Putin: ‘Absurd’ to believe Russia poisoned Skripals ahead of elections & World Cup

Putin za američki NBC: Nismo mi započeli utrku u naoružanju - započeo ju je Bush 2002. godine i od onda traje

Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed allegations that Russia was behind the early March poisoning of former double-agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter in Salisbury.

It is “nonsense and absurd to claim that Russia would do anything like that before the elections and the World Cup,” Putin said, touching on the subject for the fist time since the incident. He was responding to a reporter’s question in his campaign headquarters, as early results of Sunday’s presidential election indicated his landslide victory.

“Concerning this tragedy that you’ve mentioned, I learned about it from the media,” Putin told reporters.

He dismissed the theory that it was a military-grade toxic agent that was used in the poisoning, because if that were the case “people, of course, would have died on the spot.”

“It’s an obvious fact, you should simply understand that,” he said.

The Skripals, 66-year-old Sergei and 33-year-old Yulia, were found slumped on a bench in Salisbury on March 4. They remain in hospital, in critical but stable condition.

Moscow is open to working with London to investigate the poisoning, provided the UK is willing, which is not the case at the moment.

“We have not seen this so far, but we keep that on the agenda while planning our bilateral work,” Putin said, adding that Russia is ready “to discuss any issues and overcome any difficulties” with London.

Moscow does not possess any chemical weapons stockpiles, Putin said.

“Russia doesn’t have such means, and we have destroyed all our chemical weapons under the supervision of international observers,” he stated, adding that Russia was the first to get rid of its arsenals while other countries “have promised [to do the same], but have not met their commitments yet, unfortunately.”

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that, contrary to UK Prime Minister Theresa May’s claims that there could be “no alternative conclusion other than the Russian state was responsible,” the toxin could have originated from the UK itself, Slovakia, the Czech Republic or Sweden.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated on Saturday that the project “is not the creation of Russia or the Soviet Union,” pointing to the fact that several countries have been researching the substance since the 1990s, when many former Soviet scientists fled to the West.

On Sunday, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson doubled down on his accusations that Russia was complicit in the incident, claiming that the UK has been collecting evidence “over the past 10 years” of Moscow devising deadly nerve agents for the purpose of assassination.

Comment: Boris, why not release this evidence if it’s so damning? Possibly because it’s bogus?

Moscow has requested samples of the alleged nerve agent to be provided to Russia through Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) channels, but the request has been repeatedly rebuked by the UK.

‘Absurd’ that Russia would leave its ‘signature’ on Skripal crime – George Galloway (VIDEO)

Speaking to RT’s Bill Dod, the former Labour MP hit back at Prime Minister Theresa May’s allegations that Russia was behind the poisoning of Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia. His comments follow demands by Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn that the PM present evidence and use channels provided by international law before assigning blame to Moscow.

“Here is the killer question that was not asked by anybody in parliament either on Monday or Wednesday,” Galloway said. “If this Novichok is exclusively Russian, why would Russia choose that weapon to mount a terrorist attack on the streets of Salisbury? They may as well be leaving a pair of boots covered with snow and painting ‘Vladimir Putin was here’ on the nearest wall.

“It’s absolutely absurd that Russia would actually put its signature on a crime like this if they had carried it out,” he added.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Russia will expel British diplomats shortly. The measure is a response to May’s sanctions against Russia over its alleged involvement in the poisoning of former Russian double agent Skripal. A total of 23 Russian diplomats will be expelled from the UK, among other punitive measures.

Galloway compared May’s assertions to misleading intelligence reports that were created in the lead-up to the Iraq war. Faulty intelligence garnered by the US and UK claimed that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction (WMD). The claim was used to justify the invasion.

“I have an absolute conviction that this is exactly the same kind of canard that led us to the disaster of the Iraq war,” Galloway said, before adding that “in any list of suspects, Russia must be near the bottom because, self-evidently, it has not and cannot benefit from this crime in any way.”

On Russia’s refusal to respond to the deadline set by May for it to give its account of the Skripal poisoning, Galloway said: “The reality is Russia has every right to be offended here. It is my view that the language of ultimatums and ‘you have 36 hours to say you’re guilty or kind of guilty’… was deliberately designed to fail. Russia was set up to fail this test that Theresa May set it.

“Just like Iraq and the WMD, this verdict has already been reached before this investigation ever began,” he said.

When Dod asked Galloway about Ofcom’s intention to revoke RT’s license, he said it would make a “mockery of British protestations of freedom of speech and it will probably be illegal under British, EU and international law, so I hope they will not be so foolish to do that. There will never be another British journalist working in Russia, that’s for sure. People should think about that very carefully,” he warned.

Absurd Limited Hangout: Glowing Auras and ‘Black Money’: The Pentagon’s Mysterious U.F.O. Program

Absurd Limited Hangout: Glowing Auras and ‘Black Money’: The Pentagon’s Mysterious U.F.O. Program

December 16th, 2017

$22 million. *snort*

Trillions of dollars missing, and Tom Delonge, the New York Times and the DoD present to you…

Via: New York Times:

In the $600 billion annual Defense Department budgets, the $22 million spent on the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program was almost impossible to find.

Which was how the Pentagon wanted it.

For years, the program investigated reports of unidentified flying objects, according to Defense Department officials, interviews with program participants and records obtained by The New York Times. It was run by a military intelligence official, Luis Elizondo, on the fifth floor of the Pentagon’s C Ring, deep within the building’s maze.

The Defense Department has never before acknowledged the existence of the program, which it says it shut down in 2012. But its backers say that, while the Pentagon ended funding for the effort at that time, the program remains in existence. For the past five years, they say, officials with the program have continued to investigate episodes brought to them by service members, while also carrying out their other Defense Department duties.

The shadowy program — parts of it remain classified — began in 2007, and initially it was largely funded at the request of Harry Reid, the Nevada Democrat who was the Senate majority leader at the time and who has long had an interest in space phenomena. Most of the money went to an aerospace research company run by a billionaire entrepreneur and longtime friend of Mr. Reid’s, Robert Bigelow, who is currently working with NASA to produce expandable craft for humans to use in space.

On CBS’s “60 Minutes in May, Mr. Bigelow said he was “absolutely convinced that aliens exist and that U.F.O.s have visited Earth.

Mr. Elizondo has now joined Mr. Puthoff and another former Defense Department official, Christopher K. Mellon, who was a deputy assistant secretary of defense for intelligence, in a new commercial venture called To the Stars Academy of Arts and Science. They are speaking publicly about their efforts as their venture aims to raise money for research into U.F.O.s.

In the interview, Mr. Elizondo said he and his government colleagues had determined that the phenomena they had studied did not seem to originate from any country. “That fact is not something any government or institution should classify in order to keep secret from the people, he said.

For his part, Mr. Reid said he did not know where the objects had come from. “If anyone says they have the answers now, they’re fooling themselves, he said. “We do not know.

But, he said, “we have to start someplace.

Working Class w/ No Living Wage: The Absurd Math of US Income

PHOTO CREDIT: PIXABAY

As the stock market gleefully claws its way to more record-breaking highs, Forbes reports a full 56% of US Americans now have less than $1,000 to their names — and 25% have less than $100. But the economy, as they say, is booming. Even with 165 million on the breadline and an hourly minimum wage of only $7.25 nationally, surging Amazon share prices have added $13 billion to Jeff Bezos’ net-worth since mid-September. For perspective, $13 billion is enough to pay the student-loan debts of 432,000 millennials. It’s also plenty to end world hunger for a year, according to the International Institute for Sustainable Development. And Bezos — now the world’s richest man — smashes a bottle of organic champagne to celebrate his new wind-farm. The question is — how do markets grow as the wealth of the people shrinks and wages fall? What do the commentariat mean by “economic growth” when the nation’s income can hardly keep half of its people’s heads above water?

The National Income:
How Much Value is Created by the US Economy?

There are a lot of ways to measure economies — for example, gross domestic product or GDP is the value of everything a country produces ( minus the cost to produce it ) and the employment-rate measures the number of paying jobs. The gross national income or GNI is what you get after adding up all of the income earned by everyone. GNI includes every citizen ( even in other countries ) and every kind of income from wages or salaries to social security and unemployment benefits, investment returns, or the sale of assets like houses and cars.

GNI is basically the total value of all money paid to everyone, minus the expenses of doing the business everyone is getting paid for. According to the macroeconomic accounts on the Federal Reserve’s website, the GNI was about $18.7 trillion dollars in 2016 for the US.

Gross National Wages:
Every Paycheck Combined

Now, how much of America’s multi-trillion-dollar paycheck ends up in the pockets of people who work in the US? Since the “gross national wage” is apparently not as important to US media-outlets as Jeff Bezos’ latest earnings or the many triumphs of the Dow Jones, this number is a bit more camouflaged. Luckily, the total number who are employed by all industries and their average wages or salaries can be found in the bowels of the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ website. Multiplying these two numbers — the total employed by all industries and their mean-average yearly wages — gives the combined wages and salaries of everyone with a job in the US, from the clerks and mechanics to the brain-surgeons and corporate executives.

PM quashes absurd bid to make French less ‘macho’

French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe has clamped down on attempts to make French more female-friendly, issuing a ban on so-called “inclusive writing” in official texts, according to a memo seen by AFP on Tuesday.

Moves to end the linguistic dominance of the masculine over the feminine have sparked impassioned debate in France, coming as a flurry of revelations about sexual harassment and assault continue to dominate global headlines.

At the centre of the row is the growing use of formulations to embrace both genders in the plural form, which requires full-stops being inserted in the word — to the horror of purists.

For example, the word for a mixed-gender group of “readers” is usually written as “lecteurs”, even if the women outnumber the men, rather than with the feminine plural “lectrices”.

Using inclusive writing, the word would be written as “lecteur.rice.s”.

In a memo to his ministers seen on Tuesday, Philippe issued a diktat, insisting: “The masculine (form) is a neutral form which should be used for terms liable to apply to women”.

Stressing the need to use formal language in legally binding texts, he demanded government ministries avoid inclusive writing, “notably for reasons of intelligibility and clarity”.

The ministers were also instructed to ensure that the traditional form be used in all public services under their authority.

The prime minister’s office told AFP that the memo aimed to “end the controversy” but assured that the government was still “resolutely committed to strengthening equality between women and men.”

The debate appeared set to rumble on, however, with “defenseur.e.s” (defenders) of inclusive writing saying the French language must keep up with changing times.

Comment: These ‘changing times’ are actually a sign of degeneration in societies ability to think clearly: The demise of Western Civilization: “Gender fluidity” as a harbinger for Postmodernist Hell

Purist resistance

Several ministries, universities and trade unions have recently been using the gender-neutral form, but it largely escaped public notice until it turned up in an elementary school history textbook recently.

The book notably refers to farmers as “agriculteur.rice.s” and shop owners as “commercant.e.s”

An appalled Academie Francaise — gatekeeper of the French language — went on the offensive, warning that the punctuated “aberration” would make French too complex, putting it “in mortal danger”.

Education Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer also weighed in, saying French “should not be exploited for fighting battles no matter how legitimate they are.”

This is not the first drive to try make French more balanced — moves that have routinely been resisted by the members of the Academie Francaise, known as “The Immortals”.

In 2015, France’s High Council for Equality Between Women and Men issued a guide urging public bodies to avoid sexual stereotypes by, for example, using feminine forms for “firefighter” and “author” where applicable.

Some critics such as philosopher Raphael Enthoven have objected to what they see as a prescriptive approach to the language spoken by some 275 million people worldwide.

They say language usage should be allowed to evolve naturally over time.

People Are Officially Done With John Kelly After His 'Absurd' Civil War Comments

John Kelly, chief of staff to President Donald Trump, angered many on Monday when he told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham that the Civil War was caused by a “lack of ability to compromise.”

Kelly had been seen by some as a voice of reason in the White House. But his latest comments may have burned up whatever goodwill he had among the president’s critics:

Absurd! Gov’t Spends $2M on Tiny Park Bathroom that Took 7 Years to Make, and That’s Normal

bathroombathroom

In a bizarre case of government failure, taxpayers in New York City footed the bill for a brand new bathroom in their public park that cost a whopping $2 MILLION — and it took over 7 YEARS to construct — seriously.

While both the price and the construction time might make you think that this bathroom was an elaborate building with ornate features and state-of-the-art technology, it is actually nothing more than a 400-square-foot public restroom.

“I was expecting gold-plated fixtures! It’s just a toilet, a couple of urinals, a couple of sinks—2 million dollars?!” Journalist John Stossel remarked when visiting the bathroom in a segment for ReasonTV.

Even more incredulous was the response from New York City’s Parks Commissioner, Mitchell Silver, who told Stossel that the price for the bathroom in question was cheap compared to current estimates, which now stand at around $3 million.

“New York City is the most expensive place to build. 2 million was a good deal,” Silver said, insisting that while $2 million could also buy a nice house in the area, the city stands by its price. “We built these comfort stations to last… Look at the material we use compared to that of a home. These are very, very durable materials.”

David Greenfield, a Democratic councilman from Brooklyn, told CBS2 that he blames Mayor Bill de Blasio for the outrageous cost.

“The buck stops with the administration and at the end of the day, if the administration really made this their priority, they could figure out a way to cut the red tape,” Greenfield said, noting that because a complete house can be built in the area for $1 million, the city is “essentially wasting taxpayer money.”

However, Stossel noted that a nearby public restroom in Bryant Park cost only $300,00 to build, and it gets much more use.” He found that the major difference between the two came from the fact that “Bryant Park is privately managed.”

Public restrooms aren’t the only elements of parks that have been known to lead to outrageous government estimates. Last month, Adi Astl, a retired mechanic and resident of Toronto, spent $550 building a set of stairs for his community park.

However, the city’s estimate for the project ranged from $65,000 to $150,000. Astl told CTV News that after watching multiple people fall down the steep path to the park’s community garden, and waiting for the city to act, he decided to take matters into his own hands.

“To me, the safety of people is more important than money,” Astl said. “So if the city is not willing to do it, I have to do it myself.”

The city of Toronto responded to Astl’s thoughtful act by tearing down the staircase, and insisting that its replacement will now cost at least $10,000 to build.

Stossel pointed out one fact many Americans have come to learn the hard way: Everything costs more when government builds it.”

“Obamacare’s website was supposed to cost $464 million. It cost $834 million and still crashed.

Washington, D.C.’s Visitor Center rose in cost from $265 million to $621 million.

The Veterans Affairs medical center being built near Denver was projected to cost $590 million. Now they estimate $1.7 billion.”

One thing is certain—when government is involved, projects will never be handled in the most efficient way possible, the needs of the citizens will not be the first priority, and the private sector will always be a better option.

Elon Musk totally fabricates absurd claim that he has "verbal approval" to build massive underground transportation infrastructure in five East Coast cities

Image: Elon Musk totally fabricates absurd claim that he has “verbal approval” to build massive underground transportation infrastructure in five East Coast cities

(Natural News)
On Thursday, July 20, Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to social media and made an announcement that left many just as confused as they were shocked.

“Just received verbal govt approval for The Boring Company to build an underground NY-Phil-Balt-DC Hyperloop. NY-DC in 29 minutes,” Musk wrote on Twitter. In a follow up post, the Tesla CEO further explained his plans for this futuristic transportation system: “City center to city center in each case, with up to a dozen or more entry/exit elevators in each city.”

The Hyperloop is something that Musk has been publicly speaking about for quite some time now. Setting aside all of the specifics, what Musk envisions is an underground transportation system that is capable of getting people from point A to point B in an incredibly short amount of time. If what Musk says is correct, then the Hyperloop would be able to turn a four hour car ride from New York to Washington D.C. into a 29 minute trip. Such technology would no doubt revolutionize America’s transportation system and change the way we travel forever. But as incredible as something like the Hyperloop sounds, many people on social media were a bit confused by Musk’s announcement.

“Verbal? Not on the dotted line?” tweeted BBC reporter Dave Lee in response to the announcement. “Seems premature to announce… unless you’re drumming up support for the project?” Musk wrote back, “Support would be much appreciated!”

Eventually, Musk once again took to his Twitter account to address all of the confusion surrounding his claim that he received verbal permission to build the Hyperloop. “Still a lot of work needed to receive formal approval, but am optimistic that will occur rapidly,” he wrote.

While a spokesman for the White House did confirm that the Trump Administration has had “promising conversations to date” with the Tesla CEO, others weren’t so receptive of Musk’s announcement.

“Who gave him permission to do that?” asked a spokesman for the Maryland Department of Transportation. Mike Dunn, the Baltimore city spokesman, stated, “Elon Musk has had no contact with Philadelphia officials on this matter. We do not know what he means when he says he received ‘verbal government approval.’”

Both a spokesperson for the state of Pennsylvania and a spokesman for the New York City mayor’s office also said that officials in their states have not spoken to Musk or anyone from his company. (Related: Elon Musk is a hypocrite for warning about the dangers of climate change while flying on his private jet.)

What most likely happened here was nothing more and nothing less than an attempt to generate support and excitement over Musk’s idea to build a Hyperloop transportation system that runs up and down the east coast. He probably did speak to a government official about the proposal, they probably liked the idea of it, and then Musk more than likely exaggerated what he had heard and turned it into “verbal government approval.” Instead of misleading his fans and followers, the Tesla CEO should have been upfront with the fact that, as he said in his follow up Tweet, there’s still a lot that must be done before he receives formal approval.

This isn’t the only time that Musk has made public comments that are, at best, questionable. In the past, Musk has stated that he wants to begin sending humans to Mars by the year 2024, just seven years from now. Of course it would be nice to be able to advance our space travel technology that quickly, but getting to Mars by the year 2024 just isn’t very likely. (Related: Elon Musk warns that the world population is accelerating toward collapse.)

Elon Musk is a man who has done incredible things with his life thus far, and he has millions of fans out there that are eagerly waiting to see what he comes up with next. At the very least, he owes his fans the truth about his projects, and should stay away from fabrications as a means of gaining more support.

  • Whereas, on May 25, 2017, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit upheld a preliminary injunction blocking President Trump’s revised Executive order, saying it “drips with religious intolerance, animus, and discrimination.”;

Trump is a Meanie

  • Whereas President Trump used Twitter to circulate a video of him violently wrestling a man covered by a CNN logo, which, according to the Reporters Committee on Freedom of the Press, was a “threat of physical violence against journalists;
  • Whereas, in a February 4, 2017, tweet, President Trump referred to a Federal judge with whom he disagreed as a “so-called judge”;
  • Whereas, on June 29, 2017, President Trump tweeted, “I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came … to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!”;
  • Whereas, on April 28, 2017, President Trump referred to United States Senator Elizabeth Warren as “Pocahontas” in a speech to the National Rifle Association;
  • Whereas President Trump has called press reports, “fake news” and in some instances his administration has prohibited video recordings of White House press briefings;
