housing industry. Every child with or without special needs is affected, just as every tax payer, with or without a child with special needs, will bear the burden.

According to The National Center for Educational Statistics, the percentage of youth ages 3-21 served by IDEA, a federal mandate which provides a free and appropriate education has risen significantly since 1990. Data from school years 1990/91 through 2004/05 showed 4.7 million, or 11 percent, of the total public school enrollment required special education services. By 2014/15, children and youth served under IDEA had risen to 6.6 million, or 13 percent, of the total public school enrollment. And it isn’t only a rise in special education demands; sadly, there is great demand for nurses and even health clinics on school property to manage the dramatic increase in children with chronic health conditions and mental health disorders as well.

Over the past 2 decades, the number of children with chronic health conditions doubled from 12.8 percent in 1994 to 26.6 percent in 2006.

With limited resources, public schools are dealing with an epidemic of children with various special needs including behavioral, learning, physical, and mental health disorders, as well as chronic health issues like severe food allergies, asthma, diabetes, autism, ADHD, seizures, and more. We read about it in our headlines, so why aren’t we asking, “What is happening to our children?”

Mental Illness

As referenced in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, published by the CDC in 2013, mental health disorders among children are described as “serious deviations from expected cognitive, social, and emotional development.”

According to this report, a total of 13–20% of children (<18 yrs. of age) living in the United States experiences a mental disorder in a given year. Among children aged 3-17 years, these disorders include:

Attention-deficit disorder = 6.8%
Behavior and Conduct Disorder = 3.5%
Anxiety = 3.0%
Depression = 2.1%
Autism Spectrum Disorder = 1.1%
Tourette ’s syndrome = 0.2% (amongst children 6-17 yrs. of age)

  • As many as 1 in every 33 children may be depressed. Depression in adolescents may be as high as 1 in 8.
  • In 2010, suicide was the second leading cause of death for individuals aged 12-17 yrs. The suicide rate for this age group was 4.5 suicides per 100,000.
  • It is estimated that 4.7% of adolescents aged 12–17 years reported an illicit drug use disorder in the past year and 4.2% had an alcohol abuse disorder in the past year.
  • Of the 100,000 teenagers in juvenile detention, an estimated 60% have behavioral, cognitive, or emotional problems.
  • Less than 1/3 of the children under age 18 who have a serious mental health problemreceive any mental health services.
  • Mental health disorders are said to be the most costly disorders to treat in children because of the impact on the child, family, and community, costing the US an estimated $247 billion dollars annually for health care, special education, juvenile justice and decreased productivity.

Mental health disorders in children can result in difficulties in school, at home, and with peer relationships. Studies show 40% children with mental health disorders also have a second mental health diagnosis and are also more likely to develop chronic health disorders including asthmadiabetes and epilepsy. They also have a greater risk for mental health disorders as adults which negatively affects productivity, increases substance abuse, and ultimately becomes a financial burden to the individual and society.

Autism

  • The CDC reports autism rates of 1 in 68 American children, up 30% from the 1 in 88rate reported in 2008, and more than double the 1 in 150 rate in 2000.
  • Autism affects 4-5 times as many boys than girls.
  • Compared to the general pediatric population, children with autism have higher rates of co-occurring psychiatric and medical illnesses including GI disorders, epilepsy, dyslipidemia, vision and hearing impairments, hypertension, autoimmune conditions, asthma, allergies, and others, extending across all age groups.
  • Economic costs for 2015 were at an estimated $268 billion in the United States.
  • A study published in 2015 in The Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders projects economic costs rising to $461 billion in 2025 if autism’s prevalence continues at today’s rates. Projected costs could exceed $1 trillion by 2025 if prevalence continues to rise at the same rate it has this past decade.
  • Direct costs include medical care, hospitalizations, special education, special therapies (occupational, speech and physical therapy), and paid caregivers. Indirect costs include lost productivity for family caregivers due to the inability to maintain employment while caring for affected individuals as well as lost wages and benefits.

ADHD

  • The National health Interview Survey (NHIS) 2011-2013 reported 9.5% of children ages 4-17 had been diagnosed with ADHD.
  • This study also reported the rate of ADHD in children aged 5–17 years increased significantly from 7.0% to 10.2% between 1997–1999 to 2012–2014.
  • Boys (13.3%) continue to be more than twice as likely as girls (5.6%) to have current ADHD.
  • According to a more recent population-based study using DSM-IV criteria, 15.5% of school children enrolled in Grades 1 to 5 have ADHD.
  • The economic cost of ADHD is reported to range between $143 billion to $266 billion in the US (adjusted to 2010 U.S. dollars) every year.
  • Of the total annual cost of ADHD, 26–27% was incurred by children ($38 billion–$72 billion).
  • Direct costs are inclusive of special education, special therapies (occupational, speech and physical therapy), school counseling, and disciplinary incidents. Other costs related to health care include primary care and specialty care visits, medications, emergency room visits, behavioral and emotional health care.

Food Allergies

  • Food allergies have been skyrocketing in the United States in the last fifteen years. According to the CDC, food allergies increased 50% between 1997 and 2011.
  • Researchers estimate that up to 15 million Americans have food allergies, including 5.9 million children under age 18. That’s 1 in 13 children, or roughly two in every classroom.
  • The CDC reported a 265% increase in the rates of hospitalizations related to food allergic reactions in a ten year period.
  • Between 1997 and 2008, the prevalence of peanut or tree nut allergy appears to have more than tripled in U.S. children.
  • The New York Times reports record sales growth for EpiPens, a life-saving medical device for those with food allergies.
  • Nearly 40% of children with food allergies have experienced a severe allergic reaction such as anaphylaxis.

What ancient footprints may tell us the life of children in prehistoric times

Western society has a rather specific view of what a good childhood should be like; protecting, sheltering and legislating to ensure compliance with it. However, perceptions of childhood vary greatly with geography, culture and time. What was it like to be a child in prehistoric times, for example – in the absence of toys, tablets and television?

In our new paper, published in Scientific Reports, we outline the discovery of children’s footprints in Ethiopia which show how children spent their time 700,000 years ago.

We first came across the question of what footprints can tell us about past childhood experiences a few years back while studying some astonishingly beautiful children’s footprints in Namibia, just south of Walvis Bay. In archaeological terms the tracks were young, dating only from around 1,500 years ago. They were made by a small group of children walking across a drying mud surface after a flock of sheep or goats. Some of these tracks were made by children as young as three-years-old in the company of slightly older children and perhaps young adolescents.

The detail in these tracks, preserved beneath the shifting sands of the Namibian Sand Sea, is amazing, and the pattern of footfall – with the occasional skip, hop and jump – shows they were being playful. The site also showed that children were trusted with the family flock of animals from an early age and, one assumes, they learnt from that experience how to function as adults were expected to within that culture.

No helicopter parents

But what about the childhood of our earlier ancestors – those that came before anatomically modern humans (Homo sapiens)? Children’s tracks by Homo antecessor (1.2m to 800,000 years ago) were found at Happisburgh in East Anglia, a site dating to a million years ago. Sadly though, these tracks leave no insight into what these children were doing.

But the footprints described in our recent study – from a remarkable site in the Upper Awash Valley of Southern Ethiopia that was excavated by researchers from the Università di Roma “La Sapienza” – reveal a bit more. The children’s tracks were probably made by the extinct species Homo heidelbergensis(600,000 to 200,000 years ago), occurring next to adult prints and an abundance of animal tracks congregated around a small, muddy pool. Stone tools and the butchered remains of a hippo were also found at the site, called Melka Kunture.

This assemblage of tracks is capped by an ash flow from a nearby volcano which has been dated to 700,000 years ago. The ash flow was deposited shortly after the tracks were left, although we don’t know precisely how soon after. The tracks are not as anatomically distinct as those from Namibia but they are smaller and may have been made by children as young as one or two, standing in the mud while their parents and older siblings got on with their activities. This included knapping the stone tools with which they butchered the carcass of the hippo.

The findings create a unique and momentary insight into the world of a child long ago. They clearly were not left at home with a babysitter when the parents were hunting. In the harsh savannah plains of the East African Rift Valley, it was natural to bring your children to such daily tasks, perhaps so they could observe and learn.

This is not surprising, when one considers the wealth of ethnographic evidence from modern, culturally distinct human societies. Babies and children are most often seen as the lowliest members of their social and family groups. They are often expected to contribute to activities that support the mother, and the wider family group, according to their abilities. In many societies, small boys tend to help with herding, while young girls are preferred as babysitters. Interestingly, adult tools – like axes, knives, machetes, even guns – are often freely available to children as a way of learning.

So, if we picture the scene at Melka Kunture, the children observing the butchery were probably allowed to handle stone tools and practice their skills on discarded pieces of carcass while staying out of the way of the fully-occupied adults. This was their school room, and the curriculum was the acquisition of survival skills. There was little time or space to simply be a child, in the sense that we would recognise today.

This was likely the case for a very long time. The Monte Hermoso Human Footprint Site in Argentina (roughly 7,000-years-old) contains predominantly small tracks (of children and women) preserved in coastal sediments and it has been suggested that the children may have played an important role in gathering seafood or coastal resources. Similarly, most of the tracks in the Tuc d’Audoubert Cave in France (15,000-years-old) are those of children and the art there is striking. Perhaps they were present when it was carved and painted?

However, these observations contrasts to the story that emerged last year based on tracks from the older Homo Homo erectus (1.5m-year-old) at Ileret, located further south in the Rift Valley, just within the northern border of Kenya. Here the tracks have been interpreted as the product of adult hunting groups moving along a lake shore, rather than a domestic scene such as that at Melka Kunture. However, these scenes aren’t mutually exclusive and both show the power of footprints to provide a snapshot into past hominin behaviour.

But it does seem like the overwhelming parenting lesson from the distant past is that children had more responsibilities, less adult supervision and certainly no indulgence from their parents. It is a picture of a childhood very different from our own, at least from the privileged perspective of life in Western society.

Massachusetts Mother kills her own children for Voodoo Ritual, Police say



 


A Massachusetts woman used a kitchen knife to stab two of her children to death and later told police it was part of a Voodoo ritual, authorities said Tuesday.

Latarsha Sanders, 43, told police she attacked her 8-year-old son, Edson “Marlon” Brito, with a kitchen knife as part of a ritual but failed, so she attacked her 5-year-old son, Lason Brito, assistant Plymouth District Attorney Jessica Kenny told a judge during Sanders’ arraignment on murder charges.

She told police it had to do with “Voodoo stuff,” according to a police report of their interview with her.

The older boy was stabbed 50 times, and she admitted to the killings, Kenny said.

“She said she had stabbed him because she had ‘failed’ in the ritual with Marlon,” Kenny said, according to The Boston Herald . “She responded to police that she felt bad about what she had done.”

Sanders also told investigators she mopped up blood from the floor, left the kitchen knife in the sink, cleaned up both boys and placed them in separate beds, Kenny said.

Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz told reporters that Sanders’ interview with police was “disjointed” but said investigators are not aware of Sanders having a history of mental illness.

“We don’t have a lot of clarity to a lot of the things she was saying at this point,” Cruz said.

The boys’ bodies were discovered in their Brockton apartment on Monday after Sanders asked a neighbor to call 911 because she was having a medical issue. When authorities arrived, the neighbor told police that there were children in the apartment, so they checked and discovered them. The boys were last seen by their grandmother on Saturday, prosecutors said.

Sanders pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail, with her next court appearance scheduled for April 9. Her lawyer, Joseph Krowski Jr., said he had just begun representing her Tuesday morning and didn’t comment on the specific accusations.

The killings come a week after two sisters in the neighboring community of East Bridgewater were charged with tying down, burning and permanently disfiguring a 5-year-old girl, and threatening to cut off the head of her 8-year-old brother, in a Voodoo ritual.

Voodoo refers to religious practices developed centuries ago by enslaved Africans in the Caribbean, primarily in Haiti, where the practices are sometimes spelled “vodou.”

Vaccine industry in PANIC MODE as *vaccinated* children keep dying from the flu all across America

(Natural News) Children are dying from the flu all across America, according to media reports. What the media isn’t reporting, however, is how many of the children who died were also vaccine recipients. Make no mistake: If only unvaccinated children were dying from the flu, that would be the headline everywhere: “Unvaccinated Children Dying Across America” or even “Flu Shot Saves Children from Deadly Influenza.” But of course you’re not seeing those headlines for the simple reason that vaccinated children are among those who are being killed by this year’s flu.

“The dominant Influenza strain this year is H3N2. This particular strain has a history of causing more hospitalizations and more deaths,” reports The Organic Prepper. “In addition to H3N2 producing a more serious infection in general, this year’s particular H3N2 influenza virus is particularly virulent.”

This year’s flu has reportedly killed 44,116 people, according to the CDC. The number of children so far killed by this year’s flu is 37, say CDC statistics. The flu vaccine, widely touted by the clueless media as being some sort of magical “bulletproof vest” against influenza infections, is approaching zero effectiveness.

Not only does this influenza strain produce a more intense and deadly flu, the flu vaccine is less effective against it. This Centers for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) article discusses a study published in The Lancet spanning 11 years that demonstrates H3N2 is more resistant to the flu vaccine. … the flu vaccine demonstrates only a 33% vaccine effective (VE) rate with the average H3N2 strain… To make matters worse, this year’s flu vaccine isn’t even close to the average 33% VE rate of prior years. This year’s vaccine is performing at approximately a 10% VE rate.

So wait, what?

You mean to tell me the CDC already knows that this year’s vaccine is only 10% effectiveat protecting children from the influenza strains circulating in the wild? According to CBS News:

This year’s flu vaccine may only be 10% effective, experts warn… It is the same formulation that was used during Australia’s most recent flu season — which typically sets a pattern for what the U.S. will face — and it was only 10 percent effective there.

How many children who died from this year’s flu were vaccinated with the “10% effective” flu shot?

Note that the vaccine-pushing media isn’t reporting headlines such as, “Child who died from the flu was vaccinated with the flu shot.” No, that would be heresy to the vaccine dogmatists and propagandists who desperately push the false science that claims flu shots always work.

Even when flu shots don’t work, these propagandists still claim they sorta, kinda, almost work. CBS News dutifully demonstrates this pseudoscience delusion by restating the fictitious mantra of the flu propagandists: “Experts say that if you do get the flu, it will likely be less severe if you have gotten a flu shot.”

There is no evidence whatsoever to support such a claim, of course, but that doesn’t stop the media from repeating it — almost verbatim — in every news story that covers the repeated failures of the flu vaccine itself.

There is evidence, however, that mercury-laced flu shots are killing infants. A 4,250% increase in fetal deaths was documented following the mercury-laced flu vaccination sweep of 2009 – 2010. Furthermore, Natural News has irrefutably proven that flu shots still contain mercury, even though the vaccine industry deliberately lies and claims mercury has been removed from all vaccines given to children. That’s a deliberate lie.

Not only is it unbelievably sad that American children keep dying from a preventableinfection, but it’s downright criminal that the medical establishment and legacy media both refuse to tell parents how to save the lives of their children through low-cost nutrition.

Vaccine magic explained: Even when it’s the wrong strain, it still kinda works by “vaccine magic”

Their logic, if you can even call it that, demands that you believe in vaccine magic, which requires that you abandon all scientific thinking about immunological responses and antibodies. According to vaccine science, your body is subjected to a weakened virus with a very specific RNA protein pattern. Your body then builds a defensive “blueprint” based precisely on this protein pattern. You then generate “antibodies” which protect you from that protein pattern. These antibodies are pattern-specific, not universal, which is why immunity to smallpox, for example, doesn’t automatically grant you immunity to Ebola.

But wait! According to vaccine magic, even when they injected you with the wrong protein patterns (attenuated viruses) and your body builds the wrong antibodies, the vaccine propagandists magically claim that it all somehow works anyway. Vaccine science be damned. All vaccines are awesome merely because the vaccine industry says so, regardless of medical reality. The entire “protein pattern” explanation behind vaccine science is conveniently abandoned with the vaccine itself fails to contain the proper viral strain.

This is the same lunatic logic the cancer industry uses to push chemotherapy for non-cancer patients as a “preventative” measure. Yes, people that are not diagnosed with cancer are routinely pushed to accept chemotherapy treatments by profit-driven oncology centers. There’s money to be made from chemotherapy, after all, so they flat-out lie to their patients and say chemotherapy “prevents cancer,” even when the horrible truth is that chemotherapy causes cancer. So even if you didn’t have cancer before you got the treatment, you’re very likely to develop cancer after receiving it. How’s that for a medical business model?

The binary vaccine trap: Nutrition is never mentioned as a safe, effective way to beat the flu

The scientifically illiterate media, by the way, is run by nutritionally deficient “journalists” who are routinely lobotomized with mercury in flu shots. No wonder they don’t have the mental capacity to recommend the real solution to influenza infections: Nutrition and stress reduction.

Vaccine propaganda is a “binary trap,” in other words: Every debate is about pro-vaccine vs. anti-vaccine. This “Overton Window” limits debate to the vaccine alone, avoiding any real discussion of far safer and more effective options that don’t involve vaccines. Vitamins C and D, for example, are extremely effective at helping individuals mount an immune response that rapidly overcomes influenza infections.

Zinc, too, has been scientifically shown to limit the duration and severity of influenza infections. In fact, if you ask around, you’ll probably find that people who take nutritional supplements instead of vaccines are extremely resistant to influenza. (For myself, I haven’t had a vaccine shot in decades, yet I can’t even remember the last time I had a cold or the flu.) Yet the very people who seem to get sick with the flu every year are the same ones who routinely get flu shots.

How can that be? The answer, shockingly, is that flu shots have been scientifically proven to weaken your immune response in subsequent years.

Flu vaccines scientifically proven to make you MORE vulnerable to the flu

As reported by Vaccines.news:

A medical study conducted at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center found that women who received flu vaccines had a weakened immune system response in subsequent years.

Lisa Christian, PhD, the lead researcher on the study, concluded, “Growing evidence shows that those who received a flu shot in the prior year have lower antibody responses in the current year.”

The study proves yet again that the official narrative of the flu shot industry — and its complicit corporate-run media — is false and deliberately deceptive. Far from offering bulletproof protection, flu shots actually make people more vulnerable to influenza infections, which of course contributes to more people catching the flu and then falsely thinking they need more flu shots for “more protection.”

Meanwhile, the people who aren’t being killed by the flu are those who turn to nutrition and immune enhancement to protect themselves.

10 ways to save your life and avoid the flu

  1. Avoid the flu shot. It doesn’t work and weakens your immune response in subsequent years, according to the latest science. (See Vaccines.news)
  2. Wash your hands, especially after interacting with other people who might carry influenza.
  3. Avoid chronic stress. This also weakens your immune system.
  4. Get plenty of sleep. Your body’s immune system rejuvenates itself while you sleep.
  5. Avoid highly strenuous exercise. Pushing your exercise too far can make you vulnerable to infections until you recover from the exercise stress.
  6. Boost your intake of vitamin D and vitamin C. Vitamin D is fat soluble and goes best with dietary fat sources. Consider 4000 IU – 10,000 IU per day during the flu season, but check with your holistic health practitioner to be certain what’s right for you. Vitamin C is water soluble and can be consumed in surprisingly large amounts of up to 25,000 mg per day, to the tolerance of your gut. (If you overdose, you’ll have loose stools.) Look for non-GMO vitamin C if you can find it.
  7. Make sure you’re getting plenty of zinc, a trace mineral that helps block influenza viruses from invading your body.

Neuropsychiatrist Discovers Telepathic Abilities In Autistic Children & Films It On Camera

What we label as autism covers a vast spectrum. One autistic child may be able to communicate perfectly and perform normal daily life tasks, while others can barely move, and still others can’t communicate at all. You also have children under this label known as autistic “savants” who show extraordinary abilities.  This is why it’s more commonly referred to as autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Some savants are able to perform extreme mathematical calculations in their head, similar to a calculator or computer, and others have remarkable artistic ability spanning across a variety of subjects. The list of abilities seen in savants is long, and one ability that could one day be added to that list is telepathy.

Unfortunately, it’s commonly believed that the autistic children who lack movement and communication are ‘not there.’ Yet some evidence suggests they are not only aware, but have greater mental abilities than the average person. The communication barrier may be preventing them from sharing that with us, but perhaps we’ve been missing something?

Although often ridiculed, many scientists have been studying and publishing papers on human telepathy for decades, making some unbelievable observations with statistically significant results. In fact, in 1999 a statistics professor at UC Irvine published a paper showing that parapsychological experiments have produced much stronger results than those showing a daily dose of aspirin helps prevent a heart attack.

Telepathy is one ability included in the parapsychology group. Others include remote viewing, near death experiences (NDEs), and out of body experiences (OBEs).

Evidence For Telepathy Among Some Nonverbal Autistic Children 

Diane Powell, M.D, is an author, public speaker, researcher, and practicing neuropsychiatrist. Her education is extensive, and she’s worked with some of the best minds of the century, including several Nobel laureates. She studied biophysics and neuroscience during her undergraduate years,  has worked in neurochemistry, and attended John Hopkins School of Medicine. She co-published research on the genetics of Alzheimer’s Disease with Marshal Folstein and did neuroscience research in Joseph Coyle’s laboratory. After receiving her medical degree in 1983, she stayed at Johns Hopkins to complete postdoctoral training in medicine, neurology, and psychiatry. In July 1987, Dr. Powell joined the faculty at Harvard Medical School, where she taught neuropsychiatry and gained experience in cross-cultural psychiatry and mind-body medicine. She moved in July 1989 to engage in molecular biology research at the University of California at San Diego during the Human Genome Project.

She has always been interested in human consciousness, particularly in the special abilities these gifted children have and how they are helping to grow our understanding about the mysteries of consciousness.

In January 1987 she trained for six months at The Institute of Psychiatry in London, England with Sir Michael Rutter, who was knighted for his work on autism.

This is a short summary of an impressive and lengthy CV, but it’s important to show that the list of  credible researchers in this field long and growing. “Extended human capacities,” as the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) defines them, and parapsychology, are serious subjects.

Dr. Powell’s work with non-verbal autistic children has shown strong evidence for telepathic abilities. The video below is one example of a test she conducted with multiple nonverbal autistic children. This particular child achieved a 100 percent hit rate, and in total average, the children achieved a group hit rate of 90 percent.

Powell explains in the video that she wants to further study these children: “I want to go back and I want to film Haley under ideal scientific conditions. There are also several other children across the globe who demonstrate a similar phenomenon. I want  to go and document them as well.”

Deepak Chopra was also present and witnessed what was going on here, as mentioned in this interview Chopra and Powell did together.

More Evidence of Telepathy

In the mid 1960s, Montague Ullman, MD, began a number of experiments at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York to test the hypothesis that people could be primed to dream about randomly selected material. In other words, they could choose what they wanted to dream about before going to sleep, and this could include anything, from artwork to movies to photographs and more. Shortly after these experiments began, Ullman was joined by Stanley Krippner, who holds an impressive background in the scientific study of dreams, psychology, and parapsychology. The experiments they conducted spanned more than 10 years, During the experiments, there was usually a “telepathic sender” and a “telepathic receiver.”

More recently, in the mainstream scientific world, scientists developed the technology to communicate telepathically. This is not the same as true telepathy, as it is technologically assisted, but it still marks a stepping stone toward opening the minds of more people to the idea of telepathy in general. It’s almost comical how much evidence exists for this phenomenon, and it’s frustrating that modern day scientific definitions limit what we can accept as real, no matter how obvious the existence of something may sometimes be.

Non-Material Science Is Important

Experiments like these have been subject to ridicule, but for no good reason.  Internationally recognized scientists are constantly coming together to stress the importance of what is still commonly overlooked in the mainstream scientific community — the fact that matter (protons, electrons, photons, anything that has a mass) is not the only reality. We wish to understand the nature of our reality, but how can we do so if we are continually examining only physical systems? What about the role of non-physical systems, such as consciousness, or their interaction with physical systems (matter)?

Our modern day scientific methods are built upon the idea that we live in a completely material, physical world. This scientific point of view has obviously played an important role in shaping our understanding of reality, but at the same time it’s completely dominated mainstream academia. As a result, the scientific study and attention material phenomena deserve has been greatly hampered, and the scientific study of the mind continues to go neglected.

Our current scientific parameters have assisted us, but we are reaching a point where we must expand those parameters, and accept that it’s time to usher in the age of non-material science. The implications of this field are huge, but new discoveries bring with them the worry of what human beings will do with them. How we use our technology needs to change, and that can only occur if we open our minds up to a different view about the true nature of our reality.

Wilmore Likens GOP to 13 Children Abused by ‘Creepy White’ Trump & Pence

Appearing as a guest on Friday’s Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO, liberal comedian and failed Comedy Central host Larry Wilmore made several snide comments about conservatives as he not only cracked that former Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was “murdered by a pillow,” but he poked fun at the 13 children who were infamously held prisoner and abused by their parents as he likened them to Republicans held hostage by President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence as “that creepy white couple.”

He also suggested that those who opposed Martin Luther King Jr. and ultimately murdered him were of the same ilk as Fox News and Republicans as host Bill Maher wondered how they would treat Dr. King if he were alive today.

 

 

At about 10:18 p.m. ET, Maher accused Republicans — also lumping in Wal-Mart — of lying to bolster President Donald Trump, referring to it as a “vast right-wing conspiracy.”  Wilmore then jumped in with a tasteless joke: “It’s fascinating, but he’s like people are scared to leave, like Trump and Pence are those — that creepy white couple and Republicans are those 13 kids or something, you know.” Trying to preempt negative reaction, he then tried to claim: “I’m not making fun of them.”

A bit later, Wilmore complained that Democrats do not “play hardball” like Republicans, and made a joke about Scalia’s death: “Well, remember, Mitch McConnell — Judge Scalia was murdered by that pillow like a — for a whole year, he was dead. Mitch McConnell held out for a whole year for Gorsuch, That’s playing hardball.”

This is not the first time former Justice Scalia’s death has been exploited for laughs on the Real Time show, as host Maher joked about it on his show in February 2016 the week after Scalia’s passing.

Returning to Friday’s show, Maher then brought up Martin Luther King Day and mocked Republicans for praising the slain civil rights leader: “Whenever this holiday happens, all of the Republicans, they talk in such glowing terms, Dr. King, and they’re gonna march with him — what would they be saying about him on Fox News if he was alive?”

Wilmore tried to blame Fox News retroactively for King assassination as he responded with more vitriol: “We saw how they treated him when he was alive, which is why he’s not alive right now.”
